what movie or documentary is this clip from? Andretti seems to just making fun of Ronnie at the end of the clip ! thanks very much for this upload GDH1981.
I dont think at the point he was. They took away traction control, he felt pressure from Schumi and he tossed the car just about every race. The changing of the guard was happening. That's just the way things work.
I think they are in Motor Inn Motel. It is up the hill at the end of the main street of Watkins Glen, and has a great view on the Seneka Lake. Most of the F1 drivers used to go there.
A true gentleman of the sport. During this weekend's race, (USA 1972) he pulled alongside Ickx's Ferrari to take fourth place and in doing so signalled frantically to Ickx that the back of his car was on fire and to take care! If anyone deserved to be world champion it was Ronnie and his loss was a terrible and tragic one for the sport and for motor racing in general.
So sad that he never got a fair chans. His contract with McLaren could have been something.
Mario Andretti got the title in 1978 due to the fact that Lotus thought that would make them sell more cars in the US. And Ronnie had to sign for it. Isn´t that pathetic???
Sure! Regarding tests of the car Mario could have done something. I know that Ronnie was better when it came to adapting to a car rather than development.
But there will be no more credit than that since Mario could not have Ronnie in the team on the same turns. Big shame on Lotus and Mario!!! Still Ronnie kept his word to the team...
Senna will alwas be greater than Schumacher and Ronnie always greater than Mario.
But still some redneck yankees have a serious need of education.
I hope you are not refering to me. How is Senna always going to be better than Schumi? Schumi was beating him and Senna was in the best car. I'm not taking anything away from Senna. But don't let your anti-Schumi, anti-German bias cloud your judgement.
No I was not refering to you. Did not know if you were from the US or not. And I do not suggest that every american is ignorant. But some just do not want to see things how they were when it comes to Ronnie Peterson and Lotus, no matter what.
When it comes to Schumi and Senna it is harder to tell.
I saw this video and was going to send the link to F1 Racing and then saw it printed the following month. Thanks for these great footage, cool that F1 Racing gives some interesting links
thanks

actually, senna beat schumi until 1994, then senna got 3 poles, then 2 mechanical failures and a start crash caused by another driver.
Senna was definitely better than Schumi when it came to raw pace

Amen. Ronnie Peterson definitely deserved it, and I totally think he would have won more than one championship.

The tree of them Laughing and Relaxed. Brilliant and Funny video. The lighter side of F1's Better Drivers of the time.

Man, Mario is buff.

Yeah he was. I've just read his biography and it's fascinating. Such a talent, doesn't get the recognition he deserves.
