  • "Jesus rose from the grave, but you can't even get out of your bed"...PREACH IT KEITH, preach it, brother!

  • End Times sign ..

  • Mat 24:12 And because iniquity shall be multiplied, the love of the many shall wax cold.

  • Holy Spirit help me to do what is right every day because with every step I take I am still a sinner. Every day asking for forgiveness for we sin daily without knowing, for if one eats and one goes hungry I have failed you. If a person is down I shall reach out my hand and lift him up for it may not be him who needs a hand.It may be me.

  • @gr8tgtr613 You haven't failed in any way. Jesus wants only for you to do what He has put before you each day and He fills in the rest. He only wants us to take His hand and trust in Him. He is perfect Love and His yoke is easy and His burden is light. You are accepted in Him as His beloved child. The Holy Spirit is working in you whether you are washing your car or on the mission field. Totally loved, totally forgiven because of His work on the cross. It is finished.

  • mooi hoor!

  • High and lifted, perfect God and Father.

  • All of his music always brings me to tears. So great.

  • Where's the last chord?!! I need resolution... lol. Magnificent song.

  • I was in bed while listening to this ....

and it was high morning, and i was feeling lazy....

    this was convicting

  • If you feel like you're apathetic, not feeling sad because of the world that doesn't know Jesus. Pray for emotion. God WILL move your heart if you ask Him. God bless, my family in Christ!

  • i was just listening to wayne watson's god in a box and then came back to this great ol tune from keith green and see so many parallels in the two songs. two great songs by two great men of god.

  • keith was a man of God come with a passion for the souls,he was a burning light who burned to the full until his end

  • Let this video wake us up to how Jesus intended his followers to be. Give us a heart of anguish of Lord!

  • 3 ARE 1....Jesus IS GOD.....for those who don't know.

  • He could have easily been a world famous & very rich musical artist, but he chose to pick up the cross and follow Christ,& the receive the dislike & hatred of the world through being salt & light.

This right here is what so many of the very popular& hugely talented musicians we see in the mass media would be like,if they were saved & used their talents for God. What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul? That scripture had to be very real to Keith- as he lived it!

  • @Coolworldleaderguy So many Christians(even some real ones) forsake good, truth and Godliness to attain money, in large and small things/ ways. Mostly because they don't give much thought to everyday living, but mostly to Sunday morning service.Thats where most of their so-called Godliness is present, largely exclusively.I say this, because it's something I've had to face- turning down money and work to stay within Godliness. It's been very tough, but its the only way I believe.no lukewarmness.

  • What brilliant lines - (such as) "The world is sleeping in the dark that the Church just can't fight because it's asleep in the light". God blessed this man's mind with these words - SO true. We need these strong wake-up calls. Witness, Christians - the hour is so late.

  • @Moongold7 I totally agree. VERY powerful and potently true words! I was gonna comment on that, but you did it for me! lol God bless.

Amazing song also, not just because of the lyrics, but the passion and conviction its sung with, and the Keith's genius music composition ability, given to him by God!

  • Sigh.

"How can you be so numb, not to care if they come."

Everywhere I look,I seem to see the "Westboro Baptist Church heart". It's a miracle that I'm not an agnostic!

  • I get massive conviction everytime I here this song.

  • I'm guessing Keith Green was such a wonderful human being that he would speak about his faith only when appropriate. He wouldn't try to force it down your throat. That's just my guess because unlike many religious people, I actually believe he's one of the few who truly loves his god and humans.

  • amazing song. amazingly true words. we, the church, really are asleep in the light! it sadly is even more true nowadays.

  • Excellent - Keith Green's inspirational Music & Lyrics are still as powerful today... 28 years after he died so tragically with his two small children. Thank God for Keith Green and the wonderful gifts he was bestowed with. Thank God for Melody too and her faithfulness to God and for upholding Keith's continuing ministry beyond the grave. It is so wonderful to find Keith's music on YouTube here in England today.

  • Woah first Keith green song I've heard. He's amazing and the lyrics are very powerful

  • i'm sorry...who is jason?

  • @InnerMittenSignal probably refering to the above conversation. Its about Jason Upton.

  • wow

  • Thanks for posting...

  • Like David, Keith is a man after God's heart...

A vessel worthy of emulation.. while we miss Keith and his ministry on earth, and would even love Him to continue to deliver unadulterated gospel to hearers; God took him 4 a reason. We who are alive therefore ought 2 b the "Keiths" of this generation. wherever we are, lets (like Keith) proclaim Jesus without reservation - in our offices, in our circle of friends, families, everwhere! Pray for continual grace. Shalom!

  • guilty as charged.

and Keith obviously influenced both Jason Upton and Rick Pino.

  • guilty as charged....

and i can definately see who upton has been influenced by.

  • I can't wait to meet him...

  • It is so amazing, all these years later, and WE all miss him; even those of us who were not Christian's before his departue. What is it that we love in this man? ANSWER: THE HOLY SPIRIT

  • Do you see? Do you SEE, all the people sinking down. Don't you care? Don't you care are you gonna let them drown?

DON'T CLOSE YOUR EYES AND PRETEND THE JOBS DONE.

  • I went to a Keith Green concert and the truth he spoke literally changed the rest of my life...we now travel around the globe seeing mass thousands be set free by the truth. Dane Muhlig of Worldquest

  • This song convicted the hypocrisy out of me years ago...

I went to a Keith Green concert and the truth he spoke literally changed the rest of my life...we now travel around the globe seeing mass thousands be set free by the truth. Dane Muhlig of Worldquest

  • My Dad introduced me to Keith Green and I love him for it. I love Keith Green's songs, however my friend doesn't appreciate them because she doesn't get the lyrics. Big fan of Keith Green and lovin his songs.

  • Good Song :)

  • absolutely life changing lyrics, if you are awake to hear them!

  • Praise the Lord! Keith Green was a man of God! I am so glad that I can still hear his music! I am so sad that he is gone, but I know that he is having a good time in Heaven! Amen!

  • Keith's music and ministry has had a profound effect on my entire family (my husband and I and our 5 children), my own music ministry and our son's, as well as our walks with the Lord. His sermons and music have discipled all of us and continues to do so all these years after his passing...Asleep in the Light was one of his greatest messages....

  • wow so true.. the men in the bible got killed and persecuted because they preached the gospel. and were scared today because people might think were funny or..no, they might make fun of us. amen i am so convicted

  • One of my favorite Keith Green songs! this song brings me to tears everytime! But not only just to tears, but tears enough to DO something!! This song inspires me to DO something to help someone; and to love them enough to bring them to Jesus!!

  • I love the way his hair bounces as he sings. What a man of passion!

  • Annointed of God then and now - all these years later. This young man's Spirit filled music continues to touch hearts across the ages. Keith's music saw me through some pretty tough times back then and still ministers to my heart now! What an inspiration!

  • I remember Keith and His Ministries. I'm so glad this is on Youtube. i work with sick people every day and I don't think I would have pursued this work if i had not bee expose to these ministries. I totally believe that Our purpose on this Earth is to love each other and take care of each other. I find myself forgiving those that haven't realized this by their inactions. It is truly remarkable.

  • It always amazes me how people can watch such a video, (especially one like this of a wonderfully anointed musician who is so beautifully glorifying God) and then get into an online argument....just take a deep breath and let the lord take you out of the religious pride....experience His love...i have a book titled, Forgive Us Our Denominations As We Forgive Those Who Denomination Against Us...ponder that and praise the Lord.

  • the bible is proven to be right inevery page it is a fact and this song is my favorie it is the best i love keith green because his songss lift me up all day

  • I thought Keith was really, really close to it. I don't know if it was this video, but he said that an apple tree naturally produces apples. I thought he lost when his message was, "Better start producing apples." Better yet, better start giving Christ your sinful heart. Confess apathy! Let Christ change you. It seems like Christians get freaked about doing works. If you know Christ, you have peace - and a burning desire to see the lost saved! Ray Comfort-great at Biblical evangelism btw

  • too many times i got to work and

dont speak to people about the Lord.

i just get to selfish, at least i could be praying for them, but i dont, this video is reminder that when

I do that and others i know im not the only one that it is sin.

Lord help us to not be selfish!

  • "I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth."

So many times people get caught up in the WHAT, that they miss the whole point of the WHY.

God is love. Every good and perfect gift comes from God. He created us and loves us. We are blessed and most satisfied when we glorify God.

  • Just wait and see. God's blessings are not an end of themselves. Christians are given these blessings so they can share. Keith is arguing that these lazy christians need to get out there and do their work. You're argument is why would God bless them and then give them the choice of being lazy? God will judge those who slept through these times, and that judgment is yet to come. And it's not about guilt, it's about facing fact that God is keeping account of what you do with what you have.

  • Hey ...Soup! You still have to answer how a believer makes it to heaven on his own merits as Keith clearly teaches in his songs. If Sheep and Goats are distinguished by what they did or did not DO....how is anyone sure of the quantity of effort worthy of the heavenly reward?

  • Also, if the gospel fails to inspire and compel believers to a better kind of person than Kieth describes in this song, why the heck should more people be made into Christians? After all, Keith clearly says NO ONE cares or sheds a tear...willing to let people drown etc. The church is obviously a dead end. The unsaved are often morally better than the saved.

  • not all christians are not inspired to be better christians. there are a lot who want to do god's will. the song asleep in the light is a hardcore message to wake the church up from it's, as you called it, dead end. if this song doesn't inspire christians, then i'm not sure they're even saved at all or anymore. on the contrary. that's why jesus died for us, so we can find our way back from being lost. i hope i helped a little.

  • If Christianity does not produce better people than those Keith is singing about, then neither will heaven be a place where evil is nonexistent. Bear in mind, that the paradise of being in God's presence was the place where the devil became the devil. Go figure!

  • that's why god kicked the devil out of heaven because he will not allow sin there. go figure. all i'm saying is that yes as christians we are supposed to be an example. we're not perfect. but, we should try and be more like jesus. key word being try. also god can't allow sin into heaven. any impurities there will burn up. which is also why jesus died for us so we have a chance to get there.

  • a person doesn't make it into heaven on their own merits. it's god's love that we have that has us do these works. the bible says go out to the world and preach the gospel and make disciples of men. some christians do and some don't. god looks at your heart behind what you do. is for your glory? or god's glory?

  • The NT is of two minds on the basis of salvation. In its very early years, Christianity was, as is true today, in an identity crises. A letter here and there was read to the mostly illiterate believers. Questions were raised about many things, not the least: How is a person saved? Even the Reformation of 1517 didn't resolve the matter resulting in bloody wars. Works and Faith. Try to figure this out. The truth is both are in the NT...cp, James 2:17-26.

  • are you saying you don't know how a person is saved? or how the people in the n.t. are saved? it was jesus. pretty simple i think. martin luther was trying to tell everyone that during that particular time. they didn't want to hear that. jesus. that's how people are people are saved.

  • you dont understand, we are not saved by our works, we are saved by Gods grace. We will all be judged according to our works, and some will be rewarded for giving their all to The Lord and others will be ashamed of how they failed to answer their calling, but that does not mean they will be condemned.

If you love your father you want to please him, if you hate your father how can you live with him? This is what Jesus preached. If you love me, keep my commandments.

  • I think Kieth is saying that if you've been genuinely saved, works will follow. Good Calvinism.

  • Keith wasn't a calvinist. I can assure you and I know it first hand. He followed hard after a die hard arminian Finney. Read Keith's stuff. Keith's friend Steve Camp who I've talked too said he was against Calvinism. He personally felt Keith would have eventually converted to Reformed Theology. Nevertheless The Best Christian Artist of all time. Theologically he had his issues, but his music did drive you to Christ.

  • I was just joking about the Calvanism. Kieth (like every other preacher I've heard) did say a couple of things I didn't agree with, but I believe his walk with God was solid and his message to the church about really doing the work of God (versus just playing church) was right on.

  • But isn't reformed theology more in line with Calvinism?

  • Reformed Theology is Calvinism. Read the Synods of Dordt to get a decent perspective on it. I was Pentecostal for 17 years before I converted. Like R.C. Sproul states Reformed Theology is Biblical Theology. I can understand you were joking, but theologically I cannot joke about it. I was in the A/G for 17 yrs and went to one of their colleges. In reference to Keith I agree with you.

  • A couple of questions for you please...

Do you now completely renounce the Pentecostal movement? (I'm not referring to Charismatics or Word of Faith. I'm referring to classic Pentecostals such as the AG). Do you no longer believe that the Holy Spirit can interrupt a the order of a service, etc? Do you feel that Ray Comfort is A Calvinist? is Steve Camp a Calvinist? Just curious about your experience.

  • No I don't completely renounce the pentecostal experience. I am not what is refered to as a cessationist (gifts had ceased at the completion of the Canon). Not all Calvinists are cessationists. God can do what he wants in a service. Yes Steve Camp is a Calvinist. You can go to his web site. Google Audience One Ministries and It will get you there. I believe 85-90% of what is happening to professing pentecostals is counterfeit. Keep me posted and let's keep chating.

  • Could you please enable me as a friend. I had a detailed message I wanted to send to you first thing in the morning. I m going away for the weekend. If not we'll continue this converstion later. My message has my email address in it.

  • Only one conversion my friend, and that is to Christ. The rest is growth in one's walk with Christ through a growing knowledge of God's Word. Theologically we all have "issues", do we not? And we all have room to grow in faith and in the Word, do we not? Our "issues" cease when we are as Keith Green is now...seeing and praising Our Savior face to face. Can't wait until my voice joins Keith's in heaven. All by God's grace. Until then, what a blessing His music is. Very Refreshing.

  • I appreciate what you are saying, while at the same time, it is of vital importance to rightly divide the Word of Truth. Paul told Timothy to Watch your life and DOCTRINE closely for in so doing you will save YOURSELF AND YOUR HEARERS. According to Steve Camp, Keith was very concerned about doctrine, his pamplets were full of it. Steve knew Keith and once again, according to Steve, Keith would have eventually became Reformed in theology. As far as I'm concerned Reformed Theology is Biblical.

  • 42BETWO...Are you confident you have received our Lord's Gospel???

  • Keith was responsible for thousands to enter the mission field with his declaration to "go"

  • what amazing passion given to Keith from God. keith listened to the lord. he followed and obeyed, he didnt fake a thing. we (Christians) need to do exactly what this song talks about. Very powerful. thanks for posting.

  • i think keith is right thats there are so many Christians that say that they are devoted and all they do is wake up at 10 30 on sunday and go to church

  • Heard that loud and clear!! Wow!

  • Wow!

  • Wow. the message of this song in incredible! what are we doing for our dying world? do we care that millions of people are going to hell? our neighbors, people we meet in the street, every non-beleiver that we come in contact with is going to wonder why we did not share the good news with them when they are burning in hell. Let's obey the bible and " Go and preach the Gospel!"

  • What a heart for Jesus! God restore passion back to your people!

  • the way keith plays makes me think God came to him in such a way that keith felt such a need to get the word out

  • Thank you for posting!

  • I really wish I could meet him. He is definitely my musical role model. Any passionate, Christian musician should read his biography, No Compromise. It's convicting and life changing for anyone in the music industry. I am not really in the industry, I just use my lyrics to speak to people who don't listen to me otherwise because I am too young.

  • Last night was the first time I ever saw this man before, yet I had heard him on the radio when I was younger. What an inspiration!!!!! I love all of you who put these videos on here. Thank you so much!!!

  • I grew up listening to Keith Green. This has got to be one of my favs of his. It's a message so very close to my heart.

And to the person that said it made them see red flags when Upton said what he did about grace: Keith preached grace too! The message of grace is important, and we need more Christians to preach it. This WHOLE SONG is about how we need to extend the grace we have been so freely given. By condeming Jason Upton for cussing etc,..aren't you missing the message of the song?

  • We were not allowed to be blessed with his presence among us any longer than we were but, I thank God that his music lives on to spur us on to living lives that are totally surrendered to our King!!!

  • I cannot find in the Bible where it says I'm allowed to say "poo" but not ____. Or "female dog" but not ____. Or "dang" but not ____.

If it's not in the Bible, it's not of God. It's a manmade invention.

  • Colossians 3v8- "But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander and filthy language from your lips".

That seems pretty black and white to me. But on a deeper note. if you go around swearing, people will not recognise you as a Christian or take you seriously as one, so it undermines your ability to witness to them.

  • That's just the opinion of a Roman named Paul. IMHO it has no more weight than an opinion coming from Pat Robertson or Jimmy Swagert or Jim Baker.

It's merely what they THINK is the correct thing to do. Paul was just a man, not Jesus.

  • what was the opinion of paul???

  • What did that comment even mean? this song is the opinion of Jesus Gods' son, it has little or nothing to do with Paul or Pat Robertson or Jimmy Swagert or Jim Baker, you can only judge people by their fruit... and as far as keith green, he was out there trying to feed starving children not telling people to hate homosexuals and send him money like those other guys.

  • If you are referring to Paul the apostle, you are way out in left field.

  • This song is a sipritual punch in the nuts and makes me cry. Keith knew where it was at. Thank you so much God for this music and this message.

  • Glory to God...forever.

  • He cries,

    He weeps,

    He bleeds,

    He cares for u´r needs.

  • One of Keith's best. I like Steve Camp's version of this song as well

  • Wow! Definitely one of Keith's most convicting, anointed songs! His music is still relevant and moving.

  • I don't feel the need to defend Jason, I don't know why I should pray for repentence on his side. What is wrong with mother Teresa? What is wrong with drinking? I heard him telling about cussing and that was in a context like Paul used the word dung/crap/shit. Jason told people to tell it like it is. To those over 30 to speak in church and name what is wrong so the younger ones would know. Grace I can understand, Keith was a young christian, when you get older the meaning of grace deepens.

  • Try listening to Jason Upton....he is awesome and reminds me of Keith green.

  • WOW.

  • There isn't any modern christian music that can hold a candle to Keith Green. Glory to Jesus!

  • Indeed, try Jason Upton, he's also on my channel with some video's

  • I have really been disappointed with Jason Upton. I seen before on a you tube video that he was promoting mother Teresa, had said that "real christians" drink and cuss, and used hell as a cuss word from the pulpit. Looks like he has gone emergent. Very sad. I saw him on the 700 club one time and they compared him to Keith Green, but Jason said he was more "grace". That gave me a small red flag and then all this other compromise. Please pray for him that he will repent.

  • Or, he will go to hell!

  • @BurningHearts70 I agree with your statements. I saw Jason Upton live and he said the same comment about Mother Teresa.... basically that how could she not be saved? Well, there's only one way to be saved and that is by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ and what He did at the cross. I certainly hope Mother Teresa was saved, but if she was, it wasn't because she fed the hungry. And it certainly wasn't because she was Catholic.

  • "Jesus rose from the grave and you even can't get out of your bed..." amazing lyrics!!! amazing performance!

  • he is someone the world acked when we lost him. Now we only have his messages for us. I will listen as a good follower

  • Is there any footage of him playing with a band?

  • Do you think he needs one?

  • I do. I like these songs much better with the band, as recorded.

  • I think the only time he played with a band was when he recorded his albums, the way he plays the piano he does not need a band, some of the most powerful worship i ever lead was when i played my guitar alone.

  • The cool thing about his recordings is this...he actually didn't record in a studio with a band. They took his vocals/piano and then arranged the band around it. You can read about this in Melody's book "No Compromise"

  • So amazing--- lyrics, singing, piano.

  • Keith Green is a Beethoven for Jesus.

  • I couldn't have said it better myself.

  • @crazyjosiah

    Jesus was Beethoven to Keith.

  • @DudemanSwede - No, Jesus was GOD to Keith - and that is what changed his life. Beethoven, although wonderfully talented, was just a mere man, as we are. Jesus was the only sinless Being, and the Son of God - the only God-Man who ever lived.

  • @Moongold7

    Well put!

  • That book - No Compromise - is absolutely great in presenting the life of a man that lived with God! and praise bew given to the Lord that through Keith Green, HE also blessed the world with good christian music!:)

  • What a song!! WOW!

  • I am overjoyed to see Keith Green on You Tube. His death was a tragedy unknown by the masses. He was very prophetic with his lyrics. I have a collection of his works, they help me with my daily struggles.

  • I'm reading "No Compromise" too! He is so awesome...and I agree, this song is so true!

  • That was a great book?

  • It was! I definitely recommend reading it if you get the chance. It was inspiring to read about Keith and his wife Melody's lives and the way that they did their best to follow and live like Jesus.

  • wow, this song is so true... I'm just reading his book "no compromise" he realy lived a live without compromise.
