  • Man. It`s really hard to find music from this era.

  • Magnifique document !!!

    Merci pour le post ...

  • There's a section missing!!

  • superbe voix et interprétation

  • Pas assez "sul fiato",mais le personnage est représenté.Un manque d'élégance en général, dans l'aigu un peu poussé en particulier.Là, je n'ai pas de frissons!

  • A beautiful man to see and a beautiful voice te hear !

    Hans NL

  • sublime

  • Superb. Thank you.

  • So beautiful!

  • Old imperial Russian school! Sung as it was originally meant!

  • Definetely a version that teh young ones should study on. Technique, musicality... it's all there.

  • A tenor with a warm and expressive voice.

    A most enjoyable performance! TY!

  • He sings very warmly, like talking to me...

  • Charming. A great singer.

  • poesía puera

  • Thank you so much! I've never heard this aria with Sobinov- great as always.

  • Thank you! Leonid Sobinov... great tenor.

  • Why did he skip a whole passage in the middle? Was this the standard version back then?

  • 4 min.20sec. was the time limit on the records of the 1900-1950 age.

Few firms continued 1 aria on the reverse side of the disc, most were cut.

  • thank you!

  • Thaks to all of you for the comments! He is one of my favorit tenors. Sobinov (like Shaliapin or Nelepp)sings using the classical Italian techniqe (low larenx, full respiration, very clear articulation) with a very Russian musical performence, and I think it sounds wonderfull.

  • low larynx? Low larynx is corelli and the singing volcano, del monaco. They cant sing piannissimo, because of it....Notice sob's diminuendo on the word Dni onthe first line to a fila di voce. Just like piotr illych marked it. Even Kozlovski omits it.

  • @moo7chi7ld On the contrary Corelli could sing Piannissimo, note the diminuendo at the end of this one.

  • @seektheforce THANK YOU I had. noticed the pp on celeste aida, long after I wrote this. But what about the lisping in corelli's pronunciation? Did he have a speech problem? or was it the low larynx intereing ?

  • @moo7chi7ld I think you should talk to someone more qualified than I. I don't know.

  • @moo7chi7ld it's the low larinx and the tonge aout of the back of the throat that makes him sound a bit strange specially in some S

  • @moo7chi7ld Corelli could sing pianissimo, watch?v=j8gkIPg7pw0

Note the diminuendo at the end.

  • The tenors today should listen to Soboniv since he also exemplified the old school of singing without forcing or swallowing the voice, while allowing the focus to carry the tone.

  • Thank you,RADAMES1983 !

Sobinov is one of my favorit opera singers!

  • fantastic. very similar to gedda.
