I had installed this lock on my car and the steering wheel was cut the next night. They used some type of electric saw. They cut it in three places, but I see that two would have been adequate. The wheel can be easily bent.
This will only protect from opportunistic drug addicts who don't have the saw or don't have the extra few minutes and have to do it in complete silence.
It looks better than the one-hook locks but if the thief has boltcutters, why wouldn't he just cut the extending bit next to the lock? No need to cut the steering wheel at all?
daaaaamn ..... thank god that i live in a safe country ....... even if i left the windows open with the keys inside my car my car wont get stolen .......
i live in a town like that. left my truck home while i went on a week long trip, keys were in it and windows were down(luckily it didnt rain) and it was still there when i got home. didnt even worry about it while i was gone.
These are very effective. if they still sell them, they used to have a model that would zap you if you touched anything but the little hole whare the key was, not sure if it was a good idea, but it was interesting
No, he would have to cut the steering wheel in four places, not two, and it would be extremely awkward and time-consuming. Could a car be stolen even with this device on the wheel? Sure, the easiest way being to just put it on a flat-bed tow truck. But this device will cut down your chances of being a victim of a car thief by 90% 1o 95%, and that's more than worth it. -IG

he says you have to cut it in 4 places; all you have to do is cut out the 6 inch section on the short side; the wheel is still very useable

why not bring a hacksaw and just cut off the long end of the bar, head back to the shop and then take the rest of the lock off?

You'd only have to cut it in two spots. Pick a side, cut & bend the steering wheel and then just pull it off.
You don't even need bolt cutters, a simple hack saw is more than adequate.

in south africa they just cut the steering wheel off and use a pair of grips and drive it away, so don't waste your money.
