I love to watch Duddy,however,his lack of defense and the fact that he cuts easier than melted butter isnt going to help either. He has the offensive skills to compete with some of the top guys..just dont know about the rest..fun as hell to watch though.
Too much pressure is put on these fighters and they are expected to achieve too much too soon instead of training till they have reached their full potential and then take on the tougher opponents. Duudy should not take on Pavlik yet, he has the potential to be world class just not yet. Still he's one of the most exciting boxers around today.
I love Duddy, I love Pavlik both exciting fighters but Pavlik is way more polished and a better boxer. IMO, Duddy stands little chance against him, he was hit so much in his last fight, if he were to get hit with Pavliks punches like he did in his last fight, it won't go past 2 rounds.
I agree, karbazz, Duddy needs to improve his defense a lot if he thinks he can compete with Pavlik. Andy Lee too, who just got stopped because he fought without any discernible plan. Fighters getting over promoted only hurts the fighters when they get moved up too quickly. Duddy or Lee could be good with more experience. Until they gain that experience, they would be fools to fight for a title. Sergio Mora recognized this and didn't fight Taylor, a fight he certainly would've lost at this point.

I agree but in defense of Lee, that was a BS stoppage. The ref stopped the fight after Lee landed a punch. Lee really must have been something if he got Stewarts attention. He was too over confident, Vera was taylor made for him style wise but this is what heppens when you step up in class, even a little bit, you get exposed.

I love to watch Duddy,however,his lack of defense and the fact that he cuts easier than melted butter isnt going to help either. He has the offensive skills to compete with some of the top guys..just dont know about the rest..fun as hell to watch though.

Too much pressure is put on these fighters and they are expected to achieve too much too soon instead of training till they have reached their full potential and then take on the tougher opponents. Duudy should not take on Pavlik yet, he has the potential to be world class just not yet. Still he's one of the most exciting boxers around today.

I love Duddy, I love Pavlik both exciting fighters but Pavlik is way more polished and a better boxer. IMO, Duddy stands little chance against him, he was hit so much in his last fight, if he were to get hit with Pavliks punches like he did in his last fight, it won't go past 2 rounds.

I agree, karbazz, Duddy needs to improve his defense a lot if he thinks he can compete with Pavlik. Andy Lee too, who just got stopped because he fought without any discernible plan. Fighters getting over promoted only hurts the fighters when they get moved up too quickly. Duddy or Lee could be good with more experience. Until they gain that experience, they would be fools to fight for a title. Sergio Mora recognized this and didn't fight Taylor, a fight he certainly would've lost at this point.

I have nothing against Irish fighters, but Andy Lee will need a lot more experience, especially after his TKO loss tonight, if he's going to fight Pavlik, who has proven himself an elite fighter. Both Lee and Duddy have a lot of potential, though. I hope they're given the proper time to gain and hone skills so they can compete with elite fighters.

I agree but in defense of Lee, that was a BS stoppage. The ref stopped the fight after Lee landed a punch. Lee really must have been something if he got Stewarts attention. He was too over confident, Vera was taylor made for him style wise but this is what heppens when you step up in class, even a little bit, you get exposed.

I agree, karbazz, he was throwing punches when it was stopped. Lee definitely can regroup and come back. He has tools. And if Steward thinks he has it, I tend to believe it. Lee should regroup and have a rematch with Vera after a couple of confidence building fights. He should've been working the body more and throwing combinations. Maybe his own hype got to him ... it has to be a lot of pressure when everyone is saying you're the next big thing.

duddy looked terrible against a weak opponent in smichet on the klitschko-ibragimov undercard last saturday. barely scrapped by and got cut up pretty badly. i'm really disapointed in this guy. pavlik would KO him within 3. duddy's like a 3rd reel arturo gatti and has no defence, he shouldn't even be ranked top 15 iddlewight after that debacle. hopefully Lee proves he ain't all hype. i think the only one with a hope of beating pavlik now is winky unfortunate;y and i don;t like pavlik or winky.

i am by no way discrediting irish fighters, just being realistic. and yes that's probably true but that can be said about a lot of countries with smaller populations that have produced world class fighters. just imagine cuba if they were allowed to turn pro who knows what kinda crazy talent they have hidden there. I mean just by the guys that defected alone they're in the top 5-6 boxing countries ever and only a very small percentage of their boxers have been able to defect.
