My grandparents in Ukraine have garden too. Its like this pretty much. They have apples too but sour and small..they are hard to grow. Rasberry grows every week we eat it with sugar :) and fresh vegetables are better healthier and cheaper than baught.
We also have like a barn with chickens and cat. They live in an appartment and walk there and back a couple times a day.
It's like a suburban village juuust next to city. For other food and stuff they take cab to centre 20 min. Miss them ...
There is something that cannot be easily described when meeting those that feel contentment from having their hands in the living soil and who nurture life for their sustenance.
Thanks for the inspiring post, thanks
We've had a bumper crop for apples this year, but I suspect colder times ahead.
Growing news reports show glaciers & arctice ice increasing to recover losses.
Skiing conditions in NZ, Can, Switz forecasting ideal.
cucumbers... again cucumbers.... oh cucumbers!! more cucumbers lol

Thanks.
I am from Idaho. It is fun to see what grows there and wheat does not
We have thimbleberries and huckleberries. You will not have these but they are tasty.
Horseradish is one of my favorites. How do you use this there?
The White flower is a daisy (in our language).
Potatoes and beans are what I am used to see in Idaho.
Mountain Ash is a tree that we used to throw the fruit at each other as kids. Our parents told us not to, but you know how it is.

I love the sound of the Russian language and its derived accent.
I truly wish that I could afford afford my own plot and be able to grow organic food, it would be a dream come true.

Neat, except for the gooseberry and cherry tree I have the same plants in my garden and just a little further along in the season here in Ohio.
I have a sunflower which grew to 14 foot with a head about 16 inches across.

Bug holes in the cabbage mean that your granny doesn't use much pesticide. Smart , healthy way to live.
