  • playing the guitar is a lot like drumming....chords can be easy but I've seen millions who just DON'T have rhythm or timing....think of your strumming as drumming.....this song is ALL about the strumming pattern.....fail, so far Dude..tap in out and learn the rhythm FIRST

  • lmao, I learned to play this song after 10 minutes playing guitar for the first time perfectly.

  • nice job keep it up you'll get it

  • Sorry, but aftrer 5 Weeks I played 'Nothing else Matters' by 'Metallica' perfectly.

  • @ZhayRevler that doesn't matter

  • people who are bashing the guy need to STFU and GTFO. I can't remember how good i was after 5 weeks but i can promise you it was not much better, if any than this.

though to be honest i don't see why you would post a video up of this. But keep playing, you will get it...it's really not bad just have to work on the transition between chords - which takes time.

  • @kombatkarl1989 I have had more comments on this video then any other. I agree most people that comment can't even play the guitar but it's ok. I do agree this video is really bad but this was week 5 for a person who is teaching himself the guitar.

The reason I posted this video was because my channel is about "Learning how to play an acoustic guitar". It's been 2 years now and I can play much better (my singing is still very poor) I know I'll never be a great guitar player but I enjoy it.

  • Just work on the chord changes and it 'll all be fine :D I'm playing about 5 weeks now, like you on the vid and play a few simple songs like: Worth dying for, state of the union from rise against, all apologies, heart shaped box, come as you are from Nirvana... stuff like that

  • perfect chords, but you're out of rhythm, its a nice song - fact :)

  • uhh; dude; you dont know houwda play; dont post vids of u practicing; we wana c ppl PLAY !

  • try not pausing between your chords and it sound alot better and keep your hand flowing with the strumming

  • Hey, we all learn at different rates. Give the guy a break. At least he's trying.

  • ... dude... i'm barely grabbing a guitar for the first time and I play it better than you....

  • @kegt Good job then. Keep it up and play the guitar because you love it not because you are good at it.

  • @Paul360Guitar that's why im doing it!

  • @kegt Hahaha Im sure you would love to demonstrate your skills. Cut the guy a break. some people work and get to practice when they can. most of us dont get to sit at home and dick off all day. Nice going Paul360Guitar, keep it up. Before too long you will be moving on to bigger, better, and harder things. And if you get a chance take a wack at Wonderful Tonight. Its a great song to learn (sappy and slow Exactly what the ladies are looking to hear). and its easy.

  • Keep it, if you want the music as a hobby then you are in a good way

  • Im sorry dude...i know your trying...but guitar just isn't your thing..Maybe arts and crafts?

  • can someone say me strumming plzzzzz

    i don't understand

  • Hi after 5 weeks your doing great keep at it im 12 mths in love it so keep going it becomes a great part of you life

  • 5 weeks? are you sure? because that wasnt too good, this is a really easy song, maybe guitar isnt your thing, like seriously

  • u got the same guitar as me -yamaha right?ne way U SUCK DUDE!!!!!!!!!!! i am on my second day of learning, and i can play it easily!!!!SERIOUSLY.i showed my friend and he din have it perfect but it was better than u!

  • dude i got this song in like 5 minuets and i'm a beginner. just establish a rhythem

  • let the rythm flow man

  • i dont mean to brag but dude i had that song on like day 4 im on week 1 and 3 days

  • for a beginner that strumming is a little trickier than it seems. i myself am not used to holding any kind of beat

  • MClown69 has some good advice on the strum pattern I'm teaching this to a mate at the moment and that's the pattern i'm using.

Your left hand fingering is spot on which is more than I can say for all the other videos I've seen on this song here on youtube and that includes the so called experts.

And I'll bet that everyone that gave a negative comment to your video plays it wrong as well. I didn't start playing till I was 37 so I know where you're coming from so Good One You.

  • MClown69's comment is good advise on the strum pattern, I'm teaching a mate at the moment and that's the pattern I'm using. I didn't start till I was 37 so I kow what it's like.

Your left hand fingering is spot on which is better then every other video that I've seen on youtube including people with experience.

And I'll bet that every body here that has given a negative comment on your video plays it wrong as well so stuff them and good on you.

  • I don't have that guitar anymore but I think it was a segell.

  • oh and i think you've got the same guitar as me

    It's a cort isn't it?

  • i'm pretty sure that this here is the most hardest way to play it.

Just use Em and D6add9(whatever you call it, first finger moves up from the A string to the E string and then mutes the A string so it can't ring out)

Your strum pattern is also much more difficult than the original which is basically on the Em chord: DD DUDU

    then switch to D6add9:DUDU UDU

there are some variations trough, but as this is a beginner vid, there's no point in explaining them

    PS:You progressed pretty fast ;-)

  • Im 39 and just started playing guitar. I wasn't fortunate enough to get my first guitar growing up as a child. Insted I got Hot Wheels and Star Wars action figures, a non-transferable skill for the adult life. I will give you 5 stars for your humble effort. You can only get better.

  • For 'semperlupe'. re your request for TABS, I can help. The verses are Em and D6/9 (2nd fret 6th string and 2nd fret 3rd string - whilst muting 5th string, but don't need to mute if not used to it.) Then the chorus simply cycles through Em9 (2nd fret 5th and 2nd fret 1st string and Dmaj9 (2nd fret 2nd and 3rd strings and don't play string 6 and 5) Hope this helps

  • Free up your strumming arm a little, let it move around more. You're acting like your wrist is rusted up.

  • pretty good. can you give me the tabs?^^

  • u need a better strumming pattern and to get your timing down. slow down some. the strum pattern goes. down, down, down,up,down up then switch chords and go down,up, down. up, up,down, up and ya got it

  • i just recomend that ubstead of trying to pinpoint strum every chord you just practice getting the rhythm of moveing your fingers across the strings. i couldnt do as much as your doing at week 5. so good job

  • play with your thumb behind in the middle of the neck, play with your finger tips, this sucks and is hard to do,but eventually itll help out

it is the correct way to play

  • I have to laugh. You're taking it well,,by your responses. There are some good tips people have added. The one thing you don't seem to have though, is the natural ability to strum the tune. I bet if you were to do this again, you would have waited a day or two and listened to it back. I am assuming this was an honest attempt.

  • hey thanks it helped me out with the song

  • i learned it on 2 weeks

  • Dude get some help from someone that actually plays guitar, i learned this on my third day of playing guitar

  • Horrible

  • Ignore these idiots with the negative comments mate! Everybody starts the same you wasn't born playing a guitar! i was the same when I started a year ago! Now I can play stuff like AC/DC and Metallica with solo's without any problem, it just takes time and a lots of practice! as long as you enjoy it, that's the main thing, it's not a competition, that says you have to play brilliant within a set time.

  • Like the video, I am a begginer too and knowing that I am not the only one who finds learning tough gives me hope, particularly as I can see from the later ones that you have progressed well. What I try to do is to make sure that the rythm keeps going even if my fingers are wrong, it sounds like you are doing things the other way round. I can recommend Siggi's lessons they have really helped me a lot.

  • You shouldn't feel sorry for anything but yourself. Honestly this video just screams "I suck at guitar!" take the comment and deal with it because I read through some of these comments and most of these people will agree with me.

  • I think it would be great to see one of your videos. I'm sure you are an expert at playing the guitar. It would really be nice to see a video of you playing the guitar after oly picking up the guitar for 5 weeks.

If you don't have any videos or don't play the guitar, then blahahah.

  • ok 5 weeks... great, so why you post a vid if you don't play great?? practice and then post when you learn this song so good that people can give 4 or 5 stars- yt isn't dump! (sory for english)

  • @Paul360Guitar dude... i'm barely grabbing a guitar for the first time and I got that better than you... after 5weeks... and such an easy song... really??

  • yes you are learning, here is a tip, instead of playing it, just change your fingers from cord to cord, after you can do that start strumming, watch videos of it, to learn it...after that, when you play it just look at your strumming hand, that will help your fretting hand transition from each cord better.

  • Oh, u'r trying ur best. So I think U'r so really cool. But trying a little bite focus on ur strumming pattern. It'll better after u pratice on it. Hope u will succes. I have a clip on this song as well, so if u have a time, u can check it out. I'm not really good either. So don't feel sad abt these comment below.

  • Dude...you suck at guitar, just give up now you completely butchered this song...get out of your mom's basement and do something your good at, if there is anything...

  • Some may say I suck and others may disagree with your comment. Either way, it really doesn't matter because I enjoy playing the guitar.

If you watched any of my other videos you would know that I am not a young punk that has no life and lives in the basement of my mothers house.

I feel sorry for these types of people.

  • your playing the wrong chords to start off with but good try

  • oh god...awfull...sorry man

  • glennekeuh shut the fuck up mate it took be all but a couple hours to learn this song

  • You're all a bunch of shortsighted fags. This guy probably hasn't had 5 weeks 24/24 time to learn the guitar. After 5 weeks your fingers just aren't trained enough to handle the coördination for each finger individually and your strumming is still a little sloppy. Is he bad? No, he's a beginner. Are you all a bunch of frustrated liars trying to discourage this guy? Yes, yes you are.

  • sorry bro i no your learning but your strum pattern is ALL wrong.

  • sweet i havethat guitar

  • I learned it my first day of high school in guitar. Took 5 minutes and the whole class had it...

  • give this kid a break sayin all this stuff how you learned it so fast. he prolly just started playing, everyone has to start somewhere. Keep it up kid!! you'll be tearin it up in no time.

  • stfu. he's probably better at this now than he is in the video

  • this song took me around 5 minutes at max to learn

  • You can tell that he hasn't been playing long. All you do is look at the fingers on the neck. If they change from easy chords with little fluency you know they either suck, or havn't playing guitar for a while.

  • I learn this song in 3 min.

  • well pretty bad,

i got it in 4 hours

its really the easiest song i know

    i just got skilled

my fingers by plaing guitar hero

    lol

    keep it up

  • dude listening to this shit makes me so wana punch a baby!

  • If you dont like this then you would really hate my 1st week learning to play a guitar.

  • LOLZ

  • i keep muting my 1st string on this song...any

    one else have this problem

  • You mean the high E or the low E? The 1st string is the high E. The 6th string is the low E

  • might be easier for you to use your index and middle finger to fret the chords.

  • Not bad but you need to work on rhythm. I picked up my guitar 3 days ago and am learning this song as well. I have it all down, but I need to work on my rhythm as well. Good luck!

  • This song makes me so mellow

    like that taste of marshmallow

like a little bird called swallow

this is a felling i should allow
