Love that bass sound too. Clear but thick attack and fast decay. You gotta hate that 90s never ending sustain on upright bass. Ben's sound is much more percussive, rhythmic as this instrument should be, in the great tradition of Chambers, Brown, Mingus, Blanton. It also has a great organic feel to it.
I hate the term "creative". It sounds smug and has become meaningless by self-righteous b+st+rds using in every occasion. After all, my body "creates" poop everyday and so does anyone's. No one has ever called me "creative" for that. I think "personal" is a much better term.

I love the sound of this band. Somewhat similar to Michael Blake's "Drift" or "Kingdom Of Champa".
These guys played with my jazz band at canton high school...it was a blast!...drummer messed with our drumset tho lol pissed us off at the time, but we were dumb. Naturally all the girls were crushing on ben.
@ngoah89 Well unfortunately most people are thick as shit, having the attention span of ADHD afflicted plankton, and would rather watch a block of cheddar cheese melt slowly on their middle toe than have to engage themselves in anything remotely artistically explorative. Kind of makes it hard for real appreciation to be garnered on the scale that it deserves here. Hey at least I'm being positive though, huh?
Steve Cardenas was my guitar teacher when he was 19 in kansas city I still have all his hand written out lessons for me...he's one of the nicest people besides being able to rip a guitar to shreds if he wants
OOOhhhhh! imo, The only modern jazz worth listening to. BA found the only 'jazz' guitarist I enjoy. It's terrible living in the anti-jazz Southeast US!
Ben Allsion is just great. i had the chance to see them perform at Parkjazz in Kortrijk, Belgium and they just outperformed all the other bands there. Their compositions are complex, sophisticated & very contemporary, but yet so enjoyable. I think their potential is unique & we should see more great things coming from them
very tough.. paints a picture of a day in the life of the epic tradgedy of the slums that surrounds our nations captital.(Ivy City especially)I love ben.. Man everybody keep ya'll head up.
the guitar in this song and especially the original, one of my favorite guitar parts of all time!! big ups.

One of the most creative jazz composers of the last 50 years, with one of the most creative and unique guitarists in the history of jazz!
This CD (Little Things Run the World) and the following (Think Free) are wonderful! Not to mention the previous ones

They should be Madison Square Garden. They're much better than Lady Gaga and she's got a whole week lined up at MSG!

is it just me or is horton's tone a little nasal in the middle register? i wish b.a. would work with rob mazurek.
cardenas, sarin and blake are, of course, totally sick.
