  • the guitar in this song and especially the original, one of my favorite guitar parts of all time!! big ups.

  • Who the fuck is the 4 peoples who disliked ?????

  • Just Amazing, Welcome to the Fusion Jazz World :)

  • awesome drummer

  • 4 people listen to country music

  • Maybe they should play at high schools so kid's have a chance to escape the crap they are exposed to.

  • Steve Cardenas shreds this up.

  • Love that bass sound too. Clear but thick attack and fast decay. You gotta hate that 90s never ending sustain on upright bass. Ben's sound is much more percussive, rhythmic as this instrument should be, in the great tradition of Chambers, Brown, Mingus, Blanton. It also has a great organic feel to it.

  • I hate the term "creative". It sounds smug and has become meaningless by self-righteous b+st+rds using in every occasion. After all, my body "creates" poop everyday and so does anyone's. No one has ever called me "creative" for that. I think "personal" is a much better term.

    /rant

I love the sound of this band. Somewhat similar to Michael Blake's "Drift" or "Kingdom Of Champa".

  • One of the most creative jazz composers of the last 50 years, with one of the most creative and unique guitarists in the history of jazz!

This CD (Little Things Run the World) and the following (Think Free) are wonderful! Not to mention the previous ones

  • I love the break beats Jungle(Drum and Bass)

  • excuse the crude image, but this guitar solo makes me cream my pants

  • This guy Steve Cardenas is an animal. Absolutely great stuff.

  • this guy has definitely listened to a lot of metheny. but he's got some really nice original twang goin for him.

  • Just an FYI. Ben Allison is the bass player.

  • i know that...... was talking about cardenas

  • Wow wow wow. I haven't been this impressed by small-group jazz in a long time! That guitar player is just killing it. (In a good way)

  • Love this tune! Great to see a video of Mike Sarin too.

  • Their album, 'Little Things Run the World' is one of the best new jazz cd's of recent memory. Phenomenal.

  • fuck... Ben Allison is great

  • If you like these guys, check out happy apple

  • word.

  • does this band tour the west coast?

  • his music is so underrated

  • These guys played with my jazz band at canton high school...it was a blast!...drummer messed with our drumset tho lol pissed us off at the time, but we were dumb. Naturally all the girls were crushing on ben.

  • these guys shouldn't be playing at high schools

  • ...as in they are good and deserve better?

  • yes

  • @boxfactoryband

They should be Madison Square Garden. They're much better than Lady Gaga and she's got a whole week lined up at MSG!

  • @ngoah89 Well unfortunately most people are thick as shit, having the attention span of ADHD afflicted plankton, and would rather watch a block of cheddar cheese melt slowly on their middle toe than have to engage themselves in anything remotely artistically explorative. Kind of makes it hard for real appreciation to be garnered on the scale that it deserves here. Hey at least I'm being positive though, huh?

  • @boxfactoryband Yes, but kids these days need to hear music like this.

  • Little things run the world is a monster album.

  • Steve Cardenas was my guitar teacher when he was 19 in kansas city I still have all his hand written out lessons for me...he's one of the nicest people besides being able to rip a guitar to shreds if he wants

    thanks Steve

  • OOOhhhhh! imo, The only modern jazz worth listening to. BA found the only 'jazz' guitarist I enjoy. It's terrible living in the anti-jazz Southeast US!

  • I feel you 100%. If you want to hear jazz down here, you have to play it yourself.

  • same here. btw is this chris from birmingham?

  • I've done some gigs in Bham...Several years ago, I went to the University of Montevallo and was in Birmingham a good bit. I'm further south, now.

  • nice groove.

  • fucking greatttt!

  • Ben Allsion is just great. i had the chance to see them perform at Parkjazz in Kortrijk, Belgium and they just outperformed all the other bands there. Their compositions are complex, sophisticated & very contemporary, but yet so enjoyable. I think their potential is unique & we should see more great things coming from them

  • very tough.. paints a picture of a day in the life of the epic tradgedy of the slums that surrounds our nations captital.(Ivy City especially)I love ben.. Man everybody keep ya'll head up.

  • is it just me or is horton's tone a little nasal in the middle register? i wish b.a. would work with rob mazurek.

cardenas, sarin and blake are, of course, totally sick.

  • Awesome! I've always loved this song. That guitar riff is great.

  • Great...i've discovered Ben Allison today and he's great!! Great composition and bass playing...5 star acoustic music!

  • just beautiful
