PAL continues - in SCART, (S-)VHS, and in many digital and analogue video camcorders. I have 2 625-line camcorders (one compact VHS, one Video( Hi)8) and 1 576-line camcorder (my Canon MV960 digital camcorder, uses DV tape)
Also, ( Hi) was not a grammar error. It requires a space at the beginning.
At least Welsh people can now get proper Channel 4 and not just the programmes Sianel Pedwar Cymru has cherry-picked.
Must have annoyed English, Irish and Scottish viewers on holiday in Llandudno or Rhyl or Pwllheli, turning on BBC 1 or 2 and not getting what they would expect, or tuning in to what they think of as Channel 4 and getting Pobol Y Cwm and Newyddion instead of Brookside and having to stay up to 10 pm to watch Brookside!
1. What is Mux 1/C, CH51, CH41/+, CH43-, BBCA, CH30/-, Arquiva A? (I dont know what they all mean/ stand for.) Is it like bandwith or frequency or something?
2. At 5:06 what is the blue dialogue box on the smaller TVs screen? Is it from Windows or something to do with ur TV?
3. Why did ITV go into BBC2s place?
4. Why did BBC News freeze on screen?
Ok thanks and Im a teen so I dont know much about it, and I wanna record my region when I switch over in the west! :)
@Jamiep84 Haha. I work at the local TV station where we had to switch channels one day too. The modulator, which is the device that sends audio and video to either a cable TV relay or a UHF/VHF transmitter, does not have multiple outputs and usually you don't have multiple cables - you simply have to change the frequency.
You have to do that w/ a screwdriver - usually, on the front there are screws you have to turn to change to the desired frequency.
Quite a historical event and you captured it well here. Shame the TV channels didn't do something ceremoniously like they did in America. Just off during a rugby match. O well, Goodbye BBC2! Just wait to 31st now for it to all happen again. Hope you will document this as you've done here!
BBC TWO finishing with Your The Best Around. Indeed it was

Thanks for uploading this =)
I wonder why they briefly turned off the UHF51 transmitter - they could have switched the leads around while it was still on.

That's why it seems they turn it off.

Last night for our full switchoff, BBC 1 broadcasted a lovely message before switching off the signal. Did you manage to capture this?
