In Australia, it's a more common practice to send them out to auction when a mining company decides they don't want to do anything with them. local CAT dealers even do some reconditioning on them, so they can sell them used. The engines and generators in the Komatsus could be turned into power generating plants, the CATs could be either sold or stripped for parts. They're out of their minds to do this!
I love this video, when I see them trucks I just cant stop thinking what were they used for what did the building. Is there some place now that many people live at and don´t have any idea about them trucks. So many untold story´s could be told about them trucks and the drivers.
@michaelovitch Yes, I suppose they have been sitting a long time, and Caterpillar (and others) must be very happy. It also must be nice to have so much mondy that you can just abandon millioins of dollars in equipment.(although its probably a tax write-off- the kind of advantages not available to mere taxpaying mortals like us)
WHY IS THAT THEY CAN`T FIX THOSE POOR TRUCKS, I KNOW THAT PROBABLY THE ENGINE DOES NOT WORK NOR OTHER OTHER BREAKABLE PARTS, ITS EASY JUST FIX THE CHASSIS, CONTROL ROOM,ETC, THEY ARE JUST PLAIN INRESPONSIBLE!
nothing pisses me off more then letting good machines goto pot all because their owners are a bunch of @#%%$^, the inner machanic in me says fix em, or sell em, dont let um rust away like that.
I work in a mine and see this happen all the time. Eventualy the hard use cases cracks in the frames and drivelines wear out, There comes a point where it costs you more to try and keep an old truck running than to simply replace it
I bet they stuck the tires so that no one would try and steal one. Although why would they care those trucks haven't seen a road in probably ten years
the company i work for has stuff older than these. we still run a few euc r-85,s and some wabco haulpacks. its a shame to see that much money just sitting there
hey why dont you salvage for parts??? even a used door handle can be sold for a min. of $ 90 and the rims can be painted and reused and can be sold for $ 5000 each!!! the mine still has diamonds in it!!! but still sooooooooooooo sad
The Russians are some of the toughest people on this planet...hate to see this shit...be a wonderful world were the U.S. and Russia friends....saner and safer for all.
Pathetic! Those trucks could have been reused for construction projects, land reclamation, and numerous road-rehabilitation/reconstruction projects for a fraction of the cost of new trucks. I don't understand why no contractor, quarry, mine, or even farmer would consider these machines which could be fixed for a fraction of the cost of a new truck.
It's a shame that these trucks are allowed to rot in the elements. These trucks can be used for a variety of jobs in construction projects (especially road construction and highway upgrades), quarries, oil sands, and even agriculture. I don't understand why not even one construction company, quarry, or agribusiness has expressed interest in these trucks. This is pathetic.
I ma sorry this is happening. Here are some ideas:Try to have an auction to get rid of these haulers.Have then be broken down for parts.Have a American equipment company that breaks these earthmovers down and see if they can do anything.Parts will always be needed.
This is sad. Perhaps another good example of failed socialism run amuck. It aint' mine so who really gives a dam to actually fix it and get some more use from this equipment. Now our government wants to run health care!
Who flattened all the tires, what's the cost of these machines??? couldn't russia afford to refit the trucks, instead of abandoning them, so much waste in this world.
The thing is if something breaks the cost and effort together with the loss of income the period it takes to fix it often exceeds the cost of a new machine...
I'm saying that I thought it was a good example of how our world gets destroyed by some organizations that simply does not understand how dangerous this is for our world, for our nature, for our environment. They purchase new trucks as soon as the old ones are "used" (meaning that these rusty old dumpers actually should be repaired instead of left standing, dripping oil and whatnot). I think it's an example of a lack of understanding; they don't recycle, they just pollute.
Yes they could sell them to others country or repair them to use with less intensity of work but i think they rust because those trucks when they are used they stay used : they are made in very little quantity and sell parts for repair is not a good operation for the manufacturer.
Sell new model is better for him :)
And the reality is that (i think) those trucks really suffer in their life because of the enormous mechanical constraint and deserve a good retreat ;).
i have 5 cusins that work in a coal mine in wyoming i dont know about that dimond mine but there they replace the old trucks as soon as a bigger model comes out to increase production and save on fuel costs the old ones sit for a while but the mettle gets melted down and reused and the only tires that are wasted are beond gettin a boot or recaped so no part of the old machines are wasted
a history of leaving equipment behind..

Yep
But I think they prefer to buy new ones more efficient.
the lack of customers/competitors with enough money to buy those in this country is maybe one reason why they are rotting there too.
It's Russia and Alrosa is the big one in this activity.

thanks for the new explanation
i understand now what you said
my English is just an "school English"
About this waste i agree with you it's the new Russian business as said in the commentary.
it's a the one and very (alone) diamond company in this country.
So they buy and let the old trucks rusting in the snow...
