I always assumed it was the type of flatiron I was using so I was going from one to the next getting the same result....the stiff hair look and never could get to the roots. Im glad I found your video....I would never have thought to rough dry it with the blowdryer first :) will be trying it today!

I just straightened my hair before I watched this, I have medium-long length naturally wavy/puffy hair. When I straighten my hair I tie up the sides and leave the back down, straighten small portions of the back part of my hair, then once thats straight, I let the sides down and straighten them, I have a Remington straightener. Would that be a good way to straighten hair?

This helped me because I wasn't properly using flat irons in the past, nor the correct products at that time. Some years back, I made an attempt to stop relaxing and got frustrated at not getting my hair straight on my own. @supernyny360 I'm happy to hear that. 13 is a great age to learn to take care of yourself. I've seen many young ladies damage their hair and skin by doing the wrong things. I now have hope for my newlt cut hair , its extremly curly and whenever i starighten it it goes back to curly within the hour but now i really think i can have straight hair!!

THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH FOR YOUR TUTORIAL... I cut my hair off completely off with clippers with out a guard because i had a perm and it started to damage the mid section of my hair .. it took me a year to grow my hair back i went through the cute curly little fro stage to the nice size fro stage to the i don't know what to do with it stage *point of where I'm at today..my hair is to the middle of my back.. i wanted to perm it so bad until i came across your video.. I did see the Instyler review and the Wen products review. I think the flat iron is a better choice for me also. It does an excellent job. I may also try wen products too. I've been debating for a while but I think you and I have similar hair texture and the products worked well for you.
Thanks! I didn't realize I could keep deep conditioner in for that long! I'm going to try it. I'm also going to look into the Wen products. I tried something called Hair One at Sally Beauty Supply. I think it's a Wen knock off, it worked well, but I think I might like Wen better.

Not sure if you can help me, but I'm a white chick whose hair is super course and curly and thick. It kind of stays where I put it and doesn't want to flow like straight hair. I can't shake my head even when it's straight or it will tangle. My hair tangles just sitting there! I was wondering if there are any product I could use that might help? My hair is so dry that it sucks water like a sponge so I started using an olive oil shampoo and conditioner,it only helped a little :(. Ur so pretty btw!
@mamma0daddy Oh thank you for your kindness. Deep conditioners are a huge help. I will put together a video at some point showing what I use. Apply the conditioner, comb your hair through, leave it on for at least 30 mins and sit under a hood dryer if you can (you can even sleep in it). You will notice a huge difference. I went out and bought a BaByliss flat iron after watching this video. Gotta say that I love the way my hair turns out after using it. I had never been able to get that 'salon look' at home on my own before. People don't believe I do it myself.

@teixeiraangel Awesome question. I only straighten my hair about every 10-14 days. I only pass the flat iron over each strand of hair 1 to 2 times. I also recommend deep conditioning your hair every time you shampoo. Have you checked out my video on "Wen" products or everyday makeup?

@HEKNOWSTHEPLANS Yes ma'am. You can follow verbatim for how to choose your best hair color. Relaxed hair is more fragile so I do not recommend bleaching, decolorizing hair, or drastically lightening your hair. Have you checked out my makeup and product review videos?

Great video! The ends of my hair seem to be frizzy after I flat iron. My hair also seems s little puffy. Does the skinny serum help with puffiness. Please help! Frizzy ends and lioness hair :)
@MsKinicki Thanks for your question. Try out this method but make sure to hold the comb in place all the way through the ends. The comb helps to separate each strand and hold it in place. If this doesn't work it may be time to trim dry and/or damaged ends. I recommend trimming your ends every 2-3 months. Let me know how it works out.

I really respect that you don't chemically relax your hair. I find that its's very dehydrating and not good for hair. Also I think flat ironing does a better job and makes it look straighter, it looks healthier too and less dry. I can definitely tell the difference between relaxed and flat ironed hair. Thanks for posting this, I learned a lot of useful techniques, especially in terms of parting and holding the comb. I'm glad that I won't be burning myself anymore lol, and my combs won't melt!

THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH FOR YOUR TUTORIAL... I cut my hair off completely off with clippers with out a guard because i had a perm and it started to damage the mid section of my hair .. it took me a year to grow my hair back i went through the cute curly little fro stage to the nice size fro stage to the i don't know what to do with it stage *point of where I'm at today..my hair is to the middle of my back.. i wanted to perm it so bad until i came across your video.. I did see the Instyler review and the Wen products review. I think the flat iron is a better choice for me also. It does an excellent job. I may also try wen products too. I've been debating for a while but I think you and I have similar hair texture and the products worked well for you.

Thanks! I didn't realize I could keep deep conditioner in for that long! I'm going to try it. I'm also going to look into the Wen products. I tried something called Hair One at Sally Beauty Supply. I think it's a Wen knock off, it worked well, but I think I might like Wen better.

Not sure if you can help me, but I'm a white chick whose hair is super course and curly and thick. It kind of stays where I put it and doesn't want to flow like straight hair. I can't shake my head even when it's straight or it will tangle. My hair tangles just sitting there! I was wondering if there are any product I could use that might help? My hair is so dry that it sucks water like a sponge so I started using an olive oil shampoo and conditioner,it only helped a little :(. Ur so pretty btw!

@mamma0daddy Oh thank you for your kindness. Deep conditioners are a huge help. I will put together a video at some point showing what I use. Apply the conditioner, comb your hair through, leave it on for at least 30 mins and sit under a hood dryer if you can (you can even sleep in it). You will notice a huge difference. I went out and bought a BaByliss flat iron after watching this video. Gotta say that I love the way my hair turns out after using it. I had never been able to get that 'salon look' at home on my own before. People don't believe I do it myself.
Hoping you can help me out though! I've been straightening my hair for weeks now. Seems like I've lost my curls when my hair is wet. Is this normal? How can I get my curls back?!

@teixeiraangel Awesome question. I only straighten my hair about every 10-14 days. I only pass the flat iron over each strand of hair 1 to 2 times. I also recommend deep conditioning your hair every time you shampoo. Have you checked out my video on "Wen" products or everyday makeup?

@MsKinicki Thanks for your question. Try out this method but make sure to hold the comb in place all the way through the ends. The comb helps to separate each strand and hold it in place. If this doesn't work it may be time to trim dry and/or damaged ends. I recommend trimming your ends every 2-3 months. Let me know how it works out.

I really respect that you don't chemically relax your hair. I find that its's very dehydrating and not good for hair. Also I think flat ironing does a better job and makes it look straighter, it looks healthier too and less dry. I can definitely tell the difference between relaxed and flat ironed hair. Thanks for posting this, I learned a lot of useful techniques, especially in terms of parting and holding the comb. I'm glad that I won't be burning myself anymore lol, and my combs won't melt!
