Yes, this is the real thang! This is one of the most E.B. vids on 'Tube. Great horn on this, don't know who it is. S.F. loved E.B. Was a regular there. Lots of music people don't know what a shredder he is. Saw him with BB and Albert King. Great post! Thx!
First time I saw Elvin, besides Crabshaw Corners in Sacramento he opened for 10 Years After at UOP. Then he and Alvin Lee jammed. Pretty hard to beat. It was about 1973.
...Stevie Gurr here:growing up in San Francisco,I was a frequent visitor of the Fillmore West, especially on the Wednesday nights that featured Elvin's and Boz Scaggs' bands...I loved both bands, but Elvin ALWAYS got my attention...about 15 years later I became a member of his group, and was for about seven years...Elvin is the best band leader I've ever been around..."Red Dog" is a good piece of wood,as EB would say...check out "Big Fun",an underrated but solid recording...thanks Elvin!!!...
@emithband Hi Stevie, I remember your name but it's been a long time. I was around a lot and I have to agree with you. Big Fun - exactly what the name says! One of my best memories was in a Tahoe casino when we were told to sit back down in our chairs (no dancing), so we picked up our chairs and kept dancing and they let us be. Who can sit still at an EB show??? Not me!
Ya thanks for this ! I've loved the guy since his days with The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, when he sang "Drunk Again ". I've never seen him live, but I think he has a sense of humour too, like about slaving for the boss man, and the one about he don't care about how he dress, good stuff ! A Favourite for Blues Lovers !
Just not the same without jonny v terry tyler and jerry thats the elvin bishop band i remember and they would blow this crap away.I guess time goes bye and things change o well.
I shot this on my old digital elph and the camera only took 30 second video clips. So I spliced together a bunch of clips which makes for the choppiness. I have a new elph which has no such restrictions, so when Elvin comes back, I'll do it right.
Elvin would have gotten the credit he deserved if he didn't make us all sit around waiting for him to rip long solo on a regular basis. Too many numbers about fryin catfish and eatin' po boys, and not enough monster guitar statments--of which we all know he is immensely capable.

Been seeing' ol' Crabshaw since the 70's.
Good to see him. The most fun you can have listening to the Blues.

Thanks for posting this, choppy video overlooked. Elvin is one of very best Blues Guitarists on the planet.

For all of you goobers that are complaining about the poor quality. Get off your big butts and go see one of his shows. Superbly impressive.

The choppiness of this video ruins what would have been a great performance.

Melvin Bishop is the second greatest band of all time right behind Reo Speedwagon led by Kevin Cronin. Thanks for great video:)
