  • You have no idea how much women are like drugs. Especially if you break up with them... it's the fucking same experience, man. You want it so bad... but it'll just make you feel like shit afterward. She's fuckin heroin man.

  • They rock! I was lucky to see them a few times.

  • Follow this up with 'Forever came today' by Divine Horseman

  • ...we sit together drunk, like our fathers used to be

  • Fire of Love is the best rock album ever. I takes me far away to a special place every time I listen to it.

  • @rullangaar

Well...better than many other albums of that period...

Other inferior bands took the glory (and money).

  • It was an honor to be so close to the actual members of this great band and to actually know people who knew them in NYC back then! Great posting. I was told in the early '90s that Jeffrey wasn't likely to live much longer. It turned out to be true, alas. RIP JLP!

  • @slobomotion

New York? They were from LA. I hung out with them a couple of times and bumped into Jeffrey when in London one night at a club called The Embassy.

  • @shotwithadiamond I like Jeffrey Lee's East Texas-style accent. Drives the French crazy -- the CANNOT understand that accent! They were SO grateful when I wrote out the lyrics for them! I am from Ohio, so it's a snap! Brilliant music.

  • @slobomotion Kai Eric is my friend and knew them, and this was in NY. Kai was a fill-in band member, often bass, for a lotta groups. Kai brought Tav Falco to dinner at my Brooklyn apartment once, and he recited poetry, à la Jim Morrison. I recorded it and still have it. Good memories.

  • @slobomotion Dude . . . do your feet ever get sore from all the names you drop!!!Panther Burns were al ways outsiders in the New York scene . . . the best places they could headline were holes in the wall like Club57 tho i guess Ruth Polsky brought them to Hurrah after she has ILLEGALLY usurped power there from Jim Fouratt. Did you know Stephen Saban? I used to perform poetry at his literary salons on White but I dont think I remember you. What was your name, were you friends with Jim Fouratt?

  • @MidnightMavericks BIKINI GIRL Lisa Baumgardner check me out in the book out now by MoMA MODERN WOMEN and also UP IS UP BUT SO IS DOWN by NYU Press. I am good friends with Scibelli and Aldighieri from Hurrah and I did not meet Fouratt then cuz I stopped clubbing in the early '80s to do Wall Street. I did go to The Peppermint Lounge a little but Danceteria for me was not of great interest. I loved Club 57!

  • @MidnightMavericks There is a lot to be said for holes in the wall!!

  • @MidnightMavericks lol do your feet ever hurt classic!

  • @slobomotion Also, Brian Spaeth, my second fiancé, said Gun Club at CBGB was the best concert he ever attended.

  • @ geeze the weeze, Lisa . . . WHY do you all ways make it about yEW?

  • @MidnightMavericks Because I'm fabulous.

  • sometimes....

when im drunk and i listen to gun club, JLP makes me cry

  • saw em 9;30 club D.C. 3 times.partied with P,Morrison.cool people- Ross

  • i can't believe that i didn't hear about this band until now... i know, i'm in croatia, but anyway, everybody should know about this!!!!!

  • @mikrosom lol my mum jus told me about them.....addicted now

  • this is when rob was playing bass for the band.

  • Jefferey Lee Pierce is a god

  • Gun club was from the early '80 while the Pixies were from the mid '80s. Don't know about the Gun Club influence on the Pixies, but definitely not the other way around.

  • was this before the pixies? they have really similar voices.

  • its from 1981
