We did this the redneck way, CUSO4 on a jumper at 12VDC High Current and let it sit for 3 hours. When we where done we had pure copper plating. That is probably the cheapest way to do it. But what he is doing is the proper way.
No. For aluminum you will need some more steps: 1 oxidize Al part 2 double deep zincate 3 copper strike (cyanide, pyrophosphate or noncyanide) and only than acid copper.
I was wondering what acid you are using in the solution? also i assume you have to use an acid weak enough not to dissolve the metal in the quarter but strong enough to dissolve the copper, is that correct? thanks.
Hello there! Fantastic video, could you please post a chrome plating process that also outlines what metals can and cannot be chrome plated. Thanks and keep up the fantastic videos!
HI, how can I silverplate copper? and which kind of acid or solution do I need?

Do you know if you can copper plate steel? Or just zinc alloy.

How important is it to agitate the water? I've never seen anyone do that. Of course my copper plateing doesn't turn out well.

very interested in the chrome plating if it can be done thanks

CuSO4 @~20-30oz/gal + 9-11oz/gal of H2SO4
But 100% that he used some brightener system. Acid copper plating doesn't give such bright and uniform deposit without additives.

will it work with aluminium?

how many amps?!

In this video you say you are using 1.5V to 3V.
I found on line that the best result is obtained with constant current and not with constant voltage.
Did you do some more tests wih different setups?
Is you copper layer strong or you can remove it easily?

@imsaulgood just leave it in longer

can i plate it in a solution of an electrolyte instead of copper sulafte
MasterChief241 2 years ago
@MasterChief241
???
CuSO4 is only the copper salt used in acid copper plating.
Platingisfun 1 year ago
@Platingisfun the ions of copper can still pass through the ions of an other electrolyte like vinegar

Very nice videos on plating. Thank you for posting them. What is the composition of the blue solution used in your copper plating video?

are you kidding me??
First2ner 2 years ago
yes, but you have to coat some kindof silver film on the plastic fisrt.... you can made this with silver nitrate and hydrazine.

It looks like copper sulfate here, the copper is in a solution of its own salt and doesn't particularly corrode until the current starts.
