I think something like neurofeedback could work, but I'm skeptical about using it to become a better 'performer'. Why do we care so much about performance in this society, as if that's what really matters in our lives? To a degree, we need to be able to perform, to do our jobs competently so that we can effectively help others. But when we lose the broader picture of what's REALLY happening in our lives, we risk thinking that how you perform is the only important thing you'll do.
omfg i want that so bad. after spending a the summer with my brother i was very attentive and could multitask and could process everything so much better than i ever had the first time in my whole life as my whole life i have had nothing to do until that summer. since he left i have been getting slower and dumber and can't do what i used to i so want to get that feeling back of just being able to do so much work and do it so well and just bang out work fun activities and tasks so well
There are other ways besides neurofeedback to improve your life. Many people find a lot of benefit through either some personal prayer practice, meditation, or yoga. These have all been shown to improve the way the mind functions, and increase your overall sense of well being so that you can accomplish more.
If you're new to these, the internet is full of lots of great information on each.
Visual attention, how it works, what happens when it fails, and how it leads to dyslexia, attention deficit, and learning disorders: search "dr. laurie cestnick" and "harvard university" or "dyslexia" for a VIDEO. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
thanks for your reply. could you point me to a paper where it is given an account in microbiological terms of neurofeedback being beneficial for cognitive tasks (memory, problem solving, pattern recognition, stimuli discrimination, etc..)?
i've gotten semi-used to it. i have the paranoia back in a different form, which helps. they're going to try some things to get My emotions back :P You need emotions.
i did a workshop with Rae Tattenbaum. What took place was incredible. People in the audience were crying. My piano performance was night and day before and after just that one session (not a permanent effect in such a short time), and I am not some one who gets nervous, just distracted. This is one of the greatest tools available to people of all walks of life. Absolutely incredible.
Totally agree on the importance of coaching mentioned here - to be a peak performer, you need relevant feedback that brings you higher and enhances your results consistently - rather than just "hoping for the best"!
u control the level of that particular stimulus through brainwaves and get substantial feedback on how the stimulus is varying over time (through eyes, ears). since u have a feedback the areas responsible for the change automatically tune in order to achieve accuracy over the task. it definitely works, to the extent that u can easily learn how to control a prosthetic limb. usually in less than 20 min it is possible to control simple stuff, like the height of a growing bar.
this does not mean that neurofeedback is a general cognitive enhancer. i am not 100% sure that there's not scientific theory supporting what it's been claimed in this video, but i am quite confident to say that this does not reflect the current scientific view. i believe the gentleman was being honest in his claims, as by the same coin other people are when they r acknowledging the positive effects of what turns out to be nothing more than placebo treatments.
I worked with special kids in mexico for 20 years and now that I am retired i would like to learn from neurofeedback to help all the children living in this area where I live. Is the trainig very expensive / do you have it in spanisch and where? I' ll apreciate your advice
What do they learn from EEG... even today we don't really understand what EEG means, we can just see changes in a method called ERP... This is bullshit!!! And this guy is a dumb ass if he paid her any money.
lol, well I know neurofeedback works, the way I do it, is slightly different, but I get the best sleep I have ever had, it's a quality sleep, and I wake up completely rested, and clear headed, not groggy, and I need a lot less sleep, so I can say for myself it works, I wouldn't keep listening to it if it didn't, it wouldn't make sense to do so. You can take my word for what it's worth, and believe it or not, I have no reason to lie to you, I have nothing to sell..
This has a lot of the same flavor of Scientology/Dianetics in the sense that it's unlike traditional medicine where you don't pop a pill, you perform an exercise. Though don't get me wrong, Scientology/Dianetics is mostly pseudo-science that mostly doesn't work better than a placebo. Neuro-feedback, if better peer review experimental data becomes available, could be the thing to rewrite Freud, like Einstein rewriting Newton.
After training with Zengar neurofeedback for more than a year, my performance and focus is much better and my anxiety level is appreciably lower and is staying on track. This is a life-saving and life-enhancing technology!
hey this stuff reminds me of the stuff im going over with a friend of mine, Doc Barham, a Los Angeles life coach also known as Coach Hollywood. This stuff is Magic!
@Woman58 I hear you, I was once consumed with thought myself and it led me to chemical addictions, when I began to learn how to focus I then learned that learning is a practice which enhances awarness but there is always more to the story, the affects of distraction are based upon human transgression which is in the good book, obviously the concepts of religion are impactive when we are not taught how to think about the world around us
@waypor1 disseminating fact from fiction is related to dealing with our relationships which can fill the mind with pretended knowledge which appies to the physical presence in the comparison to peers and all the impressions that we are impregnated with due to the amount of distractions of our many forms in technology
looking forward for the book find your zone peak performance , cause ive not got the money for this experiment

Does anyone know of any neurofeedback providers with experience treating Traumatic Brain Injuries in Albuquerque, NM?

through neurofeedback ur brain learns how to control some sort of stimulus (visual, auditory).

Unortunately, your ignorance is very apparent in your comment. Why don't you do a bit of research first before showing your stupidity?
