i think the white stripes are great for putting a modern original spin to a classic sorta bluesy sound, for instance, you could say that this song wouldnt be the most complex song in the world, 4/4 time and no strange key changes or wild solos in strange modes a la malmsteen and alexi laiho and the loike, but still sounds incredibly fresh and original.

ya know all these modern 'rock bands' have no sense of what rock really means for example i don't see them doing guitar solos.. just a washed up beat going all thru the song and nothing else.. not to mention lyrics.. i can write better stuff on toilet paper while taking a dump.. and so in this respect (lyrics and guitar use) the white stripes is one of the VERY FEW modern rock bands i respect. they come closest to old school real rock... keep up the good work jack and meg ;)

People hear "formerly married couple playing in a band together" they think "oh they're just trying to make their marriage work in the public way possible! BOO!". I don't know about Meg.

The drumming doesn't suck - it's just simple. The white stripes are all about very stripped down bare bones music and her style suits it very well. She's by no means the best female drummer in the world but she's a million miles from being bad.
