There are certainly many African-American music, performance & art history scholars who would have plenty of critiques of these "dancers" & the cliches that "bring it on" might also entail in the context of the songs original release (isn't that the one & only thing Bush said he regretted from his years of war-mongering?) sold-out soul.

I still love this video. It is quite brilliant. Why the booty shaking girls you ask? Well, that is all MTV and music videos have basically been reduced to. Nick Cave's enormous talents according to the heads of MTV is not enough to appeal to their demographic, so this video was basically done in retaliation to show how completely stupid modern videos had become. Funny thing is, the first time I saw this was in Germany on a station owned by MTV. Point proven. :)

I read one interview where Nick Cave talked about this video. His record label told him it was time to make a video but he didn't know what to do for it so he asked what was popular in the US and on MTV. That that, his record label told him the best rated videos had a bunch of black girls in bikinis bouncing their butts around in front of the camera so he said "let's do that then" and that is how this video came about. Pretty funny actually.
