God Bless Shane and Jan. Hope died in their arms with all the love in the world, after being left for dead alone in the woods. I pray her story will live on and serve as a legacy of awareness brought to dogs like her everywhere. We need a lot more people like Shane and Jan.
I too wish they would give the DEATH PENALTY to abusers. If not, they should put a chain around THIS abusers neck, like he did to this poor innocent dog. Just so sorry she did not make it. This cruelty really needs to stop. There should be tougher laws and punishment. This is HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!! I feel so sad knowing she suffered so. Rest in peace, dear, SWEET HOPE!! Im heartbroken, I thought she would make it. She needed to be in traction. They et her head move too much. Its like when you break your neck they put a bird cage on you. She needed to have to head immobile. Im just sick....

This just my opinion not a fact but u can tell hope had pit bull in her. I'm assuming that when he realized she wasn't full blooded he didn't want her and was probley already abusing her to make her vicious which obviously didn't work seeing that she was a very sweet dog. I wish they would give the death penalty for animal abusers too. :'(
@Tasgaro that is exactly what type of dog Hope was. We had a Staffy that looked almost identical to her. Patches was her name and she was the best dog in the world. She passed away about 7 yrs ago and to this day my son is still missing her and he is now 20. So I know Hope had the same type of personality and to think any human could do this to her or any dog deserves the death penalty there is not any reason to ask why... We definitely are are ur voice now Hope RIP precious baby!

Like so many, I've been following Hope since she was rescued and they posted everyday and pics of her progress and because of her neck being severed, her trachea and the muscles, she couldn't swallow anymore on her own, so someone built her a 'Bailey Chair' which she stands up in to be fed and stays standing for 20 minutes to allow gravity to work the food down to her stomach, which is how she would have to eat for the rest of her life. She knew love at the end.

To know the extent of what she went through, you would have to see the first picture of her, which I did NOT include in the video... just a little bit more, her neck would have been completely severed. It destroyed her trachea, her muscles, everything in her neck except for that one artery... Her loss is devastating. Her abuser is in jail and I believe sentencing will be next month.

I'm not the rescuer... She was found and rescued by Shane Smith, a wonderful person who along with his wife Jan spent everyday at the vet's with Hope and they had adopted her and were planning to take her home when she recovered. I got to know Hope from facebook.. they have her page up there and thousands followed Hope's progress the whole time.
I'm so glad she knew what love was, even if it was only for a short time. When she passed on she knew she was loved. Thank you for trying to save her. R.I.P Hope

Thank you for rescuing her and showing her last days what live is. You were both blessed to have had one another though a short time. Thank you for saving her from dieing a lonely death. You deserve a metal.

I'm not the rescuer... She was found and rescued by Shane Smith, a wonderful person who along with his wife Jan spent everyday at the vet's with Hope and they had adopted her and were planning to take her home when she recovered. I got to know Hope from facebook.. they have her page up there and thousands followed Hope's progress the whole time.
