  • HONEY! I"M HOME!

  • Metallica really sets the tone for that place, Great pictures, Great compilation!!!!!!!

Usually I can't sit through a 6 minute video, But I had no problem this time.

  • I love TALA... anytime I'm there, I feel like I'm home!! I just feel this overwhelming connection to the place... maybe I was a patient there in my past life?? LOL

  • That's so weird about the floor spelling "LOVE" How would it have gotten there???

  • I used to transport prisoners to that place

  • I feel like I know them already, even Lilly and I might even do from the past

  • I think the person that clicked "dislike" finger must have slipped. GREAT vid...one of the best I've seen.

  • it almost been a year since i been there, i gotta admitt, it was preetty amazing.

  • I want to go here, but not for ghosts. I was alwys fascinated by places that looked similar to ruins, and this is as close as it gets down here in the olde USA.

  • I was there last year on October 25th for a day time tour plus an half hour night time tour, I'm going there next month on the 15th to stay over night. Cant wait, I'm pretty pumped, I will be taking pictures and probably most likely put them up on Youtube or something.

  • You just can NOT take a "bad' picture of this place, and it lends itself to SOOO many musical genres you just can't go wrong. Another top nothch compilation.

  • @Radar19792006 Thanks :)

  • i was there on saturday and it was absolutley amazzing... alot has changed from what i can see in your video. but it was still good when i went. i went on the all night tour and some pretty interesting things happened

  • @shainabby2 Do share :)

  • I was there today!!! I took some pics, many of the same ones in this vid. I asked the guide about straight jackets, she said they made them put them in the attic. She pointed out the building where Walter Freeman did lobotomies. She worked there for 30 years and she called him DOCTOR Freeman. She said it "wasn't bad", talking about Freemans lobotomies. She said the patients wouldn't take thorazine, they spit it back at them, so one nurse gave everyone a special treat, a cup of coffee.

  • @clintonearlwalker Thats really interesting! :)

  • i was here yesterday i took a daytime tour in October om coming back 4 a ghost hunt

  • I would love to tour this place ! I just found out recently that I have a relative, named Jesse Ice who lived and died there in the 1920's ! Wonder if he is still among the lost souls who walk the halls ?

  • @kelandspence Its possible. Its definitely a special place.

  • the music in this is a good choice

  • @blugreen123 Thanks.

  • i live in weston. did anybody knw they want to trn it into a casino?

  • @dadlilgrl61575 my tour guide said that it will take more than 5 million dollars to fix the roof from a fire that the men made in the 4th floor

  • I'd love to go to this place. I've been to Waverly.

  • @MsMercury Ive always wanted to go to Waverly.

  • @AndyDogVlog Go to the website. All the info you need is there. You can look at what dates are available and book it right there. I want to go back.

  • @ :51 Does anyone know the year that the black table was commonly in use? I have a brown one folded up in the corner of my dining room that I use to place mail and stuff on. We were thinking about getting rid of it but I noticed it in this video and from my estimate it must be somewhat old, if this room is decorated to the age at which this room was in use. Can any one tell me?

  • I would love to go there and spend the night to see what kind of spiritual stuff happens. I am extremely sensitive to evil spirits and I am sure that something would happen if I went.

  • They need to reopen some of these hospitals because there are so many people running around in society that are insane. Hell, it wouldn't hurt if many of our leaders spent an extended vacation at one of these places.

  • @shgibby61981 ya they need to but some of them are in so much disrepair that they are beyond fixer up and some of them just want to be left alone spirit wise but ya they need to reopen a lot of them

  • I feel dumb for asking this, but I couldn't find anything about it on the sight.

But is there an age limit to going to this? If so, are parents allowed to accompany?

  • You need a parents signature if youre under 18 but you can go. =) They give you a form to fill out.

  • @AndyDogVlog I went last year and I saw 6 year olds. i was 13 when I went I guess the age limit is 6.

  • may all of those poor souls rest in peace.

  • i wanted to go there so bad. maaann i fuckin live in ca!

  • back then asylums were some messed up shit

  • Thnx........A lot Lol

  • I lived in Weston for the first 9 years of my life. I played baseball here.. My stepdad and uncle were security guards. I lived a foot from the entrance, basically. The hype is so much more than the building is worth. Seriously. The change in name from Weston State Hospital to Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum is just ridiculous. Purely for money.

Not to say that anything about the place is false. It was a mental hospital. Then again, at the time, women with sexual thoughts were considered insane.

  • Hey. This is a gd vid and all but what would u guys recommend going here or moundsville penn based on ghost activity

  • TALA hands down. There is all kinds of hauntings there. Its gone through so many things its filled with history.

  • It was only ope fo the halloween event.

  • me and my boyfriend work here during the haunted house and when we were working on night me and him and several other haunted house workers see the litle girl named lilly..

yea its freaky as hell to but really fun tho :) shes creepy when she runs past u we seen her in the TB buliding

  • i'm going tomorrow night. can't wait!

  • my uncle charlie lived there when he was younger hes about 60 or 70 now but I live about an hour away from this place in reedsville WV and i will never go anywhere near it

  • I want to learn more about the asylum and the little girl Lilly.

  • i went there it was also awsome in ga

  • I live in the same town as the Asylum.

They have a haunted house there every year at Halloween.

  • I live close to here Ima go sometime =}.

  • Ghost Adventures is doing a live investigation there on friday on the tavel channel

  • i watched that. it was pretty amazing.

  • Went there last night, awesome. This place was deff worth the money, I'm ony 15.

  • Aha, agreed.

  • i herd theres a goust

  • Theres supposedly many.

  • Thet should restore that building and reopen it a a portapody

  • im goin there haloween for the witches ball and haunted house iv been there b4 and went inside b4 the tours thee guards took me ion cuz i kno em it rlly is scary i gots pics =)

  • I want to go to the Witches Ball SO BADLY. Im really hoping I can make it out with my older brother.

  • how do we do a live show here

  • What do you mean?

  • I believe theyre going on Halloween and doing a live show. I want to make a follow up to this. Ive been there three more times and have photos of the Ghost Hunters signatures.

  • nice pics,

  • you know ghost hunters went there right?

  • Yeah. We might be going to an event there in September and meet them but its hard to say if well make it.

  • Very nice pictures!!

  • Thanks very much =D

  • Ghost adventures from the travel channel will do a live 7 hour investigation here oct. 30, my great great, or great great great grandma hung herself hear with a bed sheet, i cant remember which great, lol, ill half to ask my grandma

  • I had a great uncle that was there for Epilepsy, maybe hey knew each other.

  • i cant remember what she had, but my grandma know, lol, how did your great uncle die? if it was my great great great grandma its very unlikely, but if it was great great which it may have, its possible

  • Im not entirely sure. I want to say just of old age but Im no where near 100% about that.

  • d0es any0ne kn0w where this is l0cated?

  • Weston West Virginia, S River Ave.

  • weston west virgina

  • Hey the guys from Ghost Adventures are going to be locked in there around Oct/Nov around that time... Cant wait...

  • Thats awesome. Early September TAPS is going back to do a ghost hunt, hopefully Ill be able to go to that. =)

  • relly what i herd that the people at ghost adventure are doin or have done a 7 houre specal here

  • Thats awesome. TAPS of Ghost Hunters fame come back a lot for tours. Im glad the Ghost Adventures team is coming to. I really believe its haunted, truly.

  • i think so to

  • I go to college near this asylum. We drove by it at night. It's creepy as hell.

  • Aha Ive been IN it at night, still creepy. XD

  • i think its haunted. my friend breonnas family owns this and i go in there all the time. its pretty freaky.

  • I think its haunted too. I have vids of EVPs I need to upload sometime.

  • I just visited TALA for the first time today actually lol Its really cool and pretty cheap as well. A 90min tour is $30 but we actually took over 2hrs. Very large, very silent and very creepy. Do I think it's haunted? No. But it certainly is a scary place all on its own, just for its history and isolation

  • Ive taken two day time tours, 2 floor, and 4 floor, and a night tour. Let me tell you, the place is totally different at night. Way creepier.

  • WOW.that placve looks awesome.

  • It IS awesome, lol.

  • Wow.... incredible place...

  • It really is. =)

  • Had to see it again. Making my plans to go this summer (late) or fall. The Hearse needs some front end work though, so I need to take it to work and get to fixin' on it. I would drive nothing else on one of these trips. It will be nice to see one that is in a decent state of existiance. The urban explorer thing is cool, but here I see no graffitti or outright vandalisim ie; Danvers, Byberry etc.

  • There is some slight stuff like that inside, but not much of it. Nothing like most places of the sort. For the most part it is well kept, and renovations are being made now to restore a lot of things. Its very easy to get a feel for it and imagine how it was in its hey day.

  • Thanx. At least someone has a heart and will try to save something that we should all understand. Here in Missori we had a really nice Kirkbride in Nevada that the tore down, to create nothing. Empty space.

  • Stuff like that is such a shame. Its all history. It may not be the most pleasant of histories, but its still history.

  • wow where is this?

  • west virginia

  • Weston, West Virginia to be specific. If you click statistics and data I marked it on the map.

  • Haunted or not who knows for sure. The pictures taken for this video presents a very sad lonely place. There is just a very bad vibe captured, you can just tell that something is not quite right there. I would love to explore it.

  • It is an extraordinary place. The way it feels inside that place is unlike any other place I have ever been in my life.

  • Does this one still stand? I hope so. They are so much a part of us, yet we keep demolishing them. Sad. You couldn't build one like that today.

  • Yeah it does. You can tour it actually. It was bought by a private owner a few years ago who plans to restore it and has been declared a National Historic Landmark since I believe 1990.

  • I wouldn't say painted on since it was stenciled.

My friend and I cleaned out the "love" room and when we cleaned it there was no sign of the spelling what-so-ever.

  • That doesnt really suprise me. Its just interesting that no one is aware of how it got there.

  • i just went on a tour there at T.A.L.A

  • Update The old state hosptail is recontrusting and cleaning up parts of it {working us all like dogs} wat u think bout that?

  • ITs necessary Id suppose. The building is incredibly old. For safety matters and to keep the building from getting worse its necessary. Not to mention to preserve it for its historical value.

  • Oh! And I also forgot to add that my Great-Grandfather was in this hospital many years ago, this is another reason why we want to visit. He had Alzheimer's disease, and at that time Alzheimer's disease had was not known, hence the reason he was sent to Weston. They just thought he was crazy. Rather sad.

  • Thats similar to part of my familys interest in the place. I had a great uncle who suffered Epilepsy and stayed there for the same reasons. Makes me wonder if our relatives ever knew each other. But yes, very sad indeed.

  • Very nice video, well done! My family and I are planning to go there for a tour sometime in the summer. I'm a paranormal enthusiast, but we're not going for the ghost hunt, as its something my mother wouldnt want to do, and I wouldnt want to put her through such a thing. Im just thrilled that I get to go to place that is known to be haunted!! It looks like an interesting place.

  • When you go, if there is a short old woman with short curly gray hair and glasses at the desk. Ask her about the talking light bulb at the right main staircase. She showed my brother and I how if you ask it a yes or no question itll blink in response. When someone new entered though it stopped. It was amazing. But it is definitely haunted. I took a ghost tour and got several EVPs.

  • omfg. 4:39 scared me. awesome vid, helps me a lot. im doing a 10 page report on this place so thanks for the pics. xD.

  • Glad you enjoyed it and I hope it helps. Give Credit though with the pics. Sarah Sweeney and Matthew Cumberledge. We use them as some art competition entries so its just important it is known they are ours. =) Good luck on your report!

  • i will definitely give credit.

    thanks.

  • No problem. I hope it all goes/went well!

  • it stopped in 1994

  • at 4:51, i think that was the pharmacy. it was pretty cool. you could still see all the shelves labeled with drug names...thorazine, haldol, etc. very interesting. but then again, the place was still operational for part of the 90s...

  • Yeah, I adore the whole place. I actually had a family member who lived there once. He had seizures and at the time seizures were not understood. So I have a fascination with it.

  • This is a really nice job. Your pictures are very, very, good.

I hope everyone will come see this wonderful place. We're in Lewis County, West Virginia, just on mile off Exit 99 on I-79.

  • Thanks so much, I really appreciate that.

And I agree. It is an amazing building overflowing with history and extraordinary stories.

Youre lucky to live so close.

  • hmm not all the kids that worked at the haunted house are ungrateful. i should know im one of them. but alot of them were kinda rude to the building. oh and its 100 dollars to stay the night there ^^ it gets really creepy there at night ive sayed there till around 3:30 in the morning working with the haunted house. i defentaily recomend trying it. the history is amazing too. i can't belive all the stuff that building has seen. did u know all the hand cut rocks werefrom the west fork river ?

  • Yeah they told us that on the tour. Pretty interesting. ^^

And I only say the kids were ungrateful because they showed us stuff that was put up that has yet to be removed even though the kids promised they would come back and clean it off.

  • nice shots put to a cool song.

the history was a nice addition too.

the building is just awesome! i could probably spend all weekend in it.

    how were the tunnels?

  • Thanks so much! And I know. I could stay there all day. It really captivates you like no other place Ive ever visited.

What do you mean how were the tunnels?

  • there werent tunnels?

most complexes like these had steam tunnels

  • It very well may of. But the complex is unfathomably huge. We only toured the main building. There were several others. And a few places were off limits because they need to renovated for safety.

  • The person in the pic getting a lobotomy in the ice pick display is Howard Dully, one of the youngest lobotomy patients known in America. He wrote a book about it called "My Lobotomy." Nicely preserved place. Most are smashed up after the idiots go through it.

  • Yeah. It is a beautiful place. Its a shame there is some graffiti damage due to an incident with cops and some from some ungrateful kids who hosted a haunted house there though. But the building remains beautiful and enchanting.

  • Exploited!

  • How so? Could you please explain?

  • Great video! The pics do justice! I have family from Weston and have been traveling there for years. I remember when the hospital was in use. My Mom has retired and moved back to Weston. I plan to share the video with her, since she does geneology research. I'm sure she would appreciate the pics. Thanks again!

  • Thanks so much. I hope she enjoys it. =]

  • She thought it was NEAT!

  • So glad to hear it. =]

  • I hate how you guys always put some hellof loud music on your vids all the time it takes away from your pictures so much more than it gives, I want to really experience the images and not have some hella loud music.

  • First of all its not "hella" loud. Secondly, if this sort of thing bothers you I suggest you turn off the volume. Simple as that.

  • wow I never thought of that, thanks for the suggestion AndyDog! I will turn the volume down, thats a hella good idea.

  • i happen 2 like the song.... i find it kool i like metallica anayways, is this the "haunted insane asylum" i've been hearing about? i've been thinking about going there if this is the "haunted" 1. please reply.

  • Yes, this is very haunted. You may of heard of it called Weston State Hospital. Its old name. I actually took a ghost tour and it was scary. I have some voice phenomenon to upload once I install the software of a woman's cackle we didnt hear at the time. And I was grabbed by something. My brother also has an EVP of breathing which he says he felt while he was in the room. Its definitely worth a visit! And the money for a night tour. :)

  • ok thank you is it very expensive? how much and do u happen 2 no wat county it is in i live in nicholas county and idk how far away it is

  • My brother arranged it all (I thought I replied but I dont see it so I will again just in case). But their website, just google the asylums name it should come up. Has all the details.

  • how much is it to tour i know it is summer time thing how long is it that you are there at that night

  • If I remember right, a one floor tour is 10 dollars. And a 4 floor tour is 40. At night it was higher but I dont know how much, my brother booked us. But we stayed probably around 2 or 3 hours. But I know they also have a tour that is all night. And you are locked in I believe they said until the morning.

But its definitely worth the money. Id recommend checking it out. If you google them their website should come up. All the info is there. =)

  • These pictures are awesome, and Metallica's Sanitarium is perfect background music! I live in Weston and am a volunteer at the Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. This video is such a wonderful tribute to the old hospital and the people who now own it. They are working hard to preserve a piece of history. I will make sure they see your fantastic tribute! Thank you!

  • Thank you so much. =]

  • This place really is the most beautiful places I have EVER seen in my life <3

i cant wait until I go back there =]

  • Agreed. I just went back last night for a four floor tour and a ghost tour. Im making another video very soon with photos from that, maybe some video I took, and definately two EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) we experienced there. They are restoring the clock tower and I can not wait to see how it looks when they are done. I support the staff there 100%.

  • Excellent Job making the Video!!! Your pics came out great!

  • Thanks. :)
