I've been obsessed ever since I heard them at the Montreal Jazz Fest years back. I had no idea who Budos were, but I heard a sound in the distance, followed it and found THIS. Brilliant!
This is some of the best music I've ever heard.. I've always had such a difficult time finding good stuff like this without already having a name for a band.. Thanks for uploading this man.. sheesh
Many, many thanks for such "grandiose" music, guys... Hoping for an even mightier "The Budos Band III" - if that's possible at all. Greets from Germany - gathering new friends of yours, hehe!
Ethiopian Jazz. No pc, no too much effect, clean and in harmony. Just like the old times, perhaps the Ethiopian. Listen to the keyboard, its totally ethiopian harmonic. I love it.
Wow, this song somehow sounds like one of Mulatu Astatke's jazz works. These fine musicians sound so much as the oldtimer Ethiopian Jazz. No pc, no too much effect, clean and in harmony. Just like the old times, perhaps the Ethiopian. Listen to the keyboard, its totally ethiopian harmonic. I love it.

I must say I dig the music from the budos.
But why such a crapy recording promoted by daptone itselfs, and way to much false notes by the brass section. Or is it me?

i have a question: how many individual people make up The Budos Band, Menahan, The Dap-Kings, El Michels Affair, and The Expressions?
