Very underrated game. A game that takes real skill and time master, which may have turned people off who expected an arcade sandbox title. Go in with the expectation of getting your ass kicked until you master the controls, and you will be rewarded with great graphics, music, and a sense of accomplishment when you KNOW you've turned into a badass killing machine.

It looks pretty good to me. And, all the negatives he gave seem more like positives to me. I don't want to be able to breeze through a game in a couple of hours. That's what made platformers so great in the 80's and 90's, they were challenging. They were challenging in a good way: whereas, nowadays games are only challenging because they're cheap. IMO Not be able to move easily like in an old spidey game is a pretty good feature. After all it's an action /platformer game. You must find your way through your environement.
I find it more exciting NEEDing to rappel specific pieces of the geometry. it adds a level of pressure to be good at what you are doing. rather then having the game hold your fucking hand the whole way through. get over it.
I thought the loading screens were short... swinging on specific targets made it harder and therefore more drive to play it. The motions were very fluid if you had the swinging down which did take a bit of practice. This game is easily 7/10 if not 8. I had a lot of fun with the achievements too since I played it on xbox 360

3. Swinging becomes an art and there is PLENTY to swing onto. And when there's not? Oh well, you run for 10 seconds. Darn! Take the time to look at gorgeous scenery! The graphics are incredible!
4. I agree that it sucks at first to not have powers you had in the tutorial. But it feels a lot better to earn them. Plus it gives you time to perfect what little you have at first which makes you a better overall player as the game progresses. In the end, I think it's perfect.

That depends on a couple of things. These types of games? Do you like the genre (sci-fi/action)? That's probably a must. Are you a button masher with no patience? Or do you have the patience to master the timing? - If you do, then this game will be epic and it's an easy buy at $18 at gamestop. But there would be no problem renting it first to make sure if you're tight on funds. For me, this game is priceless. The frustration at first quickly fades quickly into swinging/action bliss.
I agree with all of your arguments to this reveiw, October. Extremly fun game and I actually like the fact you have to cling on to actuall objects, makes the whole swing part of it fun. And unless your xbox has been running for days straight the loadings arn't on their just often, but even then its probably because I've darted through this game and know what I'm doing.

This game is stunning! Just beat it on normal and have restarted it on Commando. I constantly see bad reviews for it though which blows my mind. I have realized that people who hate this game don't have the patience to master a difficult gaming skill. The only real downside to this game is the story. Graphics and gameplay MORE than make up for the story. This game is similar to Ninja Gaiden for xbox. Not easy at all, but incredibly addictive and amazing gameplay that makes you a great gamer.

A lot of the points in this review are kind of daft.
Of course your arm cannot magically grab invisible ledges, they even did away with this in the recent Spiderman games. The game is actually very underrated.
This is a great game, a bit hard by times, but that's the reason why this game is alot of fun. Only replaying levels is a bit stupid, you can't get the unlockables anymore. The soundrack deserves more attention to. Kinda stupid, oh well, i love this game. I would gave it a 8,5/10.

5 out of 10 is a bit low... I actually really enjoyed having to actively swing. The thing that keeps this game from being great is the same thing that keeps prototype from being great: you go along and do some amazing things, but it peaks far too soon and is really left with no where to go, so it sort of fumbles the last quarter of the game trying to come up with new and interesting things to do that don't cut it after the interesting things you already did. 7/10
Weasel makes some good points including the fact that in the beginning you learn all these attacks/abilities in the tutorial but you don't start out with them. He's absolutely right about the roll/evade move. It's useless. But I never played the classic version years ago so I didn't come into this title drawing that comparison. I do know that it's fun once you get used to the swinging and what you can do with your bionic arm. It's an awesome rental but doesn't mean it sucks. It's fun! 7/10

I have realized that people who hate this game don't have the patience to master a difficult gaming skill. The only real downside to this game is the story. Graphics and gameplay MORE than make up for the story. This game is similar to Ninja Gaiden for xbox. Not easy at all, but incredibly addictive and amazing gameplay that makes you a great gamer.

A lot of the points in this review are kind of daft.
Of course your arm cannot magically grab invisible ledges, they even did away with this in the recent Spiderman games. The game is actually very underrated.

This is a great game, a bit hard by times, but that's the reason why this game is alot of fun. Only replaying levels is a bit stupid, you can't get the unlockables anymore. The soundrack deserves more attention to. Kinda stupid, oh well, i love this game. I would gave it a 8,5/10.

This is probably one of the most underated games i have ever played. Fair enough.. the campaign is a little boring, but the multiplayer certainly makes up for it.
If you can pick this up on the cheap i highly recommend it, if just for the multiplayer.
Best multiplayer i have ever played on 360..Beats the shit out of Halo and that is very hard to do.

Once you get the "swing" of things, how long is the game generally? Does being an experienced BC player (from the arcade & the NES) help in any way?..this game is $20 on newegg & am considering it!

5 out of 10 is a bit low... I actually really enjoyed having to actively swing. The thing that keeps this game from being great is the same thing that keeps prototype from being great: you go along and do some amazing things, but it peaks far too soon and is really left with no where to go, so it sort of fumbles the last quarter of the game trying to come up with new and interesting things to do that don't cut it after the interesting things you already did. 7/10

This review is bullshit. You can grab onto anything, and you don't just fall to your doom unless you fuck up.
It does have annoying loadings.
I, personally, like the graphics, but wish there were more weapons, and a better storyline.
All in all, I like it enough to rent just to beat it.

Weasel makes some good points including the fact that in the beginning you learn all these attacks/abilities in the tutorial but you don't start out with them. He's absolutely right about the roll/evade move. It's useless. But I never played the classic version years ago so I didn't come into this title drawing that comparison. I do know that it's fun once you get used to the swinging and what you can do with your bionic arm. It's an awesome rental but doesn't mean it sucks. It's fun! 7/10

first off, bionic commando is for hardcore gamers.. so stop fucking sucking at the game and you will figure out that this is one of the best games of the year.. i loved playing it. id give it a 9/10 easily.. its only flaws were the loading times and it was a bit short.
the rest is epic...

rock the fuck on man. every ones bitching about how this game sucks when they should just realize that THEY suck, in order to play this game right you have to THINK, and i think another reason people don't like it is that the game doesn't take itself to seriously, excellent graphics but when i play i still get that old school game feel from it. 8.5/10 just cause you can't go back to previous levels and do challenges - get collectibles, etc.

i dont think a sequel will happen everyone thinks its a bad game, i think it was really fun i love the multiplayer sadly there is no real community and matches are hard to come by the only complaint i have with the game is why they didnt decide to make it open worlded instead of loads between zones overall it is a enjoyable game but sadly there most likely will be no sequel
