  • online drum lessons are probably the best online instrument lessons u will find, whereas things like guitar lessons online suck

  • Its called scrapes -.-

If you played tenors.... you would know that -_______-

  • Thumb up if you have learned how to do this. I haven't.

  • Can we have some dynamics?!?!

  • bonham did this

  • stupid and pointless

  • Me while the intro was playing, without seeing cobus : WOW! that sounds really hard! when i saw he was doing it with 1 hand: O.O

  • I don't see the point of doing it only with one hand ?

  • @Ryxify Doing it with one hand leaves the other hand free to do other things...

such as playing with your hi hat or stick twirling :)

  • @coppoman1 Yeah, but here Cobus is just showing how the rhythm should be played, and he isn't doing anything else with the other hand, so yeah it's just kind of entertainment. Imo he should have played it with both hands and people would feel free to do whatever they want with it, such as playin it with one hand and doing other rhythms with the second one.

  • OMG! 3:46 just to get to the riff. Geeeze

  • this channel is badass

  • Ill stick with my double pedal hahaha

  • @TheJacoco pshh haha you can't play this?

  • @freedrumlessons what kind of bell is that? baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh...

  • This sweep is something that is done quite often by drummers playing multi-tenors in drum corps and marching bands. I learned this when I was 16 playing sextets (6 tenors [aka toms] of incremental diameter changes on a harness mounted rack). The key is to allow your wrist to achieve the best possible downstroke dynamic to allow your stick to smoothly recover while sweeping to the second drum for the secondary stroke while remembering to emphasize wrist motion on the followup downstroke.

  • Since when does Team Edward play drums?

    FYI, fucking nice.

  • haha! I actually had a bit of drool come out watching it slow.......

  • Uno dei batteristi più sponsorizzati e inutili del pianeta!!! Incredibile!!!

  • how tight should the spring be on the pedal?

  • Ah I've been doing these for years !

  • @SeniorEduado ikr, I thought I was going to learn something!

  • Cool technique. I'm going to try that.

  • Check out tenor sweeps

  • what language do they speak in south africa? like dutch or something?

  • 1:52 : "If you have two hands, you can play them with two hands.". LOL

  • stop saying cool every 3rd word

  • yeah still dont know to do this he didnt really teach

  • @moreisless283 not really much to teach. two hits with the hands followed by two hits on the bass

  • @moreisless283 Yeah he did. He didn't teach you the slide technique, but that's not what this video was about. It was just for the fill pattern, and I think he did that just fine.

  • Heh... As a quad player...

  • Hey did you record the duet? I want to see it.

  • @TheMrD1990 its on cobus channel deedlebag

  • Gosh I've never heard of him, but this guy is amazing!

  • Any bass drum excersises?

  • Uuuuuseeeleeeeeessss

  • @SzpanHipis Idddddiiiiiooooottttt

  • @HarnessDavid Nice to meet you.

  • FUCK...That is a NIIIICE Set!!!

  • Ma com'è possibile che un buffoncello del genere, come tanti, sia riuscito a diventare popolare???!!! E ci racconta con orgoglio le sue ovvietà punk!!!!

  • Cobus is hot :) and a good drummer

  • what would drumming be without spinning the stick lol

  • Comment removed

  • It would definitely sound better with two hands...

  • @stakapoum That doesn't sound bad.

  • me gusta mucho el video

  • wow.,. what a shit move we're learning here! =))

  • rip jerry fuchs

  • i tried to learn this until i took an arr- look at my life and realise cobus is awesome

  • COBUS! i fucking love you and im a straight white guy fiqure it out :)

  • SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET. Now I can apply all that marching tenor drumming to drum set.

  • showman...

  • he is not amazing

  • "I'm just going to nod like I know what that means." LOL

  • NOT what i thought his voice would sound like

  • FOUR SHOOR

  • cobus = legend

  • @leedrummer100 amen

  • @leedrummer100 nooooooo

  • he PROBABLY shoulda did this with a click... he drags EVERY time with that fill..... just sayin

  • @PLBIV you're not even 1/15 as good as him... just sayin

  • @iJakeRoper hahaha oh OOOK..... at least i can keep time

  • now let's see it with the left hahaha

  • oh i was about to mention cobus on ur videos sweet

  • That is a sweet kit! dw!

  • swivel technique is better

  • @luisluvsblastbeats54 kinda depends on what you want to do with it...

  • I think the actual name is The Baltimore Sweep.

  • whats the actual sticking to this? RKK RKK RKK?

  • @DrumDougDrum Its RRKK RRKK or LLKK LLKK. He said two strokes on your hand plenty of times.

  • 18 people dont like dis vid

  • you can tell that jared totally wants cobus...lol

  • well explained, very informative.... awesome!

  • 17 people dont play the drums

  • I like Cobus the man has got skill but he just covers too many gay songs for my liking. Alot of stuff he plays is mainstream pop and fruitcake music.

  • @vgamedude12 youre a fruitcake for mentioning that...thats the point..he ironically makes that shitty music good

  • @climz1989

Wow, if you're seriously that arrogant I almost pity you. It's obvious he plays the music either because he likes it, or he conformed to what the children want to buff his fanbase, either way it makes me lose respect.

  • @vgamedude12 You are so ignorant. How is mainstream pop "gay"? Are you like 12 or something? A good drummer is someone who can play all different styles. So, please, STFU.

  • @TheDrummerMB

Did you seriously use an age argument against mainstream pop? You're fucking retarded the people that listen to mainstream pop are 12 not the other way around dumb shit. Also a good drummer would be fucking Blake Richardson motherfucker not fairies that play pop.

  • @vgamedude12 Haha You're pretty angry. I'm in no way arguing for or against mainstream pop. I simply asked how a style of music is "gay". Do you even know what gay means? And of course, you're the typical drummer that thinks metal is the only good style of music. A good drummer can play all different styles...not just blast beats. Learn some jazz, then maybe ill respect you.

  • @TheDrummerMB

No I don't only like metal, I don't have a personal taste for jazz but I do respect jazz musicians and the skill they possess. Gay is simply a word that expresses dislike towards something it has become that, whether you like it or not is irrelevant everyone uses it. I hate mainstream pop, and mainstream hip hop and rap. My opinion.

  • @vgamedude12 Jazz takes a hell of a lot more talent then metal, so don't give me some shitty metal drummer and tell me he has "real talent". And when the helllll did gay become a word that expresses dislike? If I have a friend that is gay, does that mean I dislike him? Wtffff? You're so ignorant and stupid.

  • @TheDrummerMB

Wow that is the single most ignorant retarded comment I have ever read. If you knew anything about drumming you would know that Blake incorporates so many different styles, including Jazz into his playing! And where the fuck have you been!? Everyone uses the word gay now do you live under a fucking rock? Blake is not a "shitty metal drummer" you're a fucking idiot if you think he doesn't have skill. Go watch some of his drumming and tell me that you can do that.

  • @vgamedude12 Trying to use a big word like me, huh? Thats pretty funny. You've obviously a metal drummer who thinks he knows everything about drumming. How the hell do you play jazz in metal? o.O and I remember using "gay" as an insult in 4th grade. Do you seriously think EVERYONE uses gay as an insult? You obviously hang around some dumb people.

  • @TheDrummerMB YOU'RE A LOSER

  • @TheDrummerMB

Its easy to use Jazz influences in different genres of play, if you were a decent drummer you would know that. You can incorporate different techniques, tricks fills, beats, and mix them around and turn them into metal songs, it's not a new concept, you sound like you know nothing about drumming, you fucking idiot.

  • @TheDrummerMB Whatever you say music snob. They're both different styles and there are examples of amazing drummers in each style. If you took the best jazz drummer out there he wouldn't be able to play like Chris Alder and vice versa.

  • @JBic420 Music snob? Haha dude, I used to be just like you and him. Thinking metal was the shit and everything else sucked. I respect both styles of playing, but jazz is definitely harder than metal.

  • @TheDrummerMB I'm the same.. grew up on metal and branched off into other styles. I just think it's hard to quantify difficulty but is it not safe to assume there are drummers in both genres that work their asses off to be as good as they can? Why would you think that people that choose jazz are somehow inherently more talented than the ones that choose metal? Maybe jazz seems harder because it's not as familiar to you?

  • @JBic420 Im not saying either style is easy...all Im saying is most people that only play metal think its the hardest genre to play. I play pretty much only jazz now. I'm in a big band and a small combo playing gigs. So...they're both familiar to me, dude.

  • @JBic420 Vinnie Colaiuta: Plays with Herbie Hancock, Sting and Megadeth. It's not about STYLES or who is better than who or what style is hardest, it's about being excellent. This is what I hate about musicians....no concept of "sportsmanship" but somehow everything has to be a competition. I wish everyone would just shut the fuck up and play their instrument.

  • Those symbols shiny enough for ya :)

  • can someone tell me... Why do some drummers use the pedal with the head pointing to the back instead of pointong to the bass?? please anyone that know why answer

  • @GhassanElachkar valid question. some (not all) beaters have multiple surfaces, usually a felt on one side and then hard plastic on the other. some drummers prefer the hard plastic side for certain styles or sounds. when recording, the hard plastic side may be selected to enhance the "punch" of the bass. other reasons might be to match the feeling of playing with stick, as a maple wood stick is probably more akin to the plastic as far as timbre and feeling of response. hope this helps

  • @millmaxy thanks men, now i understand :P

  • @GhassanElachkar It's a matter of taste. Some like felt against the head, some like hard plastic, some like wood, some like thick felt, some like thin felt, some like fluffy cotton.....

  • cobus seems to be in different light... it's the light of EPICNESS

  • lol ding at 0:20

  • Comment removed

  • I dont Use The Drum Set :(

  • Hahahahaha... We NEED to spin the stick! :P

  • I've been trying to apply the way you do it for months Cobus, now I know haha :D

  • Crazy TOoL

  • i'll play as slow as i can !!! lol

  • 1080p nd still crappy Q, well done

  • hahah I've been doing something extremely similar to this for awhile. It's awesome :D I got the idea from playing tenors [I've got a marching percussion background :P] so it's the same sweeps/scrapes you'd do on those, just applied to a kit. The double stroke with his foot is so clean though!

  • DO IT WITH YOU'RE LEFT HAND.....CAN YOU?

  • @ilovemetaalll i'm sure he can the only reason he doesn't is most of the drums and cymbals are on the right so why use your left hand if its uncomfortable to? you would have to reach over your body and other hand

  • @SkinnyKewlJamz it was hironic sorry for my spelling

  • 1:18 He admits, that he's no good drummer at all...

Playing something fast an loud is ALLWAYS easy.

If you can't play ANY rythme FAST, too, something went wrong during practise...

  • @XtremeLEGOgaming *lol* ment SLOW. If you can't play ANY rythm SLOW, too... xD

  • when he did it at the slowest point... i see it in god speed mode.. =.=

  • COBUS HAS AN ACCENT?

  • @waybetterthanu2 Most people here have accents :)

  • @XxsiPpi3xX I didn't even know where he was from!

  • fuck you,the video it´s great :)

    .i.

  • Jared, I haven't seen you wearing a single shirt I didn't like.

  • The guy on the right looks like a noob

  • @drummingking92 noob? try watching other vids ... his name is Jarred Falk

  • @drummingking92 the guy on the right is the maker of online drumlessons wtf!

  • I know this video has nothing to do with the rev but fuck I miss him!!

  • @LukesDrumsOnline Man i miss him tooooooooooooooo <3 :(

  • @LukesDrumsOnline True Dat. I still get goosebumps every time I hear him play. Many came after him with a broader canvas to paint on, Mitch, John B etc. but none had the ability to create the sheer excitement he generated everytime he sat at the kit.

  • @blohmymind Youre response is the first Ive got that makes sense!

  • @LukesDrumsOnline Although a lot of people can relate to what u said. Death sucks, I think they should undo it and bring back all those great people we miss so dearly. U know Jimi Hendrix was only famous for 4 years before he died. All that great work in such a short time. Morrison was only here for six years of his 46 years of fame and influence. Young people still discover and fall in love with their timeless music.

  • "and we need to spin the sticks, let's be honest."

  • The blonde guy looks like Pierre Bouvier...:))

  • I like it when he say "ta-ta...ta-ta...ta-ta" (no homo)

  • @theBOSS3105 (no homo too) cute -

  • @NickTheBoss44 And now you're in hospital, getting a humor transplant. -_-

  • Jared, are those drums part of your big DW set?

What are the sizes in this vid?

  • ta bien

  • @mutantthrash we don't wanna know about your bid

  • 6:21 "the Rectum" haha.. dirty Cobus.. xD

  • oh thats so simple when he slows it down lol

  • 1:30 LOL !!!

  • do you double stroke the toms as well? or just the snare?

  • @viennabroncos You can play it either way! sometimes he was doing a single on the tom to a single on the snare which equals a double!

  • the bogus method.

  • @mutantthrash Even though that joke was well thought of and somewhat funny. You're wrong.

  • @slowkidatpay42 Sure, you can tell yourself that . . .

  • cobus is from africa ??

  • @lps2cl south africa

  • 1080p ... not really.

  • this is great, there was at least three times he shows us how big his ego is. I can do the double stroke pretty easy, came here to see if i could master it. All i have seen here is two people talking for 8 minutes with the shittest examples of how to play it.

  • @iplaydrumsye Cobus is actually really humble so you're wrong. You need to keep in mind that this is meant for beginners.

  • @iplaydrumsye What pat of beginners don't you understand. I know for sure, that when I was starting off, I thought that rudiments didn't apply to the feet, I thought doubles were pretty much strictly snare drum. Over time I realized I could play paraddidles, flams and even drags around the kit. Then it hit me: Doing rudiments with my feet. This video and others like it would fast forward beginners to where I was when I started off, to where I am now, creatively.

  • cobus the gay showed us ,how not musical he is,once again

  • @Axxisization You're a fucking idiot. Jealous bro?

  • @NickTheBoss44 not funny -.-

  • @drummaster157 It's funny cos you can't drum after you get an arrow to the knee -.-

  • @7Anonymou The fact that it is from a stupid video game and has been said a billion times makes it not funny.

  • @drummaster157 i'll put a drum stick to his knee. see if he'll shut up about that.

  • @NickTheBoss44 Too much of Skyrim is bad for you.

  • @NickTheBoss44 fuck off with that joke.. getting older than ur mom

  • @NickTheBoss44 You used to be gay, you still are gay.

  • @NickTheBoss44 lol.. skyrim.. i just played it a while ago

  • lol "what the fluff"

  • Drum set plays are finally catching up with the rest of the class. This move has been done by DCI drummers for decades.

  • slide technique sucks.... can't get ot to work for me haha :P Question... shood it be easier, harde or just the same on a electronic drumkit? Unexperienced drummer here :P Thanks

  • Love how Cobus use's the words "For Sure"

  • It was kinda weird how Jared's mic was a little too close to him so his voice was uncomfortably moist in my headphones, but I'm gonna learn this and show this off to my band for sure.

  • could you guys just next leave out the snare/tom thing and focus more on the tecnique for the bass drum?

  • its funny when he says "I DO" in 0:27

  • The technique he uses for sweeping is really just the same as what you learn for tenors in high school. If this helps band ppl...

  • in the thumbail i honestly thought it was edward cullen playing the drums

  • wow I thought he was doing it with two hands before he mentioned that he was only using one.... wow

  • The most AMAZING thing is coming up with money to buy all the cymbals! You can count on $2000+ for a complete, quality set, but decent drums can be bought for less than $1000. Total cost is around $3000 and even more. And don't forget that most important piece of equipment: A mule to pack it around with! There's a lot to carry. A good mule is hard to find these days! They're ornery and stubborn too, just like my wallet! 8-)

  • @Lengo67 Unless you get endorsed like Cobus(;

  • oooohhhh.... wow.. i think i cant!!..

  • @marielle042892

    haha.. ='D
