are you able to play any old school games at all on this thing? like say Diablo 2 lod, or command and conquer, or starcraft? can you watch netflix and stuff? thanks for your time!
@BaBaBaBlazin i would think yes but not high setting becouse of the it is only running on inagrated graphics (that is from the CPU) if you reallly wanted to have a gaming nettbook go with a alienware you if you are like mee just builf you computer and save money by scraping a old desktop
I wouldn't as Vista is very unnecessarily power/processor/memory hungry, Vista may work but is a horrible OS..... Windows 7 is your safest bet, but hey, its up to you.... service packs have lowered the blow of using vista....
What are you planning to use the Acer Aspire One for? i know a relative with it...and i've personally used it alot.I can give you some advice if still needed..
first off widgets and docks were a mac idea. but anyways which computer would u suggest to buy, like which one is better? the only major differences i found between those two is that the samsung has bluetooth and a better webcam but their is a big difference in the price, with the samsung being more money, is it worth it?oh and does the samsung come in any other colors?
I just bought this a few days ago: acer 10.1..It works great..like you said the heat vent does get a wee hot..but I haven't had any-problems with it. I took it outside but It was hard to see the applications on my screen..how do I fix it?? I hope this isn't a duh question...I don't want to mess up my computer and also, why isn't XP efficent enough, with Linux? How do I go abut installing linux with XP?
i have used linux ubuntu for about 6 months and i hate it, it makes u think ur smarters than everybody just cause doing something stupid like installing drivers takes u ages =/
well maybe u were just lucky, i installed ubuntu and never got my wireless to work, dont tell me that i didnt searched cause i did and realized i was just wasting my time, thats why i got windows 7 and it is by far the best OS ive ever used
I don't know how many PCs you tried Linux on (I am going to imagine it is ONE), you cannot make a blanket statement that Linux sucks as it did not work with your machine.
look kid, i tried ubuntu on MY laptop and it didnt worked, SO i began used windows 7 and works as a charm, i dont GIVE A FUCK if the entire world loves linux, i tried and my opinion on it is that is SHIT, wast going to buy another laptop to try it on it... would you do it? i guess not. So the point is that i DO think that Linux Sucks and yes, ive have tried it on just one pc, my pc =)
Tu eres un pendejo. if u dont know spanish dont use it. ok?
as i said before, i dont give a fuck about how many pcs u use and what os u use, its ur fucking life and keep ur fucking religion to yourself okay? no, my windows7 is not slow even with my casino shit which at least is giving me money and no, it wouldnt work with your stupid pcs with that stupid shit which has to "emulate" windows to run any regular shitty software. No, i dont use antivirus, virus are for assholes like u.
and you can not make a blanket statement that windows 7 isn't good because it is, and relax, i use both linux and windows, both running perfect and no drivers needed on any of them after the OS installation.
After a clean installation of WinXP SP3 i had to install:
1) Nvidia video card drivers
2) Sound card, ethernet, usb drivers of the motherboard
3) Wireless card drivers
4) Webcam drivers
5) Printer drivers
6) Sony Ericsson drivers
7) Lot of up updates, security fixes
Most of them required me to reboot. A "WinXP Internet Ready" PC needs a decent AV up to date, antispyware software. Lastly, you need to clean the registry of the mess so you have to run something like CCleaner. Busy afternoon uh?!
Good to read Win 7 "Release Candidate" does as well as "Linux Ubuntu Stable". Although my experience with WinXP has little to do with luck (I used to be MCSE and there are more facts than luck in my words) but with an old OS like WinXP (to be fair). I'm looking forward to Win 7 to see how it does when it comes to production since I'm not interested in an OS flame war but to find the one that best fits my needs (so far AutoCAD is keeping me from switching to Linux)
As stchman did, I installed Jaunty 9.04 and got it running without inserting a single driver CD on my PC. True, I had to install Nvidia drivers to activate compiz and some non free codecs to listen mp3. All of them downloaded from Internet and needed to reboot just one time. Don't missundertand me, I don't love / hate any OS in particular, neither I want to convince you to switch to Linux, but my experience with Ubuntu was far more pleasant than yours. And better than with WinXP.
When you're stating that the Acer heats up more, and that its battery lasts longer it would be nice to actually see some numbers... Like tell us what is the difference in temperatures between the two in IDLE and LOAD regimes, and how long the battery lasts under the same conditions (what ever they are at the moment of the review)...
Also the keyboard funcionality is much more important than the crappy left mouse click button, cuz probably every normal person will buy a mini wireless mouse too
can u play online games on this like.A.v.A,crossfire,operation7,or warrock.oh and how are the graphics on games like call of duty.

You got an older Acer aspire one. I have one that has several SD card slots, different build, and more features.

the only one with 2 sd slots is the 8.9inch one... AKA the oldest model with the least features.

Could not disagree more. I am running Jaunty 9.04 on my Aspire One. Guess how many drivers I had to install? ZERO.
Everything worked OOB. Webcam, wireless, ethernet, video, etc. XP is far more of a PITA to get working than Ubuntu.

Whatever, I have FIVE different PCs running Ubuntu and everything works very well.
I must be the luckiest person in the world. Should start buying lottery tickets?

Kid??!!! Since I am older than you.
I guess your POS laptop is the golden standard by which all other laptops are measured? You are a pendejo.
I know I could have gotten your laptop running Linux faster that you got it running Windows 7.
Yes, I bought (2) laptops for running Linux.
With all your gambling winnings a new laptop should be chump change.
Make sure to keep your anti virus updated.
Not everybody is smart enough to run Linux, I understand you pendejo.

Unless you have some drop dead Windows app that you just have to have, don't use it. Linux is the way to go.
