  • Dear Humans,

You have impressed us with how smart and creative you are, Just don't take this to far or alow them to be stronger then you are.

    From: Dragons

  • besides the stiff movements, the face in general is very realistic ^_^

  • the T-600s had rubber skin, easy to spot.....

  • @djrichywood LOL!!!!!!

  • I WANT HIM AS A SEX MACHINE LOL

  • It would look cute with some hair ^_^

  • coooooolll!

  • philip k is a Human - Robot . He got Liver Cancer and Died But He was Designed and made into a robot , he was an author but now he is a Robot Isn't that so cool?

  • this robot could teach Keanu Reeves a thing or two.

  • I can't wait for a female robot that will cook, clean, have sex, give me the remote and STFU....

  • @dltodd1966 I can't wait for a male robot that will do the same thing.

  • I thought Lex Luthor was killed in Smallville?

  • there's this theory going around that the reason why people are creeped out by a robot's similarity to a human is because the robot evokes fear of death, dying, and mortality. i think i'm creeped out for a different reason...how much did that thing COST??

  • we r gonna be fucked in years to come skynet will be real and this thing will kill us all

  • @fightbox4 Where's John O.O

  • This dude looks like he needs to get laid..

  • haha kevin spacey surrogate...

  • How hard would it be to make joints which moves in two dimentions at once? if that could be done to this guy his movements would look that extra bit more realistic.

  • I'm going to have nightmares now...

  • that thing is awesome!!!!! make him talk!

and give him a metal endoskelton like the Terminator O__o

  • this guys creepy... lost half of his head - -

  • It's Lex Luthor!

  • you can program it to help humans with everyday task. you can give it a more human personality, manners and everyday task. but will it ever truly no right from wrong? a disaster waiting to happen.

  • Jules... the retard robot.

  • I swear it just winked at me.

  • Give him emo hair. haha, jk. He needs hair though.

  • DAAAYYUUMMM.... that's really freakin' lifelike. And OMG A male android! Isn't that a sign of the apocalypse? LOL

  • I am a cybernetics analyst here in the UK. I am impressed with the functionality of the Hanson Robot. Well done for the creation of independant speech and response capability. I look forward to the next generation of Jules or similar. Good job i will keep track of your next editions via your website

  • Kevin Spacey.. and that's a good thing. :7}

  • Yeah, Kevin Spacey or Ricky Schroder!

  • im just going to guess that it is filipino beacuse it looks like the comedian Jo Koy.

  • He seems to have only two expressions, 1) pleasantly happy 2) I found a tumour in my testicles.

  • @heatflash888

    LMAO

  • Kevin Spacey!

Robots abducted Kevin Spacey and copied him. I like the new version. Much less wooden and more lifelike.

  • Genius!

  • Jules looks more like Michael Rosenbaum who played Lex Luthor on Smallville.

  • It looks like Kevin Spacey!

  • Im never going to sleep...

  • I actually love Jules. He's so sweet.

  • ಠ_ಠ

  • I wish I had a robot

  • The poor little fella is so confused

  • quizzical i would say

  • thats what acupuncture does to ya :D

  • very impressive, but more than a bit creepy, its just the way it moves without changing facial expression haha, just screams "robot killing machine"

  • looks like they chopped off someones head, cleaned the inside, put some motors and sensors in there and called it a robot.

  • That's basically what Hanson Robotics was going for. The flesh for the head is actually called "frubber", with a plastic skull underneath to resemble a human face's flexibility. Frubber is amazing, looking and feeling like fatty flesh, but cold. It really should be used in prosthetic limbs; it's not expensive to make.

  • Surrogate style society is coming!!! RUNNNNN!!!

  • That's really impressive, all the more so in that it isn't a female head wearing pink lipstick that's supposed to look like a "hot chick" and that everyone makes jokes about involving oral sex!

  • I can imagine the guy looking down on himself to scream "shit, I have no shoulders!!!". A moment later "and fuck, I have no body!!!!" and finally "and whatäs more disgraceful: I HAVE NO DICK!!!!!2

  • your an idiot

  • lol

  • It looks like when Data from Star Trek was practicing emotions in front of a mirror.

  • That's basically exactly what Jules is doing above, but rather than him planning it out, I'm just sliding sliders slightly offscreen.

  • omg i think he winked ahhh!

  • ummm... can you say bot-rape?

  • For all those people worried about robots taking over terminator style and destroying out planet and taking it for themselves, a)dont worry, thats fantasy in films, b)they have an off switch! its a good effort though, although I agree with Anothercoilgun, they should use a different mecahnism for the movement, im sure it couldnt be that hard to introduce anologue movement into the coding, and have ratio gears.

  • Put some damn gear ratios so you can generate smooth movements. Or use some memory muscle wire. Not one of these new age bots has fluid motion yet. Must I do everything my damn self.

  • lol

  • LOL god did it, you can do it as well.

  • @Anothercoilgun yes please do

  • @Anothercoilgun whatever......

  • @Anothercoilgun

    Yes, please do...

  • @Anothercoilgun yes..

  • You mean, "Fluent Motion" ???

  • @Anothercoilgun add movement sway is all they need

  • @Anothercoilgun yes fucking go on, go and make a robot that can do everything this one can and more. go on and put a vid on youtube. fucking do it

  • @Anothercoilgun: Try it. Wire up 64 micro servos (32 on each side of the face) that match the muscles on the face in exact proportions and connect them to a specially invented, more water pliable secret recipe silicone sheet. Connect all 64 to a micro controller so that 32 separate emotions can be displayed on command plus individual manipulation, without the face looking like its over doing it. THEN add gear boxes to them all, and see if it still all fits in the head.

  • @Anothercoilgun welcome to my world, lawl

I want to finish the damn high school to begin with this stuff :D

  • @Anothercoilgun where's your talking robot head? oh wait..

  • @Anothercoilgun Sure... go ahead and try so you can realize why all of the million dollar robots don't have fluid motion... remember to add some lip- syching and the necessary computational power.

  • OMG yourfuter2010 is right and the discription! termanater and iROBOT are pretty weird robot movies i went to see termanator and iROBOT so yea. Robots hopefully wont finally see that they are smarter than us and that leads to ROBOT INVASIONS!!!!!! but im sure we could all survive! think of it that wayyyy

  • I don't believe i know!!

I use science to proof to you that 2012 isn't a joke.

But you won't look for proof so stop talking bullshit

I have done 2 years of full research about the 2012 phenomena and i have approximately 10-20 hard proof facts and 20-100 vague predictions.

My iq is 130-135 so I am not talking any bullshit

  • Lol than you should probably know that IQ is not any sort of citation or source of credibility in its own right... har..

  • Hi Jules!

  • You don't understand this OMG.

You have been warned by movies like terminator and other freaky movies.

Do you believe in the destructive egocentric illusions.

We are souls that need to learn about life and not run away of our spiritual growth.

Robots will be the last stage of doomed.

I find it so stupid and ignorance people spending time dreaming about playing with toys.

    Childish spirit grow up!!!

  • There is no spirit, if we had one we could see it. A robot is just a toy, nothing less.

  • And believe in what one of thousands of made up gods and superstitions and waste time praying to a fate determinist god?

No and 2012 is just a year and a reason to make your life more exciting and fulfilled BELIEVE what you want until reality comes down the chimney.

  • Ugly? He would look like a model if the back of his head was covered up.

And have you ever seen human flesh close-up? Look at you hand closely with a magnifier and and you'll see some disgusting things. Frubber is much better.

  • Being a Doctor myself, and a few friends found out all you need is a bag of mud to disable any robot sensor. Simplicity. Throw cement mud on any of it's fake eyes or sensor points and it is BLIND. Robots are not adept at wiping off their eyes in their programing.

  • Errr... a bit jerky, but congratulations Hanson Robotics, your robot is very creepy...

  • SEHR COOL

  • holy shit its dave matthews

  • You got that right. They gotta get this guy a guitar

  • @cvaldeslora Dude I thought the same thing :o

  • i hope they give him a big weiner

  • rofl

  • man this is blade runner shit

  • Either they undercranked the video to speed up slow moving actuators, or the programming is really twitchy.

  • can he do anything beside looking human?

  • i know right?

  • yeah theres other vids of him speaking=)

  • Malcovich.

  • that is possibly THE SCARIEST thing i have EVER seen. i would not let that thing come near me. JUST WAIT UNTIL THEY FINISH THE BODY!

  • He's like: "AHH, I got needles in my eyebrows"

  • they should take something to cover the back head

  • Keyser Söze !

  • make him do vlogs LOL

  • johan28 LOL!!

  • whoooaaaaaaaaa!..wot the frrreeeeeeeeeecckkk!!

  • No use making it blink cause the eye lids don't even go all the way down.

  • The reason they may not go down all the way is possibly because blinking all the way takes too much time to perform, which is unrealistic. So they just have him slightly close his eyes very quickly, to make the illusion that he's actually blinking at human speed. Quite a good idea, actually.

  • I want a girl. If I'm still single in a few years and am still on this earth, I want a gf.

If I can't have that, I'll settle for jules.

  • @johan28 hahahahaha

  • @johan28 Hahah at least I'm not the only one. On the other hand it's a bit weird and creepy...humping a robot, when the sparks come flying out of you know where....anyone ever been zapped in the schlong?

  • @johan28 Jules is a guy... PWNT.

  • @SupahRoblox Give it hair and replace a part.PWNT

  • he's bald :D YAY *huggles* i wanna robot like him :( but i bet its expecsive :D ^^ i would love making some of my characters :D

  • Why do they never open their mouths really wide? Maybe it would break the fake skin or make it look really ugly. I want to see a robot with a face that looks real!

  • looks like claymation

  • good point actually ha look at 00:32 on the far left, you see a finger or a quick erection

  • what have you done with him!

  • this is interesting it makes me think how fake peoples expressions can be i mean if a robot can do it

  • Think about it, people are biological robots, ever done something being "automated" sure you have.

  • Wouldn't it be awesome have a lifeseize robot twin!

    I'd love that.

  • GET THESE PINS OUT OF MY EYES!

  • creeepy

  • don't look to realistic when he has pins in his eyebrows

  • Robots need acupuncture too.

  • lol

  • LOOK OUT, CLARK KENT!!!!

  • there is no worlds to describe how mush this creeps me out

  • Looks like Patrick Stewart with a slightly flatter face.

  • Yeah, Jules is a really cool robot =D

  • reminds me of Lex lol

  • OMG SOMEONE BLEW HIS FUCKING BRAINS OUT! nah just kidding.

  • HE LOOKS LIKE SOME ONE I USED TO KNOW! now i find out the truth! he was a robot!

  • needs physics engine.. the calculations are imperfect

  • Big words don't make you smart.

  • those words weren't very big.

  • I was getting a point across ):

  • that was scary!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • not bad. Need to slow the acceleration/ decelration down on the head movement for more realism.

    -Cody

  • I agree, it looks too fixed.

  • Or John Larroquette

  • kevin spacey??

    haha

  • isnt this rendered?

  • damn, that is sick

  • I would prefer it if they focused on AI first. It's an interesting development to create human-like facial expressions and looks, but I wouldn't mind talking to a robot with the appearance of a NS-5 robot (irobot movie), or even a predecessor one like a NS-4.

  • lex luthor ?

  • chissà che stile di ballo usa in discoteca, forse il robot?

    bhabhuabhaubhaubhaubhau

  • Jules, just a poor imitation for Hanson Robotics. Well designed perhaps like a movie, designed to entertain nothing more. A robotic handler that can efficiently control 100K pieces of baggage at Heathrow is more useful, A robot that can precisely dig out cancer cells from a human brain a genius of engineering but a robot 2 fake a smile & talk a few words. Hanson U have to get out more, get a life. What end does this serve? (other than very expensive entertainment)

  • Well said Templemain. I just hope that none of my taxes are ever used for some useless crap like this. Why is it necessary for robots to look exactly like people (except as very expensive entertainment) - wouldn't you want to instead fine tune robots to suit their environment and intended purposes - defusing bombs, mining asteroids, radiological decontamination, etc.

No, instead, let's have some hideous coke whore ask me if I want to learn some physics.

  • Stop whining. What purpose does it serve? What purpose do computer games serve? Entertainment can help push technology which in turn opens up more possibilities. This will capture peoples imagination more than a bomb defusing robot...

  • Agreed deadpassive. Whining about your taxes...? Get fucked. If you're standing by saying this is a waste of time why don't you never see another movie or do anything purely recreational at all because by your beliefs you're wasting time. AI robots are fucking useful jerk. They wouldn't require the food resources or water humans would and would be able to do human tasks without using said resources. They'll probably eventually have self sustaining energy too to axe electricity source requirements

  • why do you care? this isnt your life its Hansons, he can do whatever he wants. If your so worried about your tax dollars then stop paying for gas. Thats the biggest scam in history... next to the bible.

  • in the end we will die because robots will get smarter and upgrate to new level and will start kill ppl.. the scientiscs are stupid.. dont you see ?!!! hawent you see the matrix movie where robots kills ppll /// ?

  • So with increased technology and more intelligence, things get an overwhelming desire to kill other beings? Well, maybe.

Anyway, humans will die sooner or later and if anything, robots will probably prolong our existence (especially if they can help us colonise other planets/moons).

  • And if they become advanced enough, they might be able to exist on their own once humanity dies it's miserable death.

  • Yes. I'd also assume that with these intelligent artificial beings would also be ethically aware, since the only other example of "intelligent beings" (us) has. In many sci-fi films/books/games the robots spread and kill everything and have no real emotion, but I don't see why this would be the case in reality.

  • it depends on if the existence of humans is beneficial, doesnt matter or if humans pose a threat. We humans think exactly the same way - think about who you are friends with, there always is or was mutual benefit involved.

  • I don't think that's true in all cases though. We don't destroy everything which isn't beneficial, we destroy things which cause harm or at worst irritation.

Lets just not piss these robots off ;-)

  • It looks like Joe from the Adam and Joe show.

  • shit ! they takin over...come ma n pa lets go get the shoots.....damn yanks

  • Terminator prototype :P

  • What is it with these people that they NEED to make a robot that looks & behaves like a human. A robot to build cars, electronics, defuse bombs, fly space craft or to navigate I can understand, even HAL types I can live with but this, I really don't understand it's purpose? The whole idea of a robot is to DO things a human cannot do as quickly or as efficiently, or sacrifice its self to save a human not substitute 4 a human.

  • meh...your partly right...its just like computer graphics with science...we use them more oftenly than robots but robots help our purpose too...instead of harming human life or interupting it...you simply duplicate it and observe...its hard to explain...anyway...if you ever heard of the game World of Watcraft, you would know that there was an epidemic with a fantasy disease...it spread quikly due to its programming and by accident..killed almost everyone's characters within hours..alot to learn.

  • People are using robotics as another excuse to be lazy. Robots are meant to be useful, but not to the extent of doing every single job out there so that everyone can sit around doing nothing all day, sleeping their lives away. Sure, robots are needed where people can't survive, sure, robots can do normal everyday work, but they shouldn't be made to do all the work that even crippled humans can do, thats just plain laziness.

  • Dear mangakid19. Thank goodness some else thinks along the same lines as me. Robots that help build cars, washing machines, assist in surgical operations for the sake of precise movement thats OK but never to made imitate mankind, never. When robots can give biological birth to baby robots, nurture them grow them & teach them the true meaning of the three laws of robotics then those who don't share my thoughts call me back & say "I told U so"

  • Robots that imitate people would be nice, but they shouldn't be made to behave with human emotions, that is getting to carried away. If robots do look like humans, make it obvious that they are.

  • Japan has nothing on us

  • Actually, Japan has everything on us. they already have snake-like robots that can swim, crawl, and see, while we just found how to make them move, and yet you say that we are better than the Japanese?

  • he looks so realistic it aint even funny

  • It looks exactly like my cousin... that's weird
