Some of his ancestors were taken from West Africa and taken to the Caribbean of Puerto Rico just like yours came to the US. And Puerto Ricans who emigrated to the mainland probably were called a "nigger" at some point, and they grew up in the same communities and were subject to the same oppression and conditions.

Everyone who is mad that Fat Joe is saying the word nigga is obviously not hood. Any hood u go to where blacks and Latino are the majority, no one has a problem with hispanics using that word. His ancestors may not have been called "niggers" per se, but they certainly were considered such. Some of his ancestors were taken from West Africa and taken to the Caribbean of Puerto Rico just like yours came to the US. And Puerto Ricans who emigrated to the mainland probably were called a "nigger" at some point, and they grew up in the same communities and were subject to the same oppression and conditions.

I respect your point. But there are "white" Puerto Ricans as well as "darker" Puerto Ricans with obvious African blood in the genetic make-up. But the question is, (or was cause I posted the comment so far back), do Fat Joe consider himself black/African American and one of who the term is used to describe? Or do he consider himself to be more European Spanish descent?

Dark Puerto Ricans experienced this treatment. But there are many with "white" skin that have assimilated into main stream society that you would never know they were from Puerto Rico, and would never be considered by themselves or others to be a "nigger". I agree. This Fat Joe speaks about Obama's campaign when more Latinos voted for Hillary Clinton than the black candidate. This guy uses the word "nigga" but do not consider himself as black. He will say anything to sell a record to blacks.
