@madbobmagee according to Wikipedia, the term "emo" was coined in the mid-80's. as far as being considered a genre, that actually started around 1989 or so with Jawbreaker and Sunny Day Real Estate (both awesome bands in their own right). Now, with this band...i would consider them anything but Emo. People who consider bands like Placebo and (dare i say...) Suede to be Emo have no clue about bands like Roxy Music & Queen or artists like David Bowie whom influenced most bands like placebo.
