@camike1231 It isn't in brawl at all(it must be heavily hacked in), and for the record, it is needed in a melee tourney, if you ever play in one, tell me how bad you lose. It was removed to try to help close the skill gap, they also added random tripping to help(which make people win entirely by luck, it made it worse). I stick to the gamecube controller for Brawl I like brawl because it brings diversity between the characters. I mean when you find someone who can be godly with the so called bottom tier characters it brings that much more enjoyment to the game. This isn't really like wavedashing. Wave dashing doesn't make you dodge on the ground, it just gives you a sliding momentum from where you can start any move. It's for positioning not dodgin. This hack is kinda missing what wavedashing is.

Heh, when you play against the types who actually play about 8 hours a day, you realize that they don't even need wavedashing or the likes to ruin the fun for those that just want to enjoy it. Seriously, I consider myself pretty good at the game, but when I go to conventions and play against these guys, I just have no chance when they play as cheaply as they do.

Nothing is wrong with either type. Tiers are for competitive play (which casual players don't understand) and items are for casual play (which competitive players don't understand). It all depends on one's own opinion of what is fun. Some prefer the former and reject the latter, and vice-versa. But neither is really better than the other. Opinions are not facts, only perspectives.

perhaps noob friendly in some areas but it can be a bitch sometimes if you dont know what your doing.
oh, and typically any texture hack works online but only the hacker can see it. an item swap MIGHT work but I have not tested this. also you can typically send hacked stages (as long as its not just completely insane, like putting in parts from battlefield or something). move altering tends to cause problems online though.

well the reason for that would be that the colors stored on YOUR console are those that you see online... that friend probably cant see the hack to be honest.
How does that work? It seems like the version you're using is much better, since you can dodge to a further distance, and there's more of a pause at the end.

Combos still exist in Brawl.
The mechanics merely force them to be performed with more emphasis on actions between hits to make them land.
Even in Melee, this was still a factor in some combos, despite hit-stun.
Traditionalist ideals of what is and isn't a combo need to be discarded before the combos in this series can be recognized.
As for it being impossible, check out the combo vid "Believe the Legend".

@MisterN617 You're trying to apply traditional fighting game combo conditions to a game that isn't a traditional fighter. It doesn't mesh that way.
Even in Melee, combos are escapable through DI. Normal fighters don't do that.
In Brawl, you pretty much HAVE to anticipate and hit around dodges without being counter-attacked in order to perform combos.
Brawl's mechanics just force them to work differently than normal fighting games make them work.
It's just nontraditional, not negligible.

Try doing a short hop then doing a diagonal dodge once you are in the air.
No slide.

brawl is the reason i downloaded homebrew: for brawl+ and wavedashing.... you could combo like in FUN AND NORMAL fighting games but brawl got ruined and they took out hit suns, wavedashing, lcancel, hard (er) lv9s, and fun.... this game is tekken without a lifebar

This isn't really like wavedashing. Wave dashing doesn't make you dodge on the ground, it just gives you a sliding momentum from where you can start any move. It's for positioning not dodgin. This hack is kinda missing what wavedashing is.

no, it just balances the game more. Imagine if you could edit all the data for each character, you would be able to make them all equal, instead of having one character like metaknight be ridiculous overpowered. Brawl hacks can change that, and make all characters playable.

I have question, Why do people like wavedashing? It looks like it would take forever for two people to end a match since no one wouldn't be able to land a hit. Melee fans, dont flame me. I never wavedashed in melee because I was like 9 when I got the game so I have no idea what its like.

lol an insult to the great Phantom Wings? He fools around with brawl codes for fun, and since there are all types of smash gamers I guess he made THIS AIR DODGE CODE to appease to the "pro gaming" group. Hacks are used in brawl to enhance gameplay, you get to choose what codes you want to use.
But seriously P.W is the reason why Texture/PSA/All kinds of misc. hacks exist.

If you want to wavedash, go pop in your Melee disc into your wii and wavedash. don't bring a glitch that you really liked onto a future generation game

Heh, when you play against the types who actually play about 8 hours a day, you realize that they don't even need wavedashing or the likes to ruin the fun for those that just want to enjoy it. Seriously, I consider myself pretty good at the game, but when I go to conventions and play against these guys, I just have no chance when they play as cheaply as they do.
After three rounds of that bull, I didn't play again that whole con (Anime Fest). Hardly anyone was even hacking, too. Ugh...

Nothing is wrong with either type. Tiers are for competitive play (which casual players don't understand) and items are for casual play (which competitive players don't understand). It all depends on one's own opinion of what is fun. Some prefer the former and reject the latter, and vice-versa. But neither is really better than the other. Opinions are not facts, only perspectives.

perhaps noob friendly in some areas but it can be a bitch sometimes if you dont know what your doing.
oh, and typically any texture hack works online but only the hacker can see it. an item swap MIGHT work but I have not tested this. also you can typically send hacked stages (as long as its not just completely insane, like putting in parts from battlefield or something). move altering tends to cause problems online though.

Hey Threeexcepotion, did you realise when writing your comment that nintendo wants EVERYBODY to buy their product and not just shaggy wimps who sleep in their parents garage and play video games all day? With all the things like wavedashing to make competits to play it, it would lose some appeal to the casual gamer. And nintendo NEEDS casual gamers as It's a fucking party game.
