@FanOBarbaro she beat the derby winner and another classic winner so shut up about stuff you know nothing about yes she had some trouble on the dirt alot of other GREAT horses have as well I bet Blame cant beat crap of artificial turf . SHE IS THE BEST she just had a bad trip that's all blame is also a good horse but NOT the best sorry she has won wayy more BC races than Blame
If zenyatta would of stuck with the pack just a a TINY bit closer, blame would of lost. Zenyatta did amazing considering she was DEAD last, she covered alot of ground. And mike was trying to find a opening but it took some time. Zenyatta deserved to win, mike shouldn't be put down tho.he did was amazing
Garrett, you'd never find anyone who wanted Zenyatta to win that Classic and retire unbeaten anymore than myself. That said, you're a professional jockey, with a job to do, and you were on the one horse that stood the best chance of beating Zenyatta that day at Churchill Downs. You should never have to apologize for Blame beating Zenyatta. I give Blame all the credit in the world for finally being the horse to accomplish what many tried to so over the years, but failed to get done!! JMO.
@GBeret83 No-Rachel Alexandra getting Horse of the Year was not a joke...she deserved it.Zenyatta beating up on the same horses over and over isn't deserving of horse of the year to me
@FanOBarbaro Beating up on the same horses? Do your research...Zenyatta beat more G1 horses09' than RA did in 09.RA beat up on g2 and g3 males and a very tired preakness field...Zenyatta beat the best at their best in the BCC...She beat the Best in the Ladies BCC too.The only horse that ever beat Zenyatta was blame...and thats only because she had a terrible trip and everybody knows it.If she got the perfect trip like blame, she wouldve dusted his ass too
@FanOBarbaro Whats challenging about beating up on on g2 and g3 males? Bloodhorse wrote an article about the difference between RA's competition and Zenyattas... Zenyatta beat over 19 proven g1 horses...RA only beat 6. Thats a fact. Jess J never had a good excuse for not coming to Cali to face Zenyatta in the classic or in the 2010 apple blossom because RA was racing at keenland before Jess baught her and Keenlands track is Pro Ride...not dirt. Two 5 million$ purses RA didnt come to claim.
Try winning the Grade I Alabama 3 years in a row at Saratoga. It's not easy. Zenyatta won the Grade I Vanity three years in a row, Grade I Clement L. Hirsch three years in a row and the Grade I Lady's Secret three years in a row. Zenyatta was so dominating that no eastern-based horseflesh would fly west to run against her in these races and the 2009 "Joke of the Year" ran for the hills and bowed out of the 2010 "$5 million dollar Apple Blossom" at Oaklawn.
@DBJKAJ - Your not saying much for Z if your trying to use races like the Hirsch, and Lady's Secret to better your case you might as well not. Oh wait then there is the 09 classic where she beat horses who had never had a run over Poly, and she raced exclusively over Poly. Then when it is time to throw punches on dirt in a full field vs open company and getting a significant weight allowance vs no horses who won at 10f(aside from Haynesfield) she got beat. Once Blame saw her Its was over:)
you have to hand HOY to the one who lost the only time she actually faced decent competition during the year, and beat up on a very weak group of So Cal females in her other races, LMAO
@ghostzapper2006 weak??? lmfao...go do your research.Just because RA beat a bunch of tired half hearted males in the preakness..Faced only 6 g1 males in 09' shes so great?...hahaaa..RA beat shitty sub par male competition. Zen beat the best fillys for 3 years in a row and the only horse that beat Zen was blame.Because she had an awful trip..and thats the only reason. Go read Zenyattas wiki page and maybe you'll be humbled a bit and shut the fuck up.
What did she lose by ? What did Seattle Slew lose by in his first race in the west when he was 9 for 9 ? Can you name the last horse to beat the west , out here ? THE WEST HAS THE BEST. WINNING COLORS, SUNDAY SILENCE, SPECTACULAR BID, ALYSHEBA & the last Triple Crown winner AFFIRMED. Why didn't Rachel Alexander run in the 2009 Breeders Cup? NUFF' SAID.
@6cobrasnake9 you'll specially luv those races (2000 & 2001 BCC TIZNOW VICTORIES) cuz both years the 2nd place horses were champions from europe (GIANTS CAUSEWAY AND SAKHEE), great horses none the less, but it would have been kinda depressing and w/out question embarrassing to have 2 horses from europe jump across the pond and whip us 2 yrs in a row in the BCC
@6cobrasnake9 I agree...if RA wouldve ran in the 09' BCC she wouldve coughed up blood by the time she hit the wire..She wouldnt have even placed. People talk about how great RA was and if you break down her competition you'll see she ran against subpar males and RAs fields were actually weaker than Zenyattas.
@EMCEMITCH your right blame won and deserves all the recognition and your right about the dirt also... BUT SERIOUSLY! blame had "the perfect trip" (t. denman) should have put the race away in final furlong but couldn't and did nothing more than HANG ON... hardly a homer... is TIZNOW A HOMER? only horse to defend title in history of BCC 2000 and 2001 FROM THE WEST check those races out u will luv them!!!! WEST COAST EAST COAST HORSES SUCH A DUMB DIVIDE. DIRT vs SYNTHETIC IS ALL THAT SEPERATES EM
@EMCEMITCH LMAO...if that race wouldve been 5 yards longer Blame wouldve been lookin at her ass and thats a fact...if blame had the trip Zen had..no way in hell he wouldve turned it around to place second. THATS A FACT.West Coast has been ruling Thoroughbred horse racing for the last 15 years you moron....go get a clue...blame aint shit..he just had a perfect trip on his home court.
@1:37 "I wish she would have went 20 for 20 at the expense of somebody else and not us". Excellent comment Garrett. I was happy for you because not only did you beat Zenyatta but also you beat Bob Baffert and Looking At Lucky who was your horse at one point until Baffert was highly critical of you. Martin Garcia isn't half the rider you are. Way to go GO-GO!!!
@TheGoldmarie123 COULDN'T AGREE W/U MORE GARRETT SEEMS LIKE A CLASS ACT... WANTED ZEN TO WIN OF COURSE BUT I CAN EASILY SAY I'M HAPPY FOR BLAME AND HIS PEOPLE... LOOKN AT LUCKY WAS NOTHING MORE THAN A STATUE IN THE STRETCH... I LUV THE LOOK OVER TO HIS RIGHT MARTIN GARCIA GAVE WHEN HE SAW ZEN FLYIN BY HIM IN THE STRETCH
Why wish for Garrett to lose every race? People may resent him for beating Zen(just doing his job), even hate him for the way he can be sometimes with the attitude(which we all can get ).
I don't take anything away from Blame. He's a top class colt, that's had a great career in his own right. Nobody run's the main track at Churchill Downs as well as Blame. Blame got the perfect trip, and first run for home. That's what made the difference in the outcome of the race. Zenyatta could've folded. At one time, so far back, she looked well beaten. But she showed a champions heart. Asked so much, and came up inches short. Blame, best on the day. Zenyatta, best horse in the race. IMO.
Garrett was so Lucky for winning in the first race of Breeders Cup Classic, name horse PLUCK and he Ended winning in the last race, name horse BLAME beat Zenyatta. I can say he is the luckiest jockey today for openning and closing BREEDERS CUP CLASSIC 2010... pLUCK and b LAME- LUCK & LAME..huh?
he is definitely not happy he beat zenyatta, no celeberations after the winning line, didnt whip blame at all. everyone in that field wanted her to win, for publicity to the game... and she would of done it if she wasnt 30 off the pace
@chr1sred That's not true. Try running 400 metres in 65 seconds and then complete a mile. Then the next day run 400 meteres in 75 seconds and complete a mile. Then compare the time trials and i bet the second time is quicker. Of course this hypothesis is based on you neither being a world class athlete nor a fat tub of shit. And basically, i was just trying to educate you in case you were thinking of placing bets in the future. That was Zenyattas style. Period. And probly why she was so great!
@JockinAyder Ok 1 im not a horse.. 2 i have done running before and yeah i do know if you go abit slower you have alot more energy for the final sprint, but literally falling out of the gates and not moving at all giving the field 30 lengths advantage? she just gave the pack an easy lead, nothing about consevation of energy, the only reason she got close is because she was a mix of the best horse in the race and the horse everyone wanted to win...
@JBar387, I agree. Garrett Gomez, to my mind, showed nothing but respect for Zenyatta in his post-race comments. He was on a top-class horse, and this is racing. You have to ride to win. No one understands that any better than Mike Smith and John Shirreffs. Blame just proved the better horse on the day. But in another race, even on dirt, I think Zenyatta could beat Blame. But I think Garrett handled himself with the utmost pride in his press conference. All the greats have lost at least once.
@rockmyworld2011 and he actually said the right stuff, i would be totally stoked to beat zenyatta, and im sure you would too, you would be THE jockey that did it, THE jockey that brought the queen down, and to even think that its a sad day for racing, and hearing that, u know that jockey has respect
@colinprprpr I'm not talking about just this interview. Just in general. He's arrogant and cocky. Some things he's said in the past just gets under my skin. ugh.
Garret Gomez I hope when Blame runs in 2011 that you and the horse lose every single race, and I hope when you step onto the track that everybody boos you. GO ZENYATTA LONG LIVE THE QUEEN
