never had a kidney stone, but what doesn't make sense to me is that calcium stones are the most common type of kidney stone and foods high in oxalate are supposed to be avoided with calcium stones. sodas and asparagus are at the top of the list of oxalate rich foods.......

first sign of kidney stone pain.....drink a 40 ounce beer, take 2 regular aspirin(must be aspirin) and then go to bed.This worked for me. 7 hours later when urinating, the small BB sized stone passed. May not work for bigger stones.

Who came up with the Coke and Asparagus remedy??? It's almost like someone is playing a sick joke. (Coke and asparagus are BOTH high in oxalates which cause the formation of calcium oxalate stones in the first place!)

tried this method tho i felt totally bloated and wanting to puke i held it in . all it did was make me pee hard withing a gap of 20 mins. still it didnt solve anything and lemons are a big no no . my docter recommended boiling barley seeds ,straining that and drinkingi really got to say it makes you pee alot its safer and more friendly to the body . but nothing beats going to the doc . i really feel for you ppl i just got my stone blasted 3 days ago and this was one bad trip

@EointheGuy101 Any type of sodapop can cause kidney stones because of the caffeine and suger. But you can't go through life being affraid to drink your favorite stuff, just don't drink to much and if you are feeling extreme pains for long periods of time go see a doctor. Thanks for watching

Thanks for that. I know the symptoms you mention well. But you did it in 1-hour. It is supposed to be done over 2 hours! Also pour into glass so more gas gets released. Canned asparagus is just as good and you dont get that string effect. But does it work? I don't know but I've just finished the asparagus bit and had my first glass of pure water. Asparagus and colas are high in oxalate and thus need to be restricted when have kidney stones composed of calcium oxalate. Treatment and diet restrictions depends on the type of kidney stones you have: calcium phosphate, calcium oxalate, uric acid, struvite, or cystine, how large, its location, and severity of how u feel. Going to the doctor to determine what course of treatment to follow is best.

I have "birthed" at least 5 kidney stones in 25 years. Let me tell you ,it's not like birthing a child, the more you have the more you get used to it. It hurts like nothing you have ever experienced before. Nurses have told me that they would take child birth pain any day over kidney stone pain. I believe them. the last ER treatmen I had for my stone was an injection of some kind of non narcotic drug used or imflammation. It worked beautifully, I could take as much and as often as needed.

I never heard of such a thing. The asparagus I can see, but coke? Instead of drinking coke, you should invest in buying a juicer, and juice the asparagus. I don't know if that would help but it be an improvement.

Kidney Stones: the only thing that I've heard from these people are ridiculous cures & some dangerous. There is NOTHING that you can do. I can't speak for people who have stones different than mine calcium-oxylate. Once a stone is passing there are only 2 outcomes. You either have to have some sort of surgery & there are several or hope it's small enough to pass. I've had as long as 3 months to pass a stone; some just a few hours. They are very unpredictible as to outcomes.

@kutangelwings KSs are an insidious disease. About 4 weeks ago I had bloody urine but not all the time. Had a CT scan didn't see a thing; more blood this weekend.. There have been several times that the KS are hiding but sooner or later you have to deal with every KS in your body. If you have ks for god's sake don't eat a large amount of peanuts! I wish that some of these home med. would work. I'd be the 1st one to use them but for me it doesn't happen.

This worked for me. In my case the water where I lived was part of the cause. Two bundles of asparagus cooked down and put in a blender and blend it until it is like baby food. Eat is all quickly as possible. As far as the coke, open them and let the carbonation fizzle out. I did a liter each time. People are different so many things will give you kidney stones. For me it was too many peanuts in the shell. I stopped and drink plenty of water. No stones in a year. No pain on earth like stones.

Of you can, try the lemons and water remedy my urologyst recomended lemon juice from what ive heard ot softens the stone making it much less painfull to pass because believe me they ARE painfull to pass. Good luck and feel better.

@Brennna No, you are mistaken. Lemon juice will not help stones comprised of uric acid, but it does help dissolve stones made of calcium. Any acidic juice--lime, orange, lemon, etc.--is going to help dissolve stones made of CALCIUM. Stones made of uric acid often have to be treated with medication in order to break them down.

the caffine in coke can cause stones, but if you drink 6_ 12oz cokes within an hour, the acid in it breaks up a stone and if you add lemon to the coke it makes the acid stronger, doctors will tell you to try it if you have stones.
