Muhammad (saw) did not like it when the sahaba said he was better than the other prophets. We as muslims have no place to say this prophet was better than that prophet.
Being an educated Muslim and not knowing the Shahada would be like saying you were an educated Roman Catholic and not knowing the "Our Fathers" or "Hail Mary". Completely fraudulent.

Certianly if nothing else, any Muslim, not to devout even, can say al Fathiah, as we say it alot during our prayer times.
