Freddie Mercury.Brian May..Roget Taylor.John Deacon..you lived up to your name...Queen. Freddie chose this name in part cause it was regal..powerful..something absolute..this is Queen.4 men each a musical genius..masters of their craft. I consider myself fortunate.to have seen them live 3 times..they were amazing.from the first cord...to the first note of Freddie's...clear. perfect voice..you were taken on a musical journey.Their music will live on..Freddie.was a gem may he RIP
i saw queen in concert 4 times...my first concert i was 4th row from the stage, i almost caught freddie's tamborine he threw to the audience....i was on a high weeks after that............i miss queen
Queen always remained true to their music/art. They were the smartest band around in their day. There are more young people like you who have discovered Queen and found out how music has been "dumbed down" for the masses. I congratulate you on appreciating Queen and hope you get as many years of enjoyment from them as I have (35 years so far). Seeing them live was awesome.
I saw them in L.A. during their Hot Space tour in 1982. Billy Squier opened for them. My high school friends like Queen but after the concert, they LOVED them. They are great musicians with an awesome catalog of songs and Freddie was a master showman who could get a crowd fired up. Freddie can sing anything, all styles of music and the range of an opera singer. Such a talented man.
I did see Paul Rodgers and Queen in concert and paid $350 for VIP seats through the Queen Fan Club.
wow, cant belive only 22157 views ,it doesnt get much better than this.Erly queen with the thrash element about to come through to queen 1 and queen 2 and sheer h.a. superb.
Wow, this is a huge trip down memory lane. Judging by Freddie's harlequin outfit its from the 1977 tour. I saw them in Glasgow and its so wonderful to relive the times and with such good quality.
Between 1973 and 1977, Queen released six albums and naturally choices had to be made otherwise gigs would have lasted about four/five hours.
Thanks for posting this.
Heavens, I was 21 back then, where have the years gone.
I used to stay up late and listen to this album when I was younger. Now, here we are decades later, and I'm still staying up late and listening to this album... I'd trade it all to have Freddie back with us.
1:30 to 2:59 is one catchy beat... brian has some of the best guitar riffs along with johns smooth bass lines and rogers progressive drum beats and of course Freddie's large voice
You just feel they'd been playing this song for about 10 years before it got this mojo feeling. Great song, but it really matured with age (or maybe they matured ...)!
This isn't a Queen song, It's a Smile song, was written by Brian May and Tim Stafell and was released on the 'Ghost Of A Smile' album, Roger Taylor sings most of it, or mayb jst the 1st verse, not listened 2 it for a while 2 remember lol. I prefer Queen's version of this tho
It IS originally a Smile song. It's here on youtube, just search for Doin' Alright or Smile or whatever. Queens version is better of course. Hehehe. Goes wothout saying, really.
Right well... written by Brian May -- Brian is in Queen... obviously, he had rights to the song. So, it once was performed by Smile but it is officially a Queen song, I believe. Smile is pretty much comprised of Queen anyway -- Roger and Brian. Why split hairs over whose song it is?? Roger & Brian ARE QUEEN. Have a nice day. ;-)
This is from Earls court? Earls court is a pretty big place right?! I remember seeing the Pink Floyd's pulse video from there and it was pretty impressive. Was it like that when Queen performed? Im not from England so i hope somebody can shed some light for me? :)

Freddie makes such clear, sparse, nice choices on the piano. Nice backing vocals too.
Sounds like a MXR phase 90 on May's gtr. And May has the dang weirdest, hardest rhythms to comp. Must be an English thing.
jimmychipper 4 years ago 4
Sounds like an MXR Phase 90 but it's actually a Foxx Phaser. They started making them again recently.... Yes I need to get out more.

Thru an AC-30 also. I want that sound but the guitar is going to be tough to get considering his Dad built it.
