It runs in Vista with the 1.04beta patch. The later 1.05 patch doesn't work in Vista. I was pleasantly surprised to find it also runs at the resolutions my monitor supports, so I have it running at 1400*900 fullscreen :)
There is a way to customize your own map in Railroad Tycoon 3. You can control how much log camps and all other industries put out each year, if you don't have the cheat codes yet, here is a nice one to use, bailout this one gives your company 10 million dollars. Thanks for seeing my video.

go go go - All trains go double speed
safety first - Trains never crash
oops - All trains crash
big dog - Give your player $10 million
bailout - Give your company $10 million

want all of the trains? hit the period key on your keyboard, and type trains are in my blood then hit enter.

I just put the install cd in and and it started installing, when it asked me for the play cd I put that in and it loaded right up.
