It was good to see this deep, serious side of you, no makeup and all. God bless your family right now, Laura. I prayed for your father and your family. My family is dealing with health issues, too.
I don't know how close your home is to the any fires, but keep your necessities close at hand and ready to go. Here in Flagstaff we're told to keep the three P's ready: pills, papers, pictures; the important things we may need to take with us. God bless!
I have seen the news, read about this disaster, and tried to imagine what it would be like to live out there, Your few of sharing did more for me than all the rest. It wasn't what you said as much as the depth in which you said it. Your dad is of course a great concern, but I do not really think that was the cause of your lack of sleep. Mr. C
Just so noone misunderstands- I did not mean to say that the fires are not a tragedy. They are. I did not mean to compare or diminish, and I take it back. I was responding to MichaelRobert1974, and realize it came out WRONG when I read it back.
No, of course it's not a tragedy like 9/11, far from it. I'm sure Laura realizes that. I think she's just reacting to all the eeriness going on around her, and her dad having to go in for surgery to boot.
That, too, can have an effect on a person. It doesn't have to be the biggest tragedy to affect one's feelings. She is a human and not a robot.
Man, you need to get some sleep! It is okay to worry about family. My brother took in some evacuees in Valencia, and they had an arsonist driving around starting fires and looters in the evacuated areas. But it is better now... oh, and get prepared for the flashfloods and mudslides this winter and the earthquake in 08.
One clearly best wait until the end of a story before providing a summation of the story. The burned buildings are half the story. The other half of the southern California fires is cities rebuilt. Reporting the on-going story with all the horrors is, of course, a part of cities being re-built.
Yes, I understand the loss of many of those southern california residents but they are in fact alive. Real grief is having neighbors who have lost family and friends in the 9/11 bombing. Please, I like you but not when you are feeling sorry for yourself without good reason. Count your blessings Laura Segura...really!
With all respect, I think you are looking for a reason to feel sad. Your father is athletic and probably in better shape than most parents his age. Not everyone is blessed to have a parent who has to have an athletic injury. It could be far worse...trust me on this, you are blessed.
dukeofharuson, I think you need to examine your own arrogance. My posting was speaking to Laura Segura. My reply to your post was done only to clarify to Laura Segura my point if she had interpreted as you did. I actually am not concerned about your opinion.
Just to make a public record of what michaelrobert1974 sent to my inbox:
Hey Jerk

Before you accuse some one of being condescending why don't you try looking at the point the person is making. You want to make brownie points with LUCYinLA then do so but not at my expense!
You left out the bottom part of the Personal Message dukeofharuson:
"Before you accuse some one of being condescending why don't you try looking at the point the person is making. You want to make brownie points with LUCYinLA then do so but not at my expense!"
However, dukeofharuson, I will explain to Laura Segura that she is an amazingly attractive and talented woman who is making things happen for her. Her parent is not in a life threatening situation and her personal possessions are not actually in harms way. These are all blessings! She could probably add to that list I'm sure.
"...your phrase "trust me on this, you are blessed" is so condescending."
Perhaps condescending, but said to stress that not everyone has the blessing of having both parents and in relatively in good health. Yes... she should count her blessings.
michaelrobert1974, The amusing thing is that you had already said "Perhaps condescending, but ..." so had accepted that you were condescending - so I was not accusing but discerning, it was your confession not mine. So what's with the abuse? I've had to block you and I wont be replying to anymore of your comments.
For the public record, it was I who had blocked dukeofharuson one second after I had sent him the PM, which is why he probably made it public record to provoke me further. The fact is he had no business at all judging a comment I had meant for Laura Segura in the first place. It would be great not to have to associate with dukeofharuson ever again. Thank you.

Yes, the fires were burning all around, the roads were closed, and the air was hard to breathe. Nice of you to think of me....err, all of us down there.
hey, my mom had shoulder surgery in June and she did great, your dad will too!
i lived in san diego for 7 years until i moved away this past june. it makes me so sad. we just had fires a few years ago, the same people (and more) who were evacuated are getting it again, it's just really sad. hope the fires die down soon.
Hey, just throwing in there that the pollution could totally be affecting your ability to sleep. Air quality is something to worry about for you and lots of others right now.
I think the best kind of content is created at the wee hours of the night. Good luck to your father, Lucy.
And yes, the California fires are a bit freaky. Even though I'm on the complete other side of the country. I do hope all is well with everyone involved. I'm sure eventually everything will be put under control. That orange sky sounds a bit eery indeed, Lucy.
Hope things get better for you Lucy, and your dad's shoulder gets better. Glad to hear the fires are dying down in most areas. What makes it worse is that some of the fires were started deliberately by arsonists.
My dad had surgery, and he died from it (it was a serious operation). I'd always thought an event of such magnitude would kill me, but it didn't. 9/11 happened, and life still continued, our jobs, our personal dramas, everything. For those of us on this earth, it's our duty to persevere and just keep doing whatever it is you do, because others have not been so lucky.
Its great to see that you are contemplative about these things. Your a great person and hopefully you get to the point where you can play roles that bring these characteristics out in others.
Oh my. May I suggest Nesquick strawberry milk and an Ambien - works wonders. I could only hear a little of what you had to say because traveling on the OH/PA border it takes 45 minutes to see your vid even in a good hotspot. Please smile and be happy.
Leave Lucy alone!!!. She knows she did not do too good in the first episode but you gotta give her credit for all the effort she's been putting. All you bastards want is more, more, more! I am waiting for a comeback. Come on Segura... dazzle us with your talent and shut me up.
Aw, i love when your blogs are just straight out of the heart...it's awful what's going on down there, i saw it on the news...terrifying! And it came so suddenly too...
And actually, i can do more than she can. Way more. I know what you're gonna do. You've already put it in your head to hate everything i say and do, so you're gonna jump to my profile, watch half a video, come back here and tell me i have no talent.
At least i had the decency to stick with Laura for a while in the hope that she'd prove herself as an actress.
Laura doesn't act. Did you see her NYC vid where she was going into Harlem, and was all scared/disturbed and spoke of Harlem condescendingly? Or her recent vid, which was suppose to be a situation comedy, and she over-acts with her eyes and has attitude because she has to live with a guy. From my experience, she's always been stuck up. Privilege has that effect on some. You try to be friendly, but she acts like a bitch.
I live in Moreno Valley, California. All the smoke from the surrounding areas are drifting into Riverside County, making the sky freakin' gloomy and the air unbreathable.
I'm so sorry Luce, it's such a hard world right now, just know that I am here for you, I hope your dad's surgery will go ok and he'll be feeling better soon and yes the fires in California are very sad, you are in our thoughts and prayers! Love you girl!
It is a tough subject to vlog about (as I am finding too). The feeling of concern is universal. The challenge is not doing a vlog where you are pouting about the fires, but the fires haven't destroyed anything of your's personally, giving the impression that you want attention over it despite separation. Does that make sense? Anyhow, don't know if you remember the DeMo's, but (t)he(y) are in San Diego, Rancho Bernardo- had to be evacuated.
P.S. The sun was eerie? I thought it was gorgeous, especially the red/mauve sunset last night over Manhattan Beach. I guess it depends on your perspective on life. Some see array and get disturbed by it, others see something unique and find it a marvel.
Fire's are part of living in L.A. I was born and raised here and this happens every 5-10 years. Granted this year is a bit worse then the last time, but not by much. When the rain finally comes back we're all going to kick back and watch all those fancy houses go sliding down the hills. Ho-hum, just another day in L.A.
It is what happens when you disregard your environment, and design in the face of Nature instead of design with nature in mind. High fire-danger area?! Hell, let's build wood structures with not adequate fire protection. We'll show nature what is up. nope
"Fire's are part of living in L.A. I was born and raised here and this happens every 5-10 years. Granted this year is a bit worse then the last time, but not by much."
I like your perspective on the recent events. Something I'll have to be mindful of when I move out there!
It's awful! The Fires! I live in Orange County and I'm seeing what you're seeing! You almost feel like you're on another planet. My heart goes out to all who have lost homes or loved ones from these fires.
So nice to see a "normal" blog instead as 'Lucy" says all that other stuff....we love it when you are "real" and just sharing and obviously you must get something out of it as well to carry on doing the things... so carry on sharing and we carry on caring
Weird how you said "This city is burning"... I had a dream about 3 years ago of LA burning. It even inspired the following "when I'm to walk along the shore through the city I've seen burn before I'll know I have walked into another life". So, here's to rebirth. You've been awesome so far, stay strong.
My dad had shoulder surgery 2 days ago. He's been doing alright. Medicated. Trouble sleeping. Nothing too serious. I think your dad will probably be ok. Then again, I don't know the specifics of his surgery. But I'll be hoping things go well for him. Keep us posted on how he's doing. I hope you feel better.
Answer me this, do you ever have anything positive to say about anything or anyone?
Just curious. Or do you come out with stuff just to see it in print? Does that comment make you feel good or important? Just curious. Doing a study on self-centered, selfish, ego driven personalities. Have a good one.
Yes, I make positive comments, but sometimes I make sarcastic ones. Lucy is way on the periphery of the annual Cali forest fires and her dad's having minor surgery, so she's all weepy and emo. Sorry. Strikes me as funny.
Good call. I wouldn't have said it as harsh as that but essentially you are right. I still like her though, just not when she is feeling sorry for herself without good cause! Thanks for your courage!
Yes, those fires may be annual but that doesn't mean they are any less tragic! and FYI these are the worst fires in California history! It matters not how major or minor her father's surgery is, if it causes her to be 'weepy and 'emo', so what? It's her vlog, she is just voicing her concern for both the fires and her father.
I like Lucy a lot, and generally enjoy her vids. But any actress doing an emo demo I have to wonder if she's acting. I suppose it's the curse of all actors not to be taken seriously.
Lucy, I really feel for you in this video I know how you must feel believe me. Greece was effected by a fire 30feet flames went over my house on the island of evia . As for your father I too have been there with my dad He had to have a lump from his throat removed luckily he was fine after so i wish your dad good health don't worry he will be fine. I really wish you my kindest regards and as always best wishes
The Santa Ana winds are due back early next week, so said one meterologist. Hope you have a car so you can comply with evacuation orders if necessary. Probably get a 6.1 earthquake 2-14 days after the first heavy rain 24 days from now.
Such a legitimately talented, pretty and warm-hearted person. Thank you for doing this video, Lucy. You dad will be in my prayers and thoughts, as all those affected in the California fires.
Best of luck to your father. I'm sure he'll re-coop just fine. The fire is terrible. On the news all the time here in NY. Hope everything gets better from here on.
Yeah, I noticed a couple days ago that the sky had that post-nuclear orange tinge here in Orange County. It seems much better now that the SAnta Ana winds have died down quite a bit. I don't smell the ash anymore atleast and can finally leave my window open. I hope it's better as well for the other counties.
Two years ago I was in Burbank doing some work for Disney and there were fires all around us. When I rode in in the morning I could see and smell the smoke, but when I headed home that evening the skies were clear. I looked at satellite images and it was as if a giant hand had parted the smoke, sending big streams of it north and south of us but leaving Burbank and N. Hollywood clear. Kind of neat, but a bit unsettling, too.
Sorry to hear about your Dad. Hope everything goes well with him. Your Dad and those affected by the fire will most certainly be in my prayers tonight. Take care.
I remember the first time I saw the erie orange glow in LA. it was in 2002..I thought it looked a lot like Mars. I had just woken up and had no idea there was a fire...so i was under the assumption that LA just looked like that sometimes..I posted a video i took of the fire i'm speaking of.

why am i like what? Honest?
And actually, i can do more than she can. Way more. I know what you're gonna do. You've already put it in your head to hate everything i say and do, so you're gonna jump to my profile, watch half a video, come back here and tell me i have no talent.
At least i had the decency to stick with Laura for a while in the hope that she'd prove herself as an actress.

I didn't even watch your channel cos I don't care. Who succeeds, succeeds, who has talent, has talent. No need to be harsh on ppl!

You try to be friendly, but she acts like a bitch.

and all her friends and supporters too, right b1blancer1?

I live in Moreno Valley, California. All the smoke from the surrounding areas are drifting into Riverside County, making the sky freakin' gloomy and the air unbreathable.

I'm so sorry Luce, it's such a hard world right now, just know that I am here for you, I hope your dad's surgery will go ok and he'll be feeling better soon and yes the fires in California are very sad, you are in our thoughts and prayers! Love you girl!

It is a tough subject to vlog about lauri.
mde2004 4 years ago
It is a tough subject to vlog about (as I am finding too). The feeling of concern is universal. The challenge is not doing a vlog where you are pouting about the fires, but the fires haven't destroyed anything of your's personally, giving the impression that you want attention over it despite separation. Does that make sense? Anyhow, don't know if you remember the DeMo's, but (t)he(y) are in San Diego, Rancho Bernardo- had to be evacuated.
Spective10 4 years ago

Ho-hum, just another day in L.A.
ron20191702 4 years ago
It is what happens when you disregard your environment, and design in the face of Nature instead of design with nature in mind. High fire-danger area?! Hell, let's build wood structures with not adequate fire protection. We'll show nature what is up. nope

"Fire's are part of living in L.A. I was born and raised here and this happens every 5-10 years. Granted this year is a bit worse then the last time, but not by much."
I like your perspective on the recent events. Something I'll have to be mindful of when I move out there!

This was more than "a bit worse" than previous years by the way. This was a disaster of epic proportions

This weather is a part of what LA is about. Johnny Carson once said: "LA has four sesasons: Fire, Flood, Mud and Drought!"
You'll get used to it, after a while and remember: The show must go on!
And the next season is: Flood.

It's awful! The Fires! I live in Orange County and I'm seeing what you're seeing! You almost feel like you're on another planet. My heart goes out to all who have lost homes or loved ones from these fires.
Good thoughts and prayers for your dad, too!

Have a good one.
scrufferdog 4 years ago
Yes, I make positive comments, but sometimes I make sarcastic ones. Lucy is way on the periphery of the annual Cali forest fires and her dad's having minor surgery, so she's all weepy and emo. Sorry. Strikes me as funny.
jonesr999 4 years ago
Good call. I wouldn't have said it as harsh as that but essentially you are right. I still like her though, just not when she is feeling sorry for herself without good cause! Thanks for your courage!
michaelrobert1974 4 years ago
Yes, those fires may be annual but that doesn't mean they are any less tragic! and FYI these are the worst fires in California history! It matters not how major or minor her father's surgery is, if it causes her to be 'weepy and 'emo', so what? It's her vlog, she is just voicing her concern for both the fires and her father.

That's why you visit LUCYinLA's vlog?

I like Lucy a lot, and generally enjoy her vids. But any actress doing an emo demo I have to wonder if she's acting. I suppose it's the curse of all actors not to be taken seriously.

Lucy, I really feel for you in this video I know how you must feel believe me. Greece was effected by a fire 30feet flames went over my house on the island of evia . The Santa Ana winds are due back early next week, so said one meterologist. Hope you have a car so you can comply with evacuation orders if necessary. Probably get a 6.1 earthquake 2-14 days after the first heavy rain 24 days from now.

Best of luck to your father. I'm sure he'll re-coop just fine. The fire is terrible. On the news all the time here in NY. Hope everything gets better from here on.
Xenu 4 years ago
Yeah, I noticed a couple days ago that the sky had that post-nuclear orange tinge here in Orange County. It seems much better now that the SAnta Ana winds have died down quite a bit. I don't smell the ash anymore atleast and can finally leave my window open. I hope it's better as well for the other counties.

We see the fires on the news constantly up here in no. Cal. I can't believe that there are people starting fires to make it worse:(
I hope that the animals are all taken to safe areas. How close is it to the zoo? What would they do with all of those animals?

Two years ago I was in Burbank doing some work for Disney and there were fires all around us. When I rode in in the morning I could see and smell the smoke, but when I headed home that evening the skies were clear. I looked at satellite images and it was as if a giant hand had parted the smoke, sending big streams of it north and south of us but leaving Burbank and N. Hollywood clear. Kind of neat, but a bit unsettling, too.

I remember the first time I saw the erie orange glow in LA. it was in 2002..I thought it looked a lot like Mars. I had just woken up and had no idea there was a fire...so i was under the assumption that LA just looked like that sometimes..I posted a video i took of the fire i'm speaking of.
