I am a Falun Gong practitioner. Falun Dafa is a cultivation system in the Buddha School based on the principles of the Universe: 真 Truthfulness 善 Compassion 忍 Forbearance.
Since 1999 it has been brutally persecuted by the CCP in China. People are being killed, tortured, put into concentration camps and have organs harvested from live people, simply because of their belief. More than 3400 Falun Gong practitioners have died at the hands of CCP in the past 12 years.
Imagine watching this in theaters...along with a good feature film, a western, and serial, and a few cartoons like Looney Tunes and Popeye. And all for just two to three dimes!
Now it's only a movie, a few trailers, a bunch of commercials (come on we get too much of that on TV already!) for ten to twenty bucks!
It's official, theaters have devolved. And considering we're dumping grease into landfills instead of recycling it and similar actions, I think we've devolved too. XP
So back in WWII we were recycling waste fats and turning them into something useful. Today we dump it in land fills.... Did we go back in time and magically lose that technology?!
@krackersdave Dumping it into a landfill is wasteful. Now converting it into glycerin and using it to kill your enemies is an efficient use of resources. Today we don't need that much grease for weapons but we could be using it in diesel engines or in our tanks (might as well burn waste instead of perfectly good diesel).
Maybe this went over better in an era where the average American craved German and Japanese blood and leaped at the opportunity to pay higher taxes, but in an era of cynicism and weariness towards the government, this just feels corny and trite.
Even if everything wasn't synthetic and abundant today, saving bacon fat so the government can kill another round of foreigners? Surely, you jest.
This is s-o-o-o-o funny My dad used to save kitchen grease for our dogs it flavored their food and made their coat shiny. Who knew simple bacon grease and meat drippings could be made into explosives I'm from the south and I use both to season my greens and beans which can be pretty explosive after a meal(lol) or I make gravy. All that oil in the pan after Minnie cooked I wondered what hers and Pluto's cholesterol level was.
@bdwskywarn And to be totally honest, if we had the same levels of technology in World War 2 as today, rationing might not have been so severe. We can produce much more food and equipment now than ever before (Fact: In the Korean War. More bombs were dropped on North Korea than on Germany in World War 2. And more bombs were dropped in total on North Vietnam than all of World War 2. Neither of these wars required any kind of rationing).
that shot of Mickey at 2:05 was probably the biggest load of bullshit disney ever hinted. Mickey never fought in the war; he wasn't even in any wartime films. (reused footage does not count unless you have new dialogue and you make it work). however he was on insignias for U.S. planes, but Donald contributed more to America during WWII than any other Disney character.
easy there kate, its for entertainment purposes and you seem really pissed off about it. You're right, Mickey was never in the war but then again he's a fuckin cartoon so try and enjoy it for what it is
Yeah I know, I just wanted to point that out to some people just to make a point and express it, in a way. Actually it's not so much that shot of Mickey that irks me, it's that Leonard Maltin on the Wartime cartoons DVD collection even bothered to mention Mickey as though he did contribute, that's all.
You know what, nobody cares about what you think escpecially with my comment, and hell even I don't care about my own comment, so don't bother replying to me, anymore.
This was common in a lot of the patriotic cartoons of the time. The Morse Code for the letter "V" (as in "V" For Victory) is three dots and a dash (. . . __). The reason why Beethoven's 5th is played is because it's usually written as Symphony No. V. V is the Roman Numeral for 5. At the end of some cartoons, it showed the letter "V" followed by the Morse Code symbol. There was even a Popeye cartoon that had him blow the Morse Code a la Beethoven with his pipe.

Man, I'd be overjoyed to pay higher taxes if I knew that conserving Bacon Grease would be used by the Gov't to go 'Grease' a Pachuco-greaser! :D
