Reading all your comments is comforting 'cause i know that the way SFU makes me feel, how much this amazing end made me cry so hard it's the same for other people.
Life goes exactly like that, that's why i loved so much every fuc*ing second of this show.
@birraveritas Amen to that !!!!!!!!!!!!! infact amen to everyone's comments, fantastic series, if u didnt shed a tear at the closing episode, you have a tin heart
I remember watching this when it aired, ( my favorite show at the time ) and I was just blown away by how they ended the series. Best finale, ever! : )
I really Hope, I do not believe, BUT I really hope this is what the afterlife is like... you see you first love... your children.... eh, I do NOT believe in ghosts but, this would be...comforting... I HOPE it is true...
Best series ending ever for a great show... I am a man, but I am not ashamed to admit that I start blubbering like, BIG womanish tears, pretty much 10 seconds in....
Loved the characters loved the show... cried like... well... I think we went over that...(did I talk about the snot running down my face like a huge drippy, mess? Yeah... that would be me....)
I really miss this show. It was so brilliantly written, directed and acted. It is so funny that life is really like the way the clip plays. People are here for such a brief time, they enter and leave our lives at any moment and often without notice. I think of all those who were in my life, but are no longer. I think of certain people often and other never enter my mind.
I just finished this show... I cried so hard, this show was such a big part of me in the last 2 months and I'm so sad to see it end... I'm glad I'm only 16, everything I learned about life and death will stick with me forever now. (would have been better if Claire still had her lime green hearse, though)
In the DVD commentary it says, that Brenda died because Billy was still talking about his failed relationship with claire and bores brenda to death LOLOL
yes its true ,i think it is the best ending for a series like this, i just completed all seasons and i don't think there can be any other drama series that can beat this one it was just awesome,i just cant explain it words but it was jut perfect ,keep it up alan ball
I haven't seen this since the show ended in 2005; I'm watching it now and sobbing, one of the most emotionally stirring finales ever. I know we all have to go but I'm not ready...
Cried (and had difficulty breathing) through this scene the first time on cable, and just again now. Thank you for posting this amazing finale to one of television's finest series.
I can say very confidently that even though I am a very manly guy (if I can say so myself!) that very rarely shows emotion, I cried heavily when the finale was aired in 2005, and continued crying for about 2 hours after.
Easily the best series finale I've ever seen. I've never been so satisfied with any finale ever. Something about that last 10 minutes steps up the entire series for me. Really what made it my favorite show. Never have I been so satisfied from a series finale - everything about it - the song, the montage as Clare drives away, the sense of closer as you actually see each character die (which is too perfect given the opening of every episode). All I can really say is flawless....flawless finale.
Who could dislike this video?! I've never watched the show but was reccomended it, so I watched the ending first. I think its beautiful and sad and its one of the few shows I wished I didn't spoil the ending for because of such wonderful closure.
This is and will remain the best TV series ever!!! It is the only show where I really felt invested in the characters lives and could relate to on so many levels. Alan Ball you rock!!!!!
I'm writing this with blurred vision from the tears...i feel like i just died with them! Thumps up for everyone who shares my opinion that this is the best series ever up to now !
The scene where Keith is shot always breaks my heart. I think about how he was always David's rock; when you see David alone at Claire's wedding it's just the saddest thing.
What makes this such a good ending is the final shot. Claire in the car, riding off into the distance, perhaps lost, and open ended to the aspect that the characters might not even die the way it was written. Speculative writing by Alan ball and open ended analysis for eternity! Just the best ever!!! WOOOOOO!
Greatest ending ever! One issue, when driving to the east coast from LA, once you get on the freeway you never get off. So when I saw her soon driving in the desert on a two lane road, I thought she was lost - a final metaphor. Obviously, I took it too literally.
The Wire was great and so was the Sopranos. They were very entertaining and kept you guessing. Six feet under makes you FEEL. thats powerful. Havent came across a show like this before or since.
Some people say that the sopranos or the wire is the best television show of all time. Those are great show in terms of writing, production value etc. but Six Feet Under is one of the most enlightening, passionate, provocative, painful and uplifting things of any kind.It challenges the audience to analyse the way they think of life and death not only of their loved ones but of themselves. it's one thing to make you think and another to make you feel, but to do both is an indescribable achievement
LA VERDAD ES QUE NO SE COMO DESCRIBIR LO QUE ESTA SERIE ME TRAJO ,PUES ME HIZO VER LA MUERTE DE DIFERENTE FORMA , Y EN VERDAD QUE CADA VEZ QUE VEO LE FINAL VUELVO A LLORAR .
OJALA MAS SERIES TUVIERAN EL MISMO TIPO DE INTENSIDAD¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
this series is more than a series, it's life. When you get it, you get what the expression ''meaning of life'' means... in a very subtle way. And that's the reason it touches to so many people. And I just can't describe how I was feeling first time I saw the ending... never felt like that in my entire life
If there's one thing I fear more than an early death, it's to stay alive long after all the rest of my family are gone. I know I should feel happy that Claire has a long life, but i just keep thinking how much she must have missed them all!! Her eyes at the end when she is reliving all her memories absolutely kills me, then you fade back 80 years to her hopeful young face and it breaks your heart all over again. Unrelentingly brilliant.
omg, u just put into words why i felt the way i did when we saw claire's ''hopeful young face''. It really reminds u how everything has an end... what was one day new, fresh, full of dreams and hopes, is now just a shadow coming to its end... Sry for being so pessimistic, but that's how i feel
Just brings tears? I have watched this ending so many times and yet I am a complete blubbering mess every single time. The best series ever ever ever, Alan Ball you are a genius.
I just watched the last episode on DVD, and right before the last scene it got frozen because there was a scratch on the disc even thought I bought it new and never used it!
@Edralis Thats how I felt, it was so painful to watch and feel their lifes up and downs, the meta-ness of the whole series is beatiful in and of itself, and I hope when I die I get to see my grandpa who died of cancer and who I never got to see go, this scene was just too much, I was bawling myself
I had the exact experience in the spring of 2004 moving from Toronto Canada to Minnesota USA right out of university. Life is beautiful and amazing, love the family you have, we are all family.
So yes I was an idiot, but I still love the show and will watch it, I have not ruined myself I will still enjoy the fantastic actors portraying incredible roles moving me emotionally every new episode i see, watching them dealing with issues that are somewhat still Taboo in our culture and deal with it in a moving and articulate way.so Yes i am an idiot but i
am glad i have found this series and am able to experience it even if i screwed up and watched the last 10 minutes.
@musicluver211213 No , you are not idiot, just a sensible human being...I've sen this series years ago an still I search for some episodes in you tube.
Yes, I may be an idiot for watching the ending before finishing the series, but it was driving me crazy, never had HBO back in the day and I love this series it is by far a masterpiece and dealt with many social issues of the time and also emotional and philosophical issues if the ages, I am buying the series and will watch them all and treasure them until the day i cease to exist on this planet. the acting was fantastic. I cried like a child at the ending and do at other episodes i see.
Joder qué final!!!!, no me canso de verlo. La serie que más gustado de todas las que he visto y con éste final, te deja un sabor agridulce... La 1ª vez que lo vi estuve llorando horas, por que refleionas, que realmente la vida es asi ¿?.
Bought the box set in the Spring and have just spent the last week watching all 5 series. This is the best TV series EVER. I cried SO much at the end!! Amazing - a must see. x
@albinoflavourdninjas I know your comment is from 3 years ago, but I read yours and felt compelled to respond. You watched the ending without watching the series first? Honestly, you ruined it for yourself. There is no way to completely understand the ending without having seen the previous episodes first! Go back and watch it, you won't be disappointed, and the ending will have so much more meaning after you have. Cheers. :)
Just started watching series recently and catching up i really wish i would not have watched this damn ending, it fit the show and was perfect but depressed the hell out of me.
@musicluver211213 Wait a minute, let me get this straight. You JUST started watching the series and you watched this video!? NO! You have to watch the whole series first! One of the reasons why this finale is so impacting is because you have followed these characters and their relationships and struggles from the beginning! You get emotionally attached. Then the end just kills you, I watched the finale at 3am a few yrs back and I was crying so hard I woke up my boyfriend I was so loud.
@PlanckEpoch OMG, that's the same for me!! I've watched the finale at almost 3am and i was crying so hard that i've woke up my girlfriend.. and she was like "are u kiddin' me?? Are u crying like that just for a tv show??" (she didn't watched it)
Just finished watching all five seasons. I thought the first season was great, the second season pretty good. From the third season and on, i felt it got really uninteresting. Cheap cliff-hangers, extremely unrealistic character development, and just far fetched writing in general. I must say that as a whole, i think this show is very overrated. It's not bad, but definately overrated.
The Sopranos, 24, The Wire, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Dexter, The Shield, Lost, and The West Wing are all great shows, but they don't come close to SFU. It's utter relatable story to all human beings is something that will never be matched.
My favorite show. Is it me or does nobody seem to mention it anymore ever since it ended? It seems like "The Wire" And "The Sopranos" get all the cult following...
I have just finished watching the whole five seasons and I cried at the end when I watched it today....so sad I have finished watching them all but a fantastic ending although sad
God this is the most touching ending to a show ever. What I like is that is shows that the series was just one small part of their lives, that it all went on. I started crying with Ruth's death, and then completely lost it when David sees Keith and dies. I miss this show so much!!!
what i would of liked, just to show the progression of time is when keith gets shot the robbers are using lazer guns just to show that its in the future.
I just finished to whole series, and i started to choke up when i saw Ruth dying, and i realized that when i saw the "1946-2025" i knew that they were going to show all the Fishers deaths.
The title of this episode was "Everybody's Waiting". The ending was nearly perfect. I believe the ending would have been "perfectly perfect" if everybody was waiting for Claire at the very end.
@GidaCarbonara OMG SO TRUE!!!! you need to write to allen ball and demand they film that last scene again and add it into a bonus dvd version, then air the entire series again with this newly ammended episode!!!
@GidaCarbonara In a way they were waiting. She was surrounded by their pictures at the end, all her memories of her loved ones. Perfectly fitting for Claire I think. :)
@muse001 I agree. I was depressed for days after I watched it. It really did something to me for some reason - I guess because I watched it from the beginning, I sort of felt like they were a part of my family, if that's not weird. I just loved this show SO much. I'm so thankful that I can still watch "David" on Dexter. :) Plus, I have this whole boxset so I can throw the DVD's in when I have a craving. :)
@kelaltieri yeah I have the boxset too. A good friend of mine made my day on my Birthday. Thanks for the wonderful reply. P.S unfortunately over here in Belgium we don't get the series 'Dexter'.
This really is the absolutely best series finale to any show that has ever existed; even if you don't believe that Six Feet Under was the best show ever (which it is pretty close to), it's hard to say that the last ten minutes aren't filled with extreme love and passion and pure unadulterated sorrow. The instant George starts crying, I freaking lose it. Every time. And, notice that one of Keith and David's sons is gay.
After finishing Six Feet Under, I don't think I'm capable of watching TV anymore. Nothing is ever going to amount. @hd25yuutube It makes me want to ugly cry thinking about it.
That bit in the beginning always gets me by surprise.

Cheers. :)

One of the best endings to a show period. It gets me every time.

Just started watching series recently and catching up i really wish i would not have watched this damn ending, it fit the show and was perfect but depressed the hell out of me.
musicluver211213 3 months ago
@musicluver211213 Wait a minute, let me get this straight. You JUST started watching the series and you watched this video!? NO! You have to watch the whole series first! One of the reasons why this finale is so impacting is because you have followed these characters and their relationships and struggles from the beginning! You get emotionally attached. Then the end just kills you, I watched the finale at 3am a few yrs back and I was crying so hard I woke up my boyfriend I was so loud.
PlanckEpoch 3 months ago
@PlanckEpoch OMG, that's the same for me!! I've watched the finale at almost 3am and i was crying so hard that i've woke up my girlfriend.. and she was like "are u kiddin' me?? Are u crying like that just for a tv show??" (she didn't watched it)
birraveritas 3 days ago
@musicluver211213 You're an idiot. You might as well just not bother wasting your time & start with another series. You ruined it for yourself...

1. Six Feet Under
The Sopranos, 24, The Wire, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Dexter, The Shield, Lost, and The West Wing are all great shows, but they don't come close to SFU. It's utter relatable story to all human beings is something that will never be matched.

Brenda's husband is Bradley Cooper! ... Im hoping.

My favorite show. Is it me or does nobody seem to mention it anymore ever since it ended? It seems like "The Wire" And "The Sopranos" get all the cult following...

They never showed what happen to Nate's daughters though

The guy that played Nate actually auditioned for the role of David.

I have just finished watching the whole five seasons and I cried at the end when I watched it today....so sad I have finished watching them all but a fantastic ending although sad
julieeke1971 4 months ago 2
God this is the most touching ending to a show ever. What I like is that is shows that the series was just one small part of their lives, that it all went on. I started crying with Ruth's death, and then completely lost it when David sees Keith and dies. I miss this show so much!!!

GidaCarbonara 4 months ago
@GidaCarbonara OMG SO TRUE!!!! you need to write to allen ball and demand they film that last scene again and add it into a bonus dvd version, then air the entire series again with this newly ammended episode!!!
shnglbot 4 months ago
@GidaCarbonara In a way they were waiting. She was surrounded by their pictures at the end, all her memories of her loved ones. Perfectly fitting for Claire I think. :)

I shall never get over this finale. It's so heart breaking, wonderful and so real xxxxx
muse001 4 months ago
@muse001 I agree. I was depressed for days after I watched it. It really did something to me for some reason - I guess because I watched it from the beginning, I sort of felt like they were a part of my family, if that's not weird. I just loved this show SO much. I'm so thankful that I can still watch "David" on Dexter. :) Plus, I have this whole boxset so I can throw the DVD's in when I have a craving. :)
kelaltieri 4 months ago
@kelaltieri yeah I have the boxset too. A good friend of mine made my day on my Birthday. Thanks for the wonderful reply. P.S unfortunately over here in Belgium we don't get the series 'Dexter'.

chemlight82 4 months ago 3
This really is the absolutely best series finale to any show that has ever existed; even if you don't believe that Six Feet Under was the best show ever (which it is pretty close to), it's hard to say that the last ten minutes aren't filled with extreme love and passion and pure unadulterated sorrow. The instant George starts crying, I freaking lose it. Every time. And, notice that one of Keith and David's sons is gay.
