Those of us who are emotionally abused probably dont deal with what i deal with. I am 14. My mother emotionally abuses and physically abuses me and my dad. we have lived this way for years. i have been repeatedly beaten for things i havent done. I come home everynight and get yelled at just for coming in the door wrong. My mother also happens to drink and it doesnt help. Im just looking for hope and understanding from someone. All this happens because i cant get away from her.

I didnt realise i was being abused until recently, mentally & emotionally by my ex. I just felt like killing myself cause i felt I couldnt live without him, even though he was hurting me. Threatening to leave me, tried chocking me, calling me names then saying he loves me. I was on the floor in extreme tears pulling out my hair over dosing...on friday he dumped me, im tryna cope, i PRAY every night for God to help me stay away, help me breathe without him and let go, 1 year torture is enough!

Yep get some of these from my Dad and my sister. Ive only just realised I had to cut them out completely after final warnings I issued. If they dont have respect for you, show them you have respect for yourself by taking the high ground and behaving accordingly. Step up your game, if they cant keep up & dont want civility air kisses and some order at the very least, let them go.Maintain respectful boundaries, or your own inner respect and self worth become lost in the fog of emotion.

@Raybanmonster Same, story. My sister was worse then my Dad. The sad part is my Dad does care but goes about it the wrong way. It's easier to cut them out of your life. My sister tried to get me to bail out on my best friends wedding to babysit her cats so she can go on another vacation a month after her last one. I'm 26 and it took me over 10 years to finally admit to my self. Not feeling useless and weak everyday really helps when you are trying to get a girlfriend.

Yep, agreed. It took me 30 yrs before I started to realise this nonsense was going around in circles, partly because I was always passionate to make everyone feel better given my emotionally abusive and occasionally physical ly abusive Father from very young. I gave 5 years to my sister, paid for cars monthly, her kids education, weekly food, etc only to suffer random stabbing to face ( small scar now) and she nevr came to see me, called me or take my mum to see me. Men are emotionally abused more than women. It's socially acceptable for men to be the butt of jokes, for men to refer to the woman as "the boss", for men to have no say in the running of the home, for men to have no say in how the household income is spent.

That said ... I've no idea what to do about it.
