This guy wasted a lot of the pepper, The white membrane (called the uterus, by the way) is not so bitter that you have to remove that much of the good pepper to get rid of most of it. And, is easier to cut the pepper in half except for the stem end, pull the halves apart and then pull of the stem and seed ball from whichever half retains it. Cut the halves in half and proceed the way he does it. This is kindergarten level chef skills folks!
that works too, but i prefer cutting it like he does in the start, cause you only lose a few % more pepper than if you halve it and remove the insides, but i find it to take half as much time to do it like this guy does because it's a lot, lot easier to cut if you don't have to cut through all the curves. But i don't remove all the white stuff, since it does indeed seem unnecessary and time wasting
This guy is a real pro.

Doesn't he look like Mathew Broderick and Tom Hanks had a kid? LOL

I must be in the minority then. I eat bell peppers almost whole. In fact I usually just cut them in half and remove the seeds, add some tuna and eat.

Definitely gonna do this with my chili next time I make it.

Seems like a lot of the pepper is wasted.
iheartrainbows88 4 years ago
The emphasis on removing the white membrane tells you why. It's not really tasty at all, unless you like bitter things.
