I was always a "BIG""BIG" Deltic fan all the way since my first ever ride behind one 55003 Meld way back in 1975.However I was recently waiting at Northallerton on a great Summers
day a few Weeks ago.The Deltics were fast however these 91s and Virgin Voyagers do beat the old Girls into fits.Also the Deltics were described by the then chief Mechanical engineer as being a "Maintenance Menace" while the plastic new stuff just gets on with the Job.
I still love the 55s but progress is it.

What exactly is making that whirring noise just before the locomotive moves off? Is it an engine component, or perhaps just a cooling fan?

The 225 horns (both the 91's and the DVT's) are the best to be heard on the whole of the network.

The last one is how they SHOULD sound lol. Some times with 91s you can't tell which is high and which is low!

well Carl is behind the loco and horn and you do have the roar from the loco which does drawn out the sound of the horn ;)
