I was running pretty late that day, but I just managed to get there in time to see the lanc. I was about to head back to my car when I heard two more merlins roaring over the water, so I legged it back to my view point and just caught the arse ends of the spit and huri, which was a nice surprise as I thought it was just going to be the lanc that day.
I was there. Wouldn't have missed it for the world. Absoloutely stunning performance. Wanted to take my nan to see it but she's not able to walk too well.
Luckily for her the Lancaster flew over the village that morning so she saw it! :D
I live in NZ now, i was ta the 30th anniversary as a 7 year old boy and was lucky enough to be in the UK on holiday when this happened........it gave me shivers down my spine to see and hear it all again...magic memories..i have added my footage too
WWII annihilated our economy, but it bought unprecedented peace to Western Europe which is now an example to the world. As far as aircraft go, the Eurofighter Typhoon is the first proper fighter for the RAF since the Lightning, and in the tradition of the Spitfire it's agile, lethal and highly adaptable. We still have a lot to be proud about!
Truely there is a lot of good in the country but the nation needs to get it's fingure out or be left behind by the rest of the world. The cost of WWII was emense. Ultimately those who lose are the winners because it's the "winner" who has to pay for the rebuilding of the country that lost.
Saw the actual Lancaster bomber go over my back garden in South-East Derbyshire last Saturday (10th May) and it was terrific! Couldn't believe how low the thing was; I could see the glass, the gun turret and everything - it couldn't have been more than 700 feet in the air.
I was there on the dam, recording away on my new phone/cam... All rubbish! Got a good little video clip of the Dak going over I'll be posting once I figure this damn thing out...

However was watching sky news today, when the broadcaster red the following headlines "THE DAMS IS CHINA THAT HAVE STAYED STRONG HAVE KEPT POWER GOING TO AID THE AID WORKERS THERE, NEXT THE 65th ANIVERSARY OF THE SUCSEFULL DAMBUSTERS RAID ON THREE DAMS OVER OCCPIED EUROPE" how ironic and kind of funny

Excellent footage mate, i was there to see that myself today! Brilliant, im glad to see you caught the Tornado, it's a shame you missed the Two GR4's though. Saying that, i did too lmao. They were really quick!
I was caught between photographing one run, then videoing the next. As you say, the GR4's didn't half come along quickly, but I got a shot with the Lanc & a Tornado ;-). Photos will be on the web site tomorrow as I'm now knackered having spent the night sleeping in the car!
flying at 60ft how the hell any of them got out alive is beyond me.upmost respect to guy gibson and his boys true british hero's.

Can you imagine what it must have like to look up and see 1000 of these bombers or transports fly over?
There are many recreated Spitifires flying where I live in the Western US.

Well if you'd stayed around you'd have also seen the Dakota along with 2 Tornado's from the current Dambuster squadron. Was a memorable day.
