Jerry G. (Bishop), prior to this gig, was a D.J. for WIXY 1260 AM in Cleveland Ohio. His character Svengoolie is a very close copy of a character that was originated by Ernie Anderson, named Ghoulardi, on WJW-TV 8 in Cleveland. Both were on the air in Cleveland about the same time frame. Ernie later went on to Hollywood to become the announcer for the Carol Burnett Show, and join his close friend, Tim Conway, who began working with Carol after his stint on McHale's Navy as Ensign Parker.
