odp, there was a little half uppercut, half right hook landed at 5:57 that moved whitaker back a bit. i don't know if i'd say he was "stunned" but it was a good short punch. i do think it was a better punch than the more obvious straight right at 5:34
is it just me, or did pendleton nail whitaker with a right hook at 5:57 that stunned him? ive never really seen whitaker get hit because he is so slick, but pendleton really did a great job against such a great defensive wizard :)
Freddie Pendleton: Patron Saint of fighters with bad records. He won a world title a few years after this. How about that? From .500 fighter to world champ. The thing about matching your top-ranked fighter with a "bum" who has 15 wins and 15 losses is that that "bum" might be on a 10-fight winning streak.
although he had a at least half as many losses as wins, freddie pendelton was a tought fighter and did better then 9 out of every 10 fighters pernell had fought.
Whitaker getting hit more than usual by the always-dangerous Pendleton. Pretty good fight.

Whitaker got hit, but as he's shown before (especially late in his career) he had a decent chin when he did get hit.
