  • wow what a training lol

  • I came on the job in 89 and trained on Ward's Island. I liked Ward's Island better

than Floyd Bennett Field. At least if it rained, we were able to train under the highway so we could stay dry.

  • cold as a mother fucker out there in the winter

  • we do that to cars in the street blocking garbage stops too

  • Bull shit they wanted to change the tire had no jack so they used the front end loader to lift it but as we all know some of these guys are not to smart lol!

  • I'm a retired nyc sanitation worker. That is at Floyd Bennett Field Brooklyn. They had me operate that front end loader to smash a whole bunch of boats that were abandoned or seized in drug deals. after smashing the boats I would have to seperate the fuel tanks

and put them aside. There was this big 40 ft

cabin cruiser I had to smash so I drove 100 feet to the other side of the tarmac, turned around got the front end loader up to 40 mph

and when I rammed the boat, BOOM!! What a rush!

  • I assuming you were wearing your seat belt. I've hit curbs during snow in the front end loader. Eating a windshield is not fun!

  • lmfaoo !

  • I remember those from childhood days. They were made from the Crane Carrier Corporation. I would know when they were on the block when you would hear the 6-71 Detroit Diesel motor screaming while the compactor ran. Ah man, those were the days.

  • The chassis was made by crane or the body was made by crane? Still trying to figure out who all build's garbage truck bodies for DSNY.

  • The chassis.

  • the chassis is mack and the body is mcnielus

  • Chassis/cab Crane Carrier - Body Heil

  • Chassis were crane carrier for a while. Now Macks. Mack changed over from the MR to the terra pro.

Last I heard crane carrier was trying to get back on the bid but they're like $120,000+

  • The bodies are a modified formula 5000 heil with packing controls on both sides of the hopper as well some other features.

All the body manufacturers go after the DSNY bid. they were trying mcneilus out for a while to see if they would be eligible to bid. DSNY puts out their bid spec, body manufacturers give DSNY one to try, then if it is approved, they are eligible to bid.

  • Last I heard McNeilus and Chagnon (canadian company) were trying to go after it. There are also some 4000s in the fleet and some leaches that came about when they did remounts on several older crane chassis.

  • Take that, trash truck!

  • Your partner just got run over by a car. You have him "beat", help him, he has you "beat", you didnt see anything. Welcome to Dept. Of Sanitation.

  • So true, haha!

  • floyd bennett field was a cold mother you know what in the winter during my training

  • Go Howie!!!

  • look at that power!

  • So what's the deal really? is it rescue training "how to untilt a truck" or preparing for spare part picking or...?

  • It's for tow truck training. The guy was setting up the truck.

  • I bet you that was Mo Ragusa in the FEL.....moron behind the wheel, secure.

  • Modega baby....Mo i need some gloves! lol
