sometimes a nice clean kickflip is better than a crappy technical trick tho, its not about the names of the tricks its about the creativity. sometimes i would rather watch louie barletta skate on a huge rock than some guy doing some crazy technical trick down a 10 stair. its personal preference and that is the beauty of skateboarding. there is no right and there is no wrong.

Children, especially early childhood, fear nothing. They believe all is right with the world. They dream, have imagination and look forward to life. Somewhere along the way, we forget how to love. You know... Definite legend. I have liked skateboarding for as long as I can remember, it was Tony Hawk got me inspired first, then I saw Rodney and was very impressed so got into skateboarding more. I am not great at skateboarding, but as Rodney says, its about having fun and you shouldn't take it to seriously.

Tony Hawk got into skating like anyone else and back then vert skating was the only type of skating other than freestyle, which yes,Rodney dominated. But Tony merely innovated and progressed vert while inventing a bag of tricks. Mullen would never have been a street skater were it not for Mike Ternasky, the old owner of Plan B. Neither created a style, both innovated the shit out of skating

Most amazing skater ever at skill and at heart, i see punk skaters and i hate it but then i see Rodney Mullen and i love it, mullen could be terrible at skating (impossible) and he would still be my favorite skater and the best role model you could ever find.

Definite legend. I have liked skateboarding for as long as I can remember, it was Tony Hawk got me inspired first, then I saw Rodney and was very impressed so got into skateboarding more. I am not great at skateboarding, but as Rodney says, its about having fun and you shouldn't take it to seriously.

This is so true. Contests are fun, but that shouldn't take over your skating life. Skating isn't about fame, fortune, or popularity. The point of skating is to have fun, and enjoy it while you can, before you grow old, and can't do stuff like that anymore. Never forget why you skate: Fun.

Man I'd love to just spend 4 hours with Rodney! What a cool guy! Rise, the undisputed greatest trick Inventor and quite likely the greatest skater ever, and to stop and realize that the accolades fade and the applause dies down. I love skating! Btw. @max432156 although they did both help to push those two aspects of skating, thats really not true at all. Tony Hawk got into skating like anyone else and back then vert skating was the only type of skating other than freestyle, which yes,Rodney dominated. But Tony merely innovated and progressed vert while inventing a bag of tricks. Mullen would never have been a street skater were it not for Mike Ternasky, the old owner of Plan B. Neither created a style, both innovated the shit out of skating

you can take the message that contests or money or recognition isnt important at all that it is the true love of doing something and apply that to almost anything. im happy to say i have something like that, its not skateboarding, althought i do love to skating but its guitar, i love guitar
