  • Id have to disagree Alice, on the latest album mostly though. Atomic bomb and ATYCLB were awesome.

  • 1981 this album came out....

  • I was 14 when this song was on the radio, and I appreciate it so much more today. One of those songs that to me is angelical, u don't want it to end, cause you'll have to touch the ground again. Thanks to whom ever posted it.

  • I used to race home to catch this on countdown !! i had the biggest crush on Bono then

  • @johnwaitesflame I STILLLLLLL have a crush on Bono!! He just get better with age!

  • Kinda sad that this Video has only 80,000 plus views.

Simple for today but that's not all that really matters with this band.

So glad I can come here and watch it whenever I feel like.

One of the Best Bands ever!!

  • I liked the bono of then, he looked an 80's gangmember who was dragged of the streets and put on stage, and turned out to have this fucking beautifull voice

  • I grew up watching U2 on MTV back in the early 80's... Its hard to believe they still put out that quality of music back then and it still carries on today !!

  • Actually, October and Gloria where released in 1981. Thanks

    for the upload Mr. Monfillo.

  • bono's hair is funny

  • this is kick ass megaman level music

  • Muito som!!! \o/ Gloooooriaaa \o/

  • Adam used to be an awesome bassist.

  • the band that matters most, maybe even the only band that matters

  • essa é de arrepiar brother , gloriaaaaaaaaaaa . abraçosss

  • The best of this video is the last sentence saying: "If you believe in something..........believe in u2"

    :'D

  • I like U2s old music not the new crap!!!

  • @TheRisingDead87 I hope by 'new crap' you don't mean U2s new music because I assure you they are just as amazing as they were back then. But if you are talking about the new hip-hop/rap music of today then I totally agree.

  • When I first saw this video, I thought Bono looked like John Cougar (now Mellencamp).

  • Just an FYI for SolanoEastWood: The song "Gloria" and the record "October" were both released in 1981 as was this video and not 1983.

Thanks for downloading though! Great memories!

  • the best song of the album

  • It's hard for me to admit but u2 did kick a little bit o ass

  • Comment removed

  • We will never see bands like this again. the music culture of today is too weak to produce a band like this

  • EPIC

  • When U2 emerged in the early 80's, there was no one quite like them. Their older music, hit a chord deep and resaonated within. I remember when Boy album was released, I was out at the record shops buying their album... wow that was eons ago....

  • terrible

  • @bettyboopdenormandie If you don't like it, why are you even here? ._.

  • All the old ones are the best and remind me of younger days xxx

  • MTV Ruled Back Then, Now It Sucks!!

  • @wickedgiggler2011 Try BroccoliTV

  • LIKE B'S HAIR COLOR! LIGHT BROWN.. GOD KNOWS IM A SUCKER FOR THE BROWN HEADS

  • Can someone translate the Latin? Thanks.

  • @JanetEsq

    i try

gloria in te domine = glory in you, Lord

gloria , exultate = glory, (you can) exult

    or something like that...

  • this is the begining of U2, beautiful. :)

  • he and sting sound kind of similar during this time wuddup

  • Scaping from classes, mousse hairstyle, tigh jeans and and my first boyfriend. That's what U2 represented from me in those days: harmonies of youth!!

  • I try to sing this song

    I...I try to stand up

But I can't find my feet

I try, I try to speak up

But only in you I'm complete

    Gloria...in te domine

    Gloria...exultate

    Gloria...Gloria

    Oh Lord, loosen my lips

  • okay sexys!

  • yeah the best band!!!!!!!! U2!!!!!!!!!!

  • I fuching love this song!!

  • the only good that Religion has ever done for this world is the inspiration it gave to art and music

  • @Zennofobic What great insight. Yep, just art and music. Trust me, religion gets better as you get older.

  • @Yosemite25 you mean it gets better as in i'll tolerate it better or it gets better because i'll be old and sick and a desperate fool

  • @Zennofobic

I guess Gandhi never took anything form his religion, right? And I'm sure all the humanitarian effort from people who were inspired by religion were nothign too, yeah? I mean, if it hasn't affected your life in a great way, that means no one else has benefited, right?

It's pretty easy to say negative things about religion. I agree a lot of bad has come b/c religion, but don't be a fool and say it has only done a few good things. Lean to think deeper than your own bias.

  • @Gright only a fool would try and stack up the good done by religion against all the evil that's been done in it's name. What I know about religion and how it's affected my life is greater and deeper than you know... but then again, judged by your statement we already know that you don't know much at all.

  • Thanks U2 for all you have brought to my life. Gloria rocks! x

    Gloria...exultate

    Gloria...Gloria

  • ;D Gloria

  • October is my personal favorite U2 album from their early period. It's lyrical content is much deeper than Boy and more personal than War. Several tracks on October foreshadow similar melodies on Unforgettable Fire and Joshua Tree. Some of those tracks are October, Scarlet, Tomorrow, I Threw a Brick Threw a Window, and Stranger in a Strange Land. In many ways, U2's second album represents a maturing that might've happened too fast after the relative lightness of their debut album.

  • GREAT

  • the #1 pop band from the 80`s

  • i don't know how adam didn't get mad for having his bass solo cut.......

  • and some people still ask why are they the greatest Band ever

  • the only good song from the original MTV in 1979

  • I used to watch mtv all the time to see this video back in 1981. there was just something different about this band back then from all that was going on in the music scene. No one ever imagined back then what the future held for this band. lol

  • good post. i think you speak for hundreds of thousands of us. U2 has this inherently intangible aura that you either get or you don't get. That's really what set them apart. It's in their music, photos, and album cover art. This video on mtv back in 1981 is where I discovered them. Next video I recall from them was Two Hearts Beat As One.

  • @gscgold I watched them and listened to their music and KNEW they would make it this far just because they were different, passionate musicians. Air played in Hawaii and no one took them that serious here as much as I did back then. I still do. Long live U2!

  • This is the song that hooked me. I saw this video when MTV was still new (and actually showing music videos!). I ran out and found "Boy" and then "October". U2 has done a lot of great stuff since, but I'm afraid they've lost their writing edge. "No Line On The Horizon" is really disappointing. Where's the fire boys??

  • This track was released as a single in the UK in October 1981 and reached number 55. It's from their second album "October" which was also released in October 1981 and got to number 11 in the UK album charts when released. It is a very underated U2 album.

  • Underrated by critics.... any U2 fan knows that October is the root of U2 through and through. And one of their finest!!!

  • The best song from the best band in the history of rock.

  • @sfumato1002 i luv this song and old school U2 but lets go that far dude. lol

  • @sfumato1002 never

  • 1981.

  • 1982 not 1983
