I was 14 when this song was on the radio, and I appreciate it so much more today. One of those songs that to me is angelical, u don't want it to end, cause you'll have to touch the ground again. Thanks to whom ever posted it.
I liked the bono of then, he looked an 80's gangmember who was dragged of the streets and put on stage, and turned out to have this fucking beautifull voice
I grew up watching U2 on MTV back in the early 80's... Its hard to believe they still put out that quality of music back then and it still carries on today !!
No one's probably gonna read this, but I’ll say it anyway cuz I feel at least 1 person will. I'm a young designer and graffiti artist, I know there's a million out there but I feel like my art has a unique individual style.
If you just take a min and give me a chance I'll make you a believer. I would love nothing more than to have a loyal following on youtube. If anyone who reads this could press the "THUMBS UP" others will see it. Just a simple button push will make a huge difference.

@TheRisingDead87 I hope by 'new crap' you don't mean U2s new music because I assure you they are just as amazing as they were back then. But if you are talking about the new hip-hop/rap music of today then I totally agree.
Que de souvenirs... C'était l'époque où Bono était encore beaucoup plus un artiste qu'un homme d'affaires, à l'époque où U2 faisait encore de la bonne musique... Les temps ont bien changé :-(
When U2 emerged in the early 80's, there was no one quite like them. Their older music, hit a chord deep and resaonated within. I remember when Boy album was released, I was out at the record shops buying their album... wow that was eons ago....

I guess Gandhi never took anything form his religion, right? And I'm sure all the humanitarian effort from people who were inspired by religion were nothign too, yeah? I mean, if it hasn't affected your life in a great way, that means no one else has benefited, right?
It's pretty easy to say negative things about religion. I agree a lot of bad has come b/c religion, but don't be a fool and say it has only done a few good things. Lean to think deeper than your own bias.
@Gright only a fool would try and stack up the good done by religion against all the evil that's been done in it's name. What I know about religion and how it's affected my life is greater and deeper than you know... but then again, judged by your statement we already know that you don't know much at all.
October is my personal favorite U2 album from their early period. It's lyrical content is much deeper than Boy and more personal than War. Several tracks on October foreshadow similar melodies on Unforgettable Fire and Joshua Tree. Some of those tracks are October, Scarlet, Tomorrow, I Threw a Brick Threw a Window, and Stranger in a Strange Land. In many ways, U2's second album represents a maturing that might've happened too fast after the relative lightness of their debut album.
I used to watch mtv all the time to see this video back in 1981. there was just something different about this band back then from all that was going on in the music scene. No one ever imagined back then what the future held for this band. lol
good post. i think you speak for hundreds of thousands of us. U2 has this inherently intangible aura that you either get or you don't get. That's really what set them apart. It's in their music, photos, and album cover art. This video on mtv back in 1981 is where I discovered them. Next video I recall from them was Two Hearts Beat As One.
@gscgold I watched them and listened to their music and KNEW they would make it this far just because they were different, passionate musicians. Air played in Hawaii and no one took them that serious here as much as I did back then. I still do. Long live U2!
This is the song that hooked me. I saw this video when MTV was still new (and actually showing music videos!). I ran out and found "Boy" and then "October". U2 has done a lot of great stuff since, but I'm afraid they've lost their writing edge. "No Line On The Horizon" is really disappointing. Where's the fire boys??
This track was released as a single in the UK in October 1981 and reached number 55. It's from their second album "October" which was also released in October 1981 and got to number 11 in the UK album charts when released. It is a very underated U2 album.
Id have to disagree Alice, on the latest album mostly though. Atomic bomb and ATYCLB were awesome.

Kinda sad that this Video has only 80,000 plus views.
Simple for today but that's not all that really matters with this band.
So glad I can come here and watch it whenever I feel like.

Como que este video ha sido patrocinado por miguel solano? No entiendo eso. No es de 1983 sino de 1981, del Album October, segundo album de la banda.

Just an FYI for SolanoEastWood: The song "Gloria" and the record "October" were both released in 1981 as was this video and not 1983.
Thanks for downloading though! Great memories!
