Chicos, as for the latino americano, hispano americano issue; both of the terms are correct. Latino is the origin of our language, castillian, catalan, gallego, portugues, fraces, italiano, romanian. The term hispanic comes hispano which is the same as spanish. So the term hispano americano would be a person which has a spanish background or a mix of native american and spanish, born in America of course.

@alexxxa72 If you were born anywhere in the American continent and you have any Spanish heritage, than you are a Hispano Americano (of spanish background, but born in America) Hispanic simple means spanish in Latin. Latino is referred to a any person who was born in any country (wether in Europe or America) that speaks any of the Latin based languages (castillian or Spanish, galician, catalan, portuguese, italian, french or romanian)

My husband is irish decent born in USA and speaks spanish. does that make him Latino? NOT AT ALL!!! your wrong! Theres people that I know that are born in the USA with Spanish decent from Spain and speak no Spanish. Are they not Spanish because they dont speak spanish? No. the language you speak doesn't label your heritage.

takenbythesky, you have a confusion. Latins do not exist in the present, but the Latin language gave origin to the current Romance languages: French, Italian, Romanian, Basque, Catalan, and Castilian, among others. What you know as Spanish, is actually Castilian.
