The FIRST year of a calendar should not be called the "year zero," because if the FIRST year were the "year ZERO" then the SECOND year would be the year ONE! Why would anybody call the SECOND year the year ONE? It should be called the year TWO.
The first millennium began on January 1, 1 A.D. and ended on December 31, 1000. The second millennium began on January 1, 1001 and ended on December 31, 2000 (not 1999). The third millennium began on January 1, 2001 (not 2000) and will end on December 31, 3000. etc.
There is no such thing as a "year zero." It did not take Jesus an entire year to be born! The traditional date of Jesus' birth is December 25, 1 B.C., which is only a week before January 1, 1 A.D. (the start of the Christian Era). Of course, it would have made more sense for the makers of the calendar to have made Christmas the first day of the year instead of choosing a day that is one week after Christmas, but they were right in not including a "0th year."
I'll say this to everyone I am one of those millenium child because I was born in 2000 (19th of may) its to bad I did not experience the ultimate coundown to 2000 you know what I wish I was born in oh.. let say 1998

I was almost 4 years old but I have a tape of my dad on the phone joking around saying "We're still alive." and my Grandpa said "The world isn't over!" the first thing of the New Year.
There was an event much like this one I went to one time back in 2002!! No joke. It was Duke Vs. Wake Forest, and Wake Forest beat Duke in Basketball at the LJVM Coliseum. No, it wasn't like this event people wise. However, as far as people cheering goes, yes. People were cheering as loud as The New Millennium!! Seriously.
i was there. everybody thought the ball was gonna explode at midnight...but afterwards, everybody partied til at least 3 am on the square. no one wanted to leave.
if only they know what would happen in the following years, 9/11, a war, thousands of deaths, a bad economy making ppl lose jobs, a horrible water shortage in africa, riots in london, syria, middleeast. and more.
WTF wasn't everyone scared on the countdown because of y2k? I remember friends and family and some others bought food and supplies. And they weren't happy at the countdown. I was 6 at the time
the dawn of the collapse of america...it breaks my heart...this was before the national security agency had everyone locked in pins and we could actually have backpacks and cellphones......the good ol days...
@XTrevvion Lol. I was like 3 and I actually wanted to go to bed, but my parents made me stay up cause they said there will never be anything like this again. Now i'm glad they made me stay!

@wrestlemania957 I don't want to get into the discussion of when the millenium began because people have different views and it is still being debated. You said it was the best year ever and I don't remember shit so sux for me
@wrestlemania957 not to me, it was cross of the milenium, that's like fucking huge to me, we're all very extremly lucky because it's not just cross year, nor cross decade, but it was cross millenium, only like 2 generations of people get to celebrate that since AD. and you said it was the best year eva and sux for people who missed the year, so yeah i don't remember shit so sux for me
@wrestlemania957 damn i was 10 i dont remeber any of this!!!!!!!! but also somthing bad happened to my brother on that day..... right before the countdown the fireworks blew up right on his chest..... he dided right there in times sqaure to this day i will never forget him!!!!!

Anybody know what song was played after Kenny G's Millennium edition of Auld Lang Syne? I like the sound of it, but don't know what the song is. Can anybody help???
Ok why do you say that that the years 2000 and forward are getting worst? I think 2000 to 2010 are the beat years especailly in technology back on the 90s computures was a big deal for everyone now look at it we got the iPhone, xbox360, PS3 etc
@TheLighting564 it's funny because i look at it at a completely different point of view. I don't think we are supposed to be as interconnected as we are today with technology. It does have its pros and cons. I miss the times that people actually had to TALK to each other face to face to know what was going on in each other's lives. relationships seemed more genuine. it's amazing how technology has progressed but i think the way we interact with each other now has actually suffered.
havent seen anything good since 90s i mean 90s we're good we hope the 2000s would be better but every year is getting worse and worse and thats not nice thats freakin bad the now generation sux dude im tellin you they are dumb i mean im 17 years old and i can see that they are dumb brainless kids
Man, I wish I can remember the 2000 celebrations and I was born in '92. Now 10 years later, we are still in the 4th millenium, 21st century, and a new decade. Boy time goes by pretty quick.

Man, I wish I can remember the 2000 celebrations and I was born in '92. Now 10 years later, we are still in the 4th millenium, 21st century, and a new decade. Boy time goes by pretty quick.
