I think Kobe is overrated too in the sense that people claim he is possibly the greatest ever, and I hate him because he is a ball hog. But that doesnt change that he is one of the best offensive players in the league. Bruce Bowen was the best on-ball defender of his time, and if the NBA weren't so biased towards big men, Bruce would've won a couple of DPOY awards. I think Kobe relished the challenge from Bruce and there was a mutual respect. Bruce used to punk the shit out of guys like Ray Allen, but with Kobe, it was straight respect - no funny stuff. Bowtie Bruce is one of the greatest defenders of all-time, in my humble. Big Laker fan here..
