you are releasing that ball WAY too late. you need to be letting go of the ball as the receiver begins his turn around. When you hit it right, he can snag the ball, and still keep momentum to actuall peel out in the flat and take it up the sideline. That's the point of the curl route.

- also, when thrown correctly, the DB will be rushing back after he falls for the turn around, and when your WR takes it to the sideline, you can blow right past him, leaving one man to beat.
