  • go-go gadget side ways wheels.

  • I dont want that happening to me, but I know a few guys who I could take on to a ride, and accidently forget the child locks on to doors :D:D:D

  • Uhhhhhhh

  • damn

  • Thickos find him entertaining and witty...

  • ok now that's just fucken strange put Stevie wonder in the car and park it on the tracks he wouldn't have a fucking clue what's going on he's fucking blind for fuck sake hahaha

  • Ok you have convinced me, I will never park my car on a train crossing.

  • Why are they telling people to wear a high visibility jacket? They should just tell people not to cross when a train is coming. One of those jackets won't stop the train!

  • @Mrvideosandgames ...yet ^^

  • @Mrvideosandgames

You also need to wear two hard hats and safety goggles in addition to the HVJ.

  • What??? Yeah, like wearing a coloful jacket is going to stop the train! Stupid!!!!!

  • @juandavidguerrero1 Do you know what a JOKE is?

  • @juandavidguerrero1 You're a mentally challanged individual

  • why two helmets?

  • @omacoto2jam For fun. :P

  • 3:15 car is like " see you on the next station!!"

  • 2:44 DID SOMEONE TOOK HIM OFF THE RAIL?

  • 4:18 no jeremy, the lesson of this exercise is never try to beat the train to the crossing. a high visibility jacket doesn't stop the train from hitting you.

  • @trainguy3985 it's a parody of those typical safety messages with jeremy's usual sarcasm.

  • @trainguy3985 Ummm, it's called subtle, ironic humour.

  • @trainguy3985 Are you a moron?

  • The jacket helps the train see you

  • The snail was on the track the train was not

  • not sure what the jacket has to do with it though

  • @Graham987654 Nothing you could have a bright orange car and the train would still not stop its top gear you know what their like they were just showing you what can happen if you jump the lights at the level crossing and to all you lot in the sates in the uk we drive on the left not the right

  • @bigchris1123 i know you drive on the left, im canadian, not ignorant american, i get that it is top gear, as an employee of the railroad i'm just glad someone is passing the message along that people should not try to outrun trains

  • @Graham987654 I will let you off then because your Canadian I love Canada and all he people yes your right never try to outrun a train you will lose

  • @bigchris1123 I appreciate that eh, I'm liking Canada too, never been to the UK though it is on my list, closest i've been is i flew over it on my way to Prague then St. Petersburg

  • But what happened with the snail which was on the rail? Have you rescued it?

  • Lol. Thats funny.

  • For once, Top Gear is actually making a serious point. If you jump a level crossing, you risk that happening. The train driver wouldn't have a cat in Hell's chance of stopping in time.

  • Reliant robin lol

  • over here (in america...or at least Texas idk about the other states) we load trains up so much that for one to stop from 60mph it can take up to 2 miles. :)

  • @junkey55 our typical trains travel at 120mph. some with over 8 carriages. it takes up to 4 miles for them to slow down and stop

  • @sony519730 is that passenger service?, our passenger trains (in Canada) go only 90-95 MPH, freight service is limited to 60-65 MPH but will carry up to 20,000 tons

  • Moral of the story, always wear your safety jacket, hahaha! Intense crash, nobody could survive that.

  • @Videokeizah Just shut up and if your trying to insult someone use something manlier than wanker

  • structural integrety completely blown apart.

  • Did the snail survive :<

  • Is that car red or blue?

  • what a wrec!

  • what an unlucky poor snail 2:44

  • THAT'S TOAST............ THAT'S BAD...........

  • 135 people have a renault espace :P

  • @Made2killVidz i have XD But i like this video, Haahahahaha.

  • @TheAsimoKid Erm because we USE mphs

  • @MrClassicDoctorWho I and apparently that guy always thought that since you used the metric system for some things, you used it for everything... In all seriousness, why do you use metric weights and not metric distances?

  • The British version of Top Gear is the perfect blend of motors and british comedy

  • Couldn't think of what it would be like to clean up an accident like that, with someone actually dead in the car :(

  • 2:18 2 helmets lol

  • That jacket? Really? I hope he is being sarcastic because, if not, he sounds like a complete dumbass.

  • @TheKneepain of course he's being sarcastic..have you never seen Top Gear? Jeremy Clarkson is a comic genius and Top Gear is one of the most entertaining shows out there

  • it looks to me like they are ALL driving on the wrong side of the road

  • @graverobber35 seriously ??? no way you dont way. maybe thats because in the UK we drive on the left

  • @graverobber35 Yea LOL :P im dutch so we drive on the other side

  • Why did he say miles per hour in Britain?

  • what a big crash

  • yeah trains take forever to stop no jacket will save you

  • The movie unstoppable in 40 seconds

  • why do train horns that arent from america sound like sh!t? in the us a reflective jacket from the uk will get you mugged and kicked in the teeth on the metrolink traks and get the ''rubbish'' punched out of you ,stupid f^ckers.

  • @Evansville64 Yet another frustrated wanker from the US of A getting angry for nothing on youtube. What's new...

  • @Evansville64 Saying your fellow citizens will steal from you and cause you physical harm because of what you wear is NOT something to be proud of. Quite the opposite in-fact. It's something to be extremely embarrassed and disgusted about. You also missed the whole joke. Maybe it's a cultural thing, or maybe it's just your personal lack of a sense of humour. I won't hold it against you though, you have enough to worry about with the potential to be mugged for wearing the wrong thing.

  • @Evansville64 most diesels in britain have shrill, dissonant sounding multi-tone horns to get your attention and say "GET THE BLOODY HELL OUT OF MY WAY"

  • IS THE SNAIL OK!!!? 2:42

  • most driving accidents in britain are caused by people who are not from the uk

  • what class is that diesel

  • Comment removed

  • @FLYTRAP47 Class 31

  • @mildrew38 thanx bro

by the way how do you know

  • Taking out the humor, there is a serious message in this video, you try and jump a crossing and the train hits you, the train is not going to come off second best.

Just think about the driver ok? Most train drivers who hit and kill someone don't come back to work and have to undergo pyschological counselling to deal with the trauma

  • that espace got pwned

  • @3:00 is that a class 47 behind the 31 ?

  • easy put double gates on so they can't over take

  • 2:49 as the horn blasted, the train started slowing...

  • @CTTV101 If you had noticed there was a stop board for the class 31 doing the pushing to stop at thats why the deadweight coasting 31 slowed up, and it certainly was not doing 70 or so like Clarkson claimed probably 50 - 60 at the time NR repaired the track in a weekend

  • I love how many idiots there are in the comments who took the high visibility jacket thing seriously...

  • How was that snail on the tracks

  • Only a few scratches on the car they will tcut out no problem

  • Those 135 dislikers will take it as a joke and drive over the crossing when the barriers are down :L

  • THATS TOAST!!!

  • In the States there's an organization called Operation Life Saver promoting safety around railroads. I'm sure they love the version of this we watched in Drivers' Ed ( that version was less of a joke). I hope we won't have idiots who really think he was serious about a "high-visibility jacket."

  • good thing the snail was wearing his high visibility jacket

  • Just imagine that and adding X number of wagons weighing X hundreds tons and you got an ordinary comute train.

The lights and the bars are there for a reason...

  • that snail did not make it...i gurantee u that

  • come on youtube! this wasn't filmed with a toaster, even in 2008! I mean it was 3 years ago, for crying out loud! 240p is painfull to watch! -.-

  • I love this. It´s impossible in Germany or so on, doing this kind of crash test. Amazing and cool, that you island people can do that :)

  • @Thrawn0815 us island people, ahahahah i love how you put that

  • I wished my idiot friends were in that car!

  • By Imagining The Person you hate in the car, it's much more epic...

  • that car may as well be made of paper =)

  • 4:17 WTF???

  • i dont undertstand how wearing an orange jacket makes it more safe?

  • @woofan11k its a joke

  • @Kynokeh well i'm not laughing. You guys have a strange sense of humor

  • @woofan11k google word ''sarcasm'' and read the meaning of it :P

  • @woofan11k you should go live in a cave and learn some common sense.

  • @XMG3 oh ok

  • Okay ill jump the lights... but this time I'll wear the Jacket! XD

Thank's for saying that the jacket will save my life from a train moving at 80mph!

  • 134 people were tearing around on drugs

  • What a stupid old fart at 1:17. You can see the lights flashing. He should've gone to Specsavers! Get rid of the three wheeler and get bus pass!

  • dont think that jacket will save your life in a wreck

  • @MiKeDaStONeD yes it will, top gear said so!

  • @MiKeDaStONeD That's his point lol. It doesn't matter how much safety gear he wears, if he gets hit by the train he's brown bread.

  • lol can be the pretty girl next door or the woman of your dreams

  • 134 were hit by a train!!

  • Do something useful while waiting for the train.

Heck, just yesterday a train was coming and it was a bit of a ways off.

Instead of crossing to save a few minutes I got out to stretch my legs and get something out of the trunk lol.

  • What is the name of the song??

I really like that song, anyone have any idea?? Thanks in advance.

  • This was filmed near my house :D

  • k, if you where in that car, you should be death....... , the train almost drove through it...

  • at least the hood is intact

  • Chuck Norris would survive that. without the jacket too.

  • @UTGTYPE96sniper Chuck Norris would be an ugly carpet for the rails

  • if i was in that i would get slap by the train buffer ouch

  • I hope the Class 31 and the snail are ok.

    fk the Espace. lol.

  • I guess that my 8 airbags wont help in this one....

  • Wow that's instant Death :o

  • Sir Robert Markson.... LOL

  • 132 old people learned to use the youtube

  • what season and episode is this?

  • people carrier= 0 . CLASS 31 WIN!

  • They should invest more in quad gates.

  • i don' t think a high visibility jacket will save you tho. Might make it easier to identify what is human and what WAS car, when they come to check it out. Because the body would otherwise be hard to recognise with all those bits of car being "integrated" with the body.

  • @mkdri1 Because a His Vis jacket'll survive that :D

  • song when the train comes?

  • i actually saw somebody on a bike wearing a helmet over a helmet & wearing a visibility jacket over a visibility jacket. He may have been serious or parodying this i am not sure. But he rode from town to town like that

  • idiots beware - always wear 2 helmets and hi-vis jackets

  • lolol reliant robin

  • My Uncle was in that Renault Espace. He got the Death sentance

  • Poor snail

  • I meant don't tell me to stfu. Anyway, I guess I could get ad blocker

  • It's a joke aimed at the Health and Safety people that Jeremy often mentions.

  • It's always an old lady...in a Fiesta.

  • POOR RENAULT ESPACE :((( my 2rd favorited car

  • it was wery ekspensiv crashtest

  • that is DOC, death on contact.... save you a couple seconds on the road will not cool. don't do it people.

  • Oh no.. Did the snail die?

  • @Dogurasu Not that day, but this was four years ago. How long do wild snails lve?

  • @danlefou

    It didn't die that day?

    That's a relief.

So you were there? That must have been incredible!

  • @Dogurasu Sadly, I wasn't there, but it's obvious from the images that the snail was filmed on the other track, hours before the crash and about a mile up the line. In all probability, the camera crew would have had to wipe the slime off the rail when they'd finished filming. Health and safety, like the hi-vis jackets... And I know you were joking!

  • @Dogurasu No, he had a kevlar reinforced shell :-)

  • @Ferrari73703 Well, they obviously do work. No one got hurt that day because they were wearing those jackets. Didn't you watch the video? You, sir, are wrong. The train might just shatter, that part wasn't shown in the video so I'm afraid we'll never know.

  • 3:50. EPIC

  • Hold down spacebar going up to the crash:D

  • would clarkson still be joking about this when it happens to a member of his family i dont think so he turned this very serious video in to a bit of tele i see this sort of thing day in and day out

  • 3:09: Owned.

  • useful advice for all

  • It will probably buff out.

  • holy baby jesus i haven't laughed that hard in ages!!

  • poor snail :(

  • damn

  • To answer a few questions;

The train hit the car doing aproximately 60mph.

As to the cost of the stunt, 1) If it saved only one life it was worth it and 2) a single incident costs more in delays/cancelations alone than this.

There are over 200 deaths each year on the railway, the majority of those are at crossings.

  • @Xaiano It was meant as a parody of a safety information broadcast. Lighten up !

  • @eezy1972 that wasn't what my post was about, many people questioned wether this stunt was worth it, and i was pointing out that yes, it is.

  • Hey! That train is still in traffic right?

  • @ryanlim2002 No. The locomotive was scrapped the following year.

  • @danlefou Oh damn. What a waste of a wonderful locomotive. With some front end repair it could have been returned to traffic....

  • @ryanlim2002 One of Network Rail's track maintenance fleet, it was worn out and had been cannibalised for spares. It probably had no engine by that time, and was beyond restoration.

  • @danlefou Oh darn.... Cosmetic restoration and placed on static display could've been an option. T.T Wasting a perfect train. What a way to end its days in traffic.
