It is one of the most technologically advanced aircraft in the world. I know because I fly them. Even if it wasn't a weapons platform, it still would be one of the most advanced aircraft in the world. Keep this in mind the next time you fly Air Canada, you may not have been without it
actually the apache's systems are pretty outdated, they still use analog boxes, where as most civilian aircraft use digital technology, even the border patrol has far superior flir systems than the apache's. and everything mechanical about the apache was designed and developed in the late 60's and early 70's, and hasn't been updated since, save for a few engine upgrades and stuff like vmep/ mspu systems.
The Apache Longbow is mostly digital. When the Block 3 is in full production it will once again be one of the most technologically advanced helicopters. Yes, the border patrol does have a neat FLIR, but the gen2 system on the Longbow looks just like a black and white (green) High Definition camera. Most of the mechanical aspects haven't been changed much because they work pretty well. There aren't many helicopters out there that you can barrel roll or loop especially one that can weigh 20k+ lbs
um, no it's still mostly analog, except for the multi purpose displays and some of the radar computers. if it was digital there wouldn't be 4 oversized avionics bays crammed completely full with black boxes, and trust me, i've seen both flir systems, including the newest mtads on the apache, and the border patrol's is better. yes, it can barrel and loop, but it will probably overtorque both engines, and break all 4 strap packs, not to mention the transmission, gearboxes, and driveshafts

I dont know, the Japs and the brits both use Ah-64 varients, but they didnt make it. The Ah-64 was made by the Hughes company and was further continued by the beoing/McDonnell douglas company.
